Seems mostly that the stories are pointing to those who say the the Trump campaign was incompetent and looked for any port in a storm and were unwitting Russian agent might be right. Which sounds plausible considering how the Trump associates are in public. The more you do to please him, no matter how awful or ridiculous it is, the better.
