The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

So seriously, the whole trope in films involving the President and nukes where they require two people turning keys at the same time or people confirming specific numbers from keycards or similar stuff is all redundant and bullshit 'cause Trump can launch if he wants to?
You're confusing two different things.

The codes and keys and all that is just the process that launches the strike after the order has been made.

So about those dangerous leakers....

President Donald Trump said during a question and answer session with reporters that his White House leaks as badly as it does because his advisers are all competing for his “love.”

Too little too late...

From what I've seen of him Lord's a massive plonker and I'm glad he's been canned. Though If this is based on him typing "Sieg Heil" in a twitter argument rather than his track record of being crap then that's completely pathetic.

They let him lie..straight up lie for over a year. Not to mention all his racist innuendo...all of that was acceptable.

This is what finally did him in.

But surely those people can turn round and refuse to do it? Vote of no confidence in a megalomaniac President and place him under arrest?

Wishful thinking because they're all in bed with each other.

No, nope, and not really. The people actually launching them are military officers, not politicians.

The VP could assemble Congress and declare the POTUS unfit and thus null the strike order. It's quite possible that Pence and Congress would deem this a deranged act by Trump UNLESS there is clear evidence that NK is about to strike or a hostile act has taken place.

After the two-man rule is initiated the JCS is phoned who then phone STRATCOM to prepare for launch. JCS could ignore the order or STRATCOM could granted neither have the authority/legal justification to do such. There's also plenty of nuclear officers that may not be willing to launch though there are plenty that probably would, whether as Trump supporters or just following direct order/not ending their career/not going to jail.

The SECDEF could also refuse as part of the two-man rule but Trump could then fire the/anoint new SECDEF until one follows his order.

I was wondering about this. The mechanism is there but in Section IV of the 25th amendment it's also said that if the President submit a written declaration of his ability to discharge the duty of office contrary to the VP and cabinet's to the President pro tempore and Speaker of the House, he resumes his office. So in the chaotic event of a nuke launch, what's to say Congress will decide on an impeachment immediately before the wine is spilled, so to speak?

No idea. I'd prefer an obvious insane POTUS is immediately tackled and shackled by personnel. Then the cabinet just refuse to accept any nonsensical written declaration bullshit.

It's not up to the cabinet though, it's in the Constitution. VP and cabinet will have to submit a declaration refuting the President's immediately and if Congress is in session it must immediately vote on removing the President from office.

It's a lengthy process really ill equipped to deal with a madman in the WH

Jeffrey Lord is gone from CNN, so now they have lost Lord, Kayleigh and Corey. It looks like the goateed Cartman may be getting a lot more work in the near future.

Please tell me those are Fox or right wing polls?

Yeah, definitely. They are a complete load of shit, he's his usual 32-38% in most polls. Actually he's lower in some as he has slipped a couple of points due to his recent feckwittery. As @Sweet Square says, even a pro Trump source and it still slams him. He's losing friends and support all over the place, especially from the Republicans who he just cant stop attacking.

Like @Organic Potatoes said, the guys in the bunkers and submarines etc. are military officers and they don't know if the US has been attacked or whatnot if that order ever does come.

Im no pentagon officer, but i believe it is so.

In dire situation like russia launches one, alien invasion, bio zombies outbreak perhaps in a quick manner (a few hours) the potus can do so.

But in times of peace (i dont consider tension in korea as emergency... Yet) the operators would probably consult with the generals and hopefully the generals or some high level minister can veto it, even at the risk of their job. The nuke clearances would probably have to go through several layers of authorization.

Same goes for kim... I guess. He in theory could launch that nuke but behind the screen he would most likely consult his generals before doing so.

People like kim aren't hell bent on nuke wars. They, imho wants money, this dog barks but dont bite is just another ways to extort monetary.

As mentioned before, he just wants to be taken seriously and treated with respect like any other nuclear power. He wants an end to the crippling sanctions imposed on his country and he wants aid to help feed his people. He wants seats at the top tables of the G20 and G8 and he wants to be included in worldly decisions. Kim is obsessed with all this, it's even worse because he was educated in the West so he has first hand experience of what he wants. Personally I think it's time to negotiate and maybe concede some concessions to Kim. It's got to be easier than facing the thought of nuclear war and maybe if he can be persuaded to put an end to the human rights violations in exchange for his demands. I dunno, I'm not a diplomat, nor am I aware of what Kim actually wants, but Trump isn't either and seeing as there still isn't a nomination for the SE Asian Ambassadors role, I doubt many others do either.

Amazingly ignorant memo, made so obviously from a youtube overdose.

From the description of the fecking youtube video listed as a source in an official document:
He then explains how Marxist leaders use informers to make lists of anti-Communist and other politically incorrect people who they want to execute once they - actually a Jewish oligarchy - come to power.
...
Bezmenov also explains how the LOOK magazine article falsely claimed that the Russian people were proud of their victory in the Second World War, where in reality the Judeo-Bolshevik-Communist-Marxist government was happy that Hitler had been defeated so that they could remain in power.

CNN should not employ these loonies in the first place. But i guess it makes for good TV in their eyes.

That memo is terrifying in it's conspiracy theory stupidity yet you can see half the clowns in the white house, Trump's redneck fan base and the alt-right pillocks lapping it up. 'kin loony tunes the lot of them although it did manage to make me hate the word meme more than I already did.

Says more about the staffer than him. Who in their right mind would find goatee Cartman attractive let alone letting him plant his seed in them?

Campaigns are open season for nerd mating. Even Ted Cruz found his wife while working on Bush's campaign.

Maybe Trump spends so much time golfing because he read that story about Kim Jong Il hitting that 38 under pair round with 11 hole in ones on his first try before immediately retiring from golf. Maybe it eats away at him every day that somebody was more something than him.

I suppose we're left hoping they're as level headed as that Russian guy holed up in the bunker that refused to launch back in the 80's.

I suppose it makes sense in terms of urgency but I don't think I could ever fathom a nuke coming at you out of the blue so there'd never be the need for just the President to be able to launch. Guess in peak Cold War paranoia they couldn't be too careful though.

Totally agree about Kim. He's all about maintaining his power, this is just sabre rattling. He probably loves winding Trump up knowing how thin skinned and pathetic he is too.
