Good win for Pochettino. His tactical acumen was essential to their victory. Spurs has got a quality manager and a good team that plays well together.

Was a masterclass from Poch tbh. I was skeptical of playing 3 at the back, but he got it spot on.

If you noticed they started attacking down their right, Chelsea's left, after about 35 minutes. I think he saw that Hazard wasn't tracking Walker back and Matic was having to come over, so he had Kane stay between Luiz and Cahill to occupy them and got Alli isolated on Azpi. Since Hazard wasn't tracking back and Walker was able to pull Alonso wide it opened up space between Matic and Alonso for Eriksen to sit in and that's where his assists came from. It was really quite brilliant and after the second goal Conte had Hazard and Pedro swap flanks.

I have to rewatch the goals to be sure, but that's what I noticed.

No rotten eggs in Tottenham's first XI, is there? Their goalie is great, their defense arguably the best in the league, and they have enough creativity and quality going forwards to pose a real threat. They lack the pace, tricky players they used to have, but they are all round much better.

Looking like 5 wins in a row, looking just as, if not more convincing than us. Spurs are underrated on here and we'll struggle to finish above them.

Didn't we just beat them a few weeks ago? And isn't this the team that absolutely fecking bottled 2nd place last year? Dropped 10 points out of 12 in the last 4 matches last season, getting thrashed 5-1 by a Newcastle side that finished bottom 3 on the last day that let Arsenal finish 2nd.

So I think you should hold off on the "won't finish above them" stuff.

Credit were it's due, they bullied Chelsea tonight. Great result for them and they are contenders and anyone thinking "but it's spurs" need to have a little rethink.

Proper team built by Pochettino there.

Wanyama and Dembele are superb partnership. Completely bossed Kante and Matic. Also I was very impressed with Danny Rose, constant threat down that side. They really are in great patch of form, like last season.

That's the important thing for me, they're well balanced and all fight for one another. You could see that last season and they're showing it again this season.

Just my opinion, hope i'm wrong. We should be beating anyone at home, i don't expect the same result at WHL.

Not surprised by the result tonight, Spurs 4-1 win against City last season (to an extent) their 3-0 win against us last season and then their 2-0 win against City this season shows they're now capable of playing really well and pulling off big results in front of their home fans

They'll definitely finish top 4, so much stronger than Arsenal, City and maybe even Liverpool

Eriksen was MOTM for me. Consistently found space in an otherwise congested midfield and delivered wonderful assists.

I used to not mind Spurs but ever since they have developed a good team I can't stand them. Same with Leicester last season although they aren't a threat anymore. I just hate seeing teams taking the headlines and people thinking they are the bees knees unless it is a non prem team. Tbh out of all the contenders barring us I would probably prefer Spurs to win it the most but they and their fans seem very irritating lately. Call me bitter all you like but there's more to it than that.

Taking all the headlines? Sky focus entirely on the traditional top clubs and virtually ignore Spurs and begrudge saying anything nice about us.

For the first time in a generation, they have a great manager and some of the leagues best players and youth prospects. T

hey are a genuine contender these days. Level deserves a huge amount of credit for this.

I thought that they were fantastic tonight. A totally dominant performance, and didn't allow nothing to Chelsea (bar that chance on the fifth minute).

They have also won the last 5 matches.

If it wasn't for their usual meltdown in the end of the race, I would have put them dead cert for an UCL spot.

Currently on track to get 79 or 80 points. With - on paper at least - many of our less challenging away fixtures still to come, we stand a good chance of reaching that total.

Yup Spurs have really flown under the radar this season.

Very good team with a mean defence.

Definitely good enough to sneak up on the blind side to win the title.

EL fixtures could be a spanner in the works however if they decide to take it seriously.

You forget that for all his other defensive brilliance, A (can't spell his name) is never that good in the air, same with Moses, Kante who may chip in with responsibility. Chelsea needs more CB to complete their teams (hope they won't be able to though)

If this wasn't Spurs, the team that finished 3rd in a two horse race, you would definitely back them to push Chelsea all the way.

Fell asleep about maybe 20 mins in or so, so missed it.

Was glad to see someone to 343 against Chelsea. Teams have struggled to figure out how to play against them so far.

Was hoping for a Chelsea win for our top 4 hopes, as Spurs tend to be annoyingly consistent.

Despise Spurs (mostly thanks to this very thread) but good to see wanyama playing so well, mainly because I got into a huge discussion with my mate who said once he left Celtic he'd be in the championship within two years.

Pochetino is doing incredibly well. Spurs are starting/continuing to look good, reminiscent of their form during their peak last season. Scoring for fun, beating the best team in the league convincingly, passionate, etc.

I think they may pip Arsenal for 4th or 3rd, unless we unwind in which case us and City could very well miss out.

This is the most competitive season I ever remember.

You what  classic football fan paranoia.
It's not totally wrong.

Sky's combined XI pre-match was entirely all Chelsea players.

Last time out against Watford Sky refused to say anything good about Tottenham and instead focused on how bad Watford were. Jermaine Jenas even had to address it on Twitter how they absolutely refused to say one good word about us.

I just finished reading an article on "who the top teams should target in the January market" it contained detailed lists for Chelsea, City, Arsenal, United, and Liverpool. We finished 3rd last year and are sitting in 3rd again - no mention.

That said, I enjoy it. I want us talked about as little as possible.

Just typical Spurs, everything could happen on their beautiful day, but lack of consistency always never make them a real contender for champion spot in my eyes this PL season, just like Liv.

Last season would truly the best opportunity for Spurs making their big step becoming a big club but they already missed it

Lack of consistency? That was our 5th win in a row and we have only lost 2 league games this season.

We've dragged ourselves and our form up by our bootstraps of late.

Apart from a dodgy 3 or 4 minutes at the start of the 2nd half we were totally in control of the game last night. It was good to see us managing the lead like that, with few dramas or problems.

The big question now is can we push on at this level, the big date in the diary for me is February 11th when we go to Liverpool. If we are in a decent position after that game then we will have played all of the current top 11 away from home and the only 2 of the top 6 left to play will be Arsenal and Utd at home.

If we can have a good month or so between now and Liverpool we'll be in a decent position, big 'if' though.

If he has created that opinion for himself do you think any form of logic is bound to change it?

You lot completely found Moses out last night, I was wondering when that was going to happen. Shut every part of Chelsea down, great performance.

They are a great TEAM. Pochettino built this team around players who are willing to work very hard in a game, and that's the best thing he has done. Tracking back and covering a lot of distance is part of their nature and with this hard work they destroy their opponent's midfield. If only they had a player like Bale they would challenge for the title not for top 4.

I really was excited at the beginning of the season to see if Pochettino can continue the great work he did last season and if they can challenge for CL spot. Now I think he has done that. I don't care if they finish in top 4 because this year the competition is unbelievable. To me Pochettino has proven himself one more time.

I'm now convinced that we'll be finishing 5th this season.

Not because I think we're generally worse than any of the teams above us - all have weaknesses. But that spell of terrible draws is going to be the death of us.

Every team in the top 6 will be dropping points until the end of the season, but we've already dropped too many, IMO.
