And then there were was one: Spurs, the last remaining unbeaten team in the Prem.

I can see the media love in with Pochettino coming shortly. I feel old in regards to that. Should have gave Spurs Van Gaal, while we got Pochettino.

Nevertheless, what a great performance holistically. Solid defense display, great pressing and good intricate passing. Kane does not seem to be missed at the moment and the break he has with his injury could revitalize his form and make Spurs more dangerous going forward upon his return.

Another excellent result for them.

I think they kind of went under the radar at the start of the season due to the Mourinho/Guardiola/Conte arrivals and their late collapse once they lost out on the title but they've got a fantastic, balanced side, and I can't really think of any glaring weaknesses that they have as such. I think their major problem may be that they arguably lack of a star in the mould of Aguero or KDB but they've got a number of very good players all the same.

I still think City will win the title but this Spurs sides undoubtedly in contention and I'd be very, very surprised if they don't get top four.

What's Pochettino's record against Guardiola like in all comps?

I do enjoy watching them play, hope they do well this season (not at the expense of us of course).

Is it really relevant?

All their previous meetings were Barca vs Espanyol, which is so heavily weighted to one side.

I don't think there is a manager in the PL over the past 3 years who did a better job than Pochettino at Spurs. One of the best managers working today in that you can clearly see his stamp on his team.

If Spurs overachieve once again this season Pochettino will be snapped up by a big club sooner rather than later.

You still don't get it do you? This is not Spurs over-achieving, this is Spurs as they are .... a top team.

They have done for ages now. It's not something thats happened over night.

I think people just sort of forgot because of their collapse at the end of last season and due to the fact they didn't add any star names as such. Surely contenders for the title again.

Watching the game today, and I actually feel we may struggle for top 4. City, Arsenal are guaranteed to finish in top 4. If Spurs and Pool continue their form, we might be searching for another manager in May

Spurs are a great balanced team - much more solid at the back than us. Brilliant performance today - they look like they have improved on last season. This title and top 4 race is going to be possibly the best ever.

Personally I'm hoping they, Arsenal, city and Barca get to the CL semi-finals ;)

I have no idea doubt we are going to struggle to get top 4. I also hope we continue with mourinho irrespective of what happens.

IMO, they weren't able to defend leads in the past. It feels like I they got tougher mentally.

They spent a few months at the start of last season to play defensive football to get used to their new defensive shape. Since then they've been extremely good defensively (with the final few games last season being the only blip).

If you look at their defensive record last season and now this season you'll see it's no real surprise. They've a very difficult team to beat nowadays. Extremely well organised, tactically astute and full of energy.

And people thought losing Kane was the end of the world for the Spurs....

I think Spurs have the best depth in England.

Really? I seem to remember Pep lost to Numancia on his La Liga debut.
Maybe I have it wrong, might be that at their first meeting Poch beat Pep.

Edit: no, apparently Poch was the first manager to defeat Pep.

I was laughed at for suggesting that the spurs team is as good as United. Turns out, they look better.
We now have to consider that maybe @GlastonSpur is the sane one on here and to him WE look like the deluded ones, much alike (i imagine) the scousers just after they entered their first barren years thinking they will be back on that pedestal soon enough just because they are big and powerful, not realizing all is not going to be well again.

It looks like alot of arrogance directed toward @GlastonSpur predictions and analysises seem deluded and misplaced arrogance now. He is close to winning the redcafe.

To be fair, I'd rather Spurs win the title if we can't do it this season. Infinitely better if they win the title instead of Arsenal, City and (definitely) Liverpool.

Besides, I like a few of their players and Pochettino in particular. They've built their team properly and without a sugar daddy and I respect them for that.

You are an effective, hard to beat team. One that is hard working and well coached. Exceptional in defence, resilient and without obvious weaknesses. It's a civil servant's idea of a top team.

I've no idea what this is supposed to mean ... perhaps you'd care to explain?

You could say the exact same thing about Atletico. They're undoubtedly a top team.

Without flair or panache, no star quality. You have no player who excites, no one who can go past defenders.

Magnificent from our boys today, from 1-14 they left everything out there.

Particularly impressive to play like that without 3 massive players for us.

Pep's Barça lost to Wisla Krakow, Numancia and Shakhtar Donetsk before even meeting Pochettino's Espanyol, so no.

I agree with some of that, but they are not dull team either. Their style is more like Germany than it is Spain.

Agreed, they are not dull. Their industry alone is compelling enough.

Then I guess it was the first time they met. Some statistic of that sort was doing the rounds before the match, anyway.

Son goes past defenders, Lamela and Dembele both have plenty of flair and panache, Rose and Walker are perhaps the two most exciting attacking wingbacks in the league, and if Kane - winner of the Golden Boot - is not a star then words have no meaning.

But then you'd probably classify Pogba as a 'star' because he cost a world record fee, despite the fact that Alli outshines him.
