The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

A lot depends on Mueller eventually asking for Trump's tax returns. That would establish how much he was in hock to Russian gangsters (Putin).
Will not just establish him as a con man/crook but as Traitor. Motive.

EDIT: If all this happens mid next year, the Dems have a chance.

It's not going to happen, Trump is in power, he will stay in power during his term and life will move forward. No one necessarily has to like it nor endorse it, but the fact is that this is the hand that has been dealt regardless if you feel it was created with intervention and/or collusion with Russia. I can appreciate the notion of integrity, however, when you see statements referring to someones character simply based upon their political allegiance, you see the issues within the current system. Both sides are as bad as one another......

No, no they aren't. One side wants to get everyone onto healthcare, the other wants to force the most vulnerable off healthcare. A lot of people will die as a result of that. That's not speculation or hyperbole, it's simple truth. Pre-Obamacare an estimated 40,000 Americans died each year due to a lack of healthcare. The ACA greatly reduced that number. Take away the ACA and replace it with a program like the GOP are suggesting and the number of deaths goes up.

If you vote willingly for more people to die, you deserve to be called either evil or stupid. Suggesting Trump voters are stupid is actually a compliment to them, as the alternative is worse in this case.

Thank you for so eloquently proving my point.....

It's always whataboutism and false equivalence. 'They are as bad as each other' ....

Even if that's what you think it's really strange that you don't show up or comment when the right are doing stuff. Only showing up when you hear something about the left (to say I told you so), or better yet, just to remind us that as fcuked up as the right are acting, the left are just as bad in your opinion.

So pointless and transparent, Imo of course and aimed at whoever it applies to...

The steady decline of the dollar since he took power is probably to thank for that. Foreign investors taking advantage of the weakening dollar.

Standard Trump fan/sympathiser approach. Come in, make some poorly constructed point, have it proven wrong, and then depart from the thread. Repeat cycle.

I don't know, man, it's just something that rubs me up the wrong way, that's all. This air of superiority and condescension isn't something I ever associated with progressives in the traditional sense.

It's not unfounded though. The guy is making an absolute fool out of his country and making a fool out of his voter base and yet they continue to support him. That is what earns the contempt they receive.

How do you expect people to act at the moment? America just elected a guy who is openly misogynistic, racist and who tells constant and barefaced lies. How should progressives react to those voters? They can't claim to have been deceived, he was openly all of those things during the campaign.

I am neither a Trump supporter nor a Trump Sympathizer (if any of those throwaway comments were aimed in my direction), merely pointing out that while some in here would have you believe this is a 'good Vs Evil' debate and there is no in-between, that there is indeed and element of 'in-between' that ought to be found. Being on either end of any continuum is not necessarily healthy, and that was the point.

Create as many adhominem arguments as you like, whatever makes you feel better about things i'm ok with that, but it simply reinforces your own pushed stereotypes.

It's a political choice (in both the US and the U.K.) that has very real and concrete effects on whether the poorest and most vulnerable in society will be able to live tolerable lives and in some cases whether they will actually live or die. Nothing is more important than that, and the jaded 'they're all as bad as each other' stuff is nothing more than a lie.

No-one is saying one side is perfect, but right now people have a clear choice between two things, one of which is considerably more damaging and dangerous than the other. If people chose the negative side, then they should at least have the guts to own their decision.

feck me, whoever introduced the "ad hominem" argument bullshit into everyday speech has had a nightmare.

But yeah, when you come in here talking about how "both sides are the same" you're not going to get away with that. Because as the evidence has show that is clearly not true at all.

Her moaning about it affecting her career is pathetic. Its his private account and he can block whoever he wants (or in this case I'm assuming it was Scavino or one of his minions who did it).

I agree with the first part, but not the second - it's part of the public record now in his role as President and he should not have the ability to block anyone.

I suppose that's why he uses his private account and not his Presidential one. If she wants to continue covering him she can just start a new Twitter account to see what he's posting.

It's not private anymore. It's official record, equal to any other form of presidential communication.

I get what her problem is. She wants to be one of the people who constantly reply to his tweets to get followers for her own account. As I say, I don't really have a lot of sympathy for her "plight".

Its public in the sense that the tweets are going to be preserved, but the account itself is still Drumpf's private account that he's had for the better part of a decade, so technically he can block anyone he wants. Her legal case of "you have no right to block me even if I accuse you of being corrupt" doesn't seem to have much merit. If this was the official Presidential account then she would have more of a case.

I don't think this is too important most likely, but I'd argue there isn't that distinction anymore - both are official presidential accounts now as far as I can tell. It looks like we'll find out before too long anyway as a case is being taken in relation to it.

Seems the Dems believe the easiest way to get to Trump is pursue legal exposure on his beloved wifedaughter.

It's an odd one. I suspect if they win it will be largely because of the statements from the White House staff about the account.

I've just watched All the President's Men.

Looking forward to the sequel in a few years time :smirk:

There was some optimism on Wall Street his deregulation-at-all-costs and tax cuts would be favorable to big business, hence a premature uptick on the market.

But if he cannot follow through on tax plans due to whatever-care not getting through the Senate and loses the ability to push bills through via reconciliation, then those gains will be pared.
