I see this criticism levelled at us a lot right now and I don't quite get it.

Who in the top six is doing super well against the other top six besides Liverpool? Does any other club have a record of note?

As I recall our home/away record against top six is middle of the pack for top six teams.
Everyone takes points off from each other when it goes head-to-head. But you seem to struggled more than everyone else away to a big team (like us, tbh).

I wouldn't look at points but the performances. Liverpool have clearly been the best. Arsenal easily the worst because of how poor they have been against pretty much everyone. Everybody else in the middle. We haven't been great either except against Arsenal and I guess we best spurs fairly easily.

Again struggle more is being quite picky in my opinion.

Chelsea have what? One away win?

City have...one?

As you said Arsenal don't have any. In fact you've got one win against the top six total, home or away.

United don't have a single away win versus a top six opponent.

So again it's a pretty dumb and hypocritical criticism to give Spurs given that no one except Liverpool are able to do anything of note against their fellow top six rivals away.

Not only that but Spurs can actually say they haven't lost to a top six rival at home. Which is more than the others can say.

Excellent response today, Stoke are weak but to have it sewn up after only half an hour was more than we could have hoped for.

Tough game up next with Everton.

Spurs did well to win today. Keeps the pressure on the others, specially us tomorrow night against Leicester now that Henderson is fecking seemingly out of the game.

But that doesn't mean Spurs can't eventually win the CL. Chelsea had no 'pedigree' in Europe prior to Abramovic et they still have 1 title. It can be done by a new kid on the block. No one started off with that pedigree it gets built.

You could argue before 2000 Barca had very little European respect
Noone said that. The initial point was saying pedigree hold no value & Tottenham can be judged the same as traditional teams using the bad result the last time they competed in CL.

Chelsea under went a major aggressive transformation. Tottenham is trying mimic Arsenal, who has not been doing too well since pursuing similar stadium project. Why should Tottenham project be better than Arsenal? Remember that Arsenal before heading toward this stadium project was a force both domestic & in Europe. Tottenham's "achievement" is not comparable. If that's building pedigree, then you're looking at a new inferior Arsenal.

Spurs have won only 1 knock out tie in 3 years (with pochettino as Manager) and that was in Europa league against Fiorentina. That's a shocking record.

Yeah it's not great, overall our record in Europe has been dire. Something I hope as a club we can improve - we have to improve it if we are to keep progressing as a club.

I thought it was decent or at least made some progress but none in Europe. In league it's completely different though.

Ben Davies hasn't really worked out there, I'd gladly take him back at Swansea.
For half the price you lot paid of course.

Haha, point taken!
Any idea who Poch/Spurs will be targeting in the summer? The squad doesn't seem to have any major weaknesses as far as I can see.

Imho our squad depth is weak, we need a lot of improving. We simply don't have a depth of quality.

I expect to see quite a lot of movement in and out this summer, we have signed too many players of insufficient quality. At this stage I'm not sure who we will be seriously looking at and I always ignore the media rumours so it's hard to know.

I dislike Spurs' borderline thuggishness and their fans can dry me out a bit, but right now, at this very moment in time, they are a better team than us.

Excellent goalkeeper; established, attack-minded full backs who are consistent; solid CB's for the most part; good midfield, and a lethal CF.

And 4 places above us in the league.

That might well change but I can't stick the boot into them right now as they are better than us at the moment.

That makes sense, especially with continental competitions also.
I know it's a bit early to write off Janssen, but maybe a new striker too as backup for Kane? I haven't seen much off Janssen so maybe I'm being harsh.

Do you think we would have been humiliated by Gent as well

Both Redmond and Bertrand would be good additions to Spurs squad. Redmond only just signed with Southampton last summer so that may be very difficult, but Bertrand would give them needed cover behind Rose.

Both good shouts tbh - I could see us being interested in the likes of Redmond for sure. Bertrand would be superb cover for Rose but I doubt he would want to come as a back-up.

Yeah, Bertrand is way too good to be a backup. He should be Liverpool's #1 target as much as I'd hate to see him there.

Very true. It's very hard to identify players to improve Spurs' squad that would make sense given the club's financial structure. I wonder if Levy/Poch would take a chance on Maguire at Wolves who has been impressive this year and I believe Hull has even been playing with 3 at the back a bit since Silva took the job.

Do you think the interest in Zaha is real and that they'll make a bid for him this summer?

I think there has been interest in Zaha and Poch obviously likes him. I can sort of see why as he clearly has many of the attibutes to be a really effective premiership player but for some reason he just hasn't yet got it together. Perhaps Poch thinks he could work on him and get the best out of him. There is a pretty good chance we might cut our losses with Sissoko in the summer and if we do then I'm sure we will look at Zaha again though personally I'd rather we set our sights a bit higher.

Zaha would be a good signing for Spuds.

He'd add some desperately needed pace to their side.

Also, after already failing at United, it's unlikely he'd be pinched off them by a bigger side if he does well there.

I'd look elsewhere.
I cant imagine them not finding a better winger than zaha for a lower transfer fee and wages abroad.
Hes just not that good.
I'd say he'd wind up being the player you rely on when better players are injured and usually be disappointing

So Pochettino said today that 'he was born with a ball in his arms' and not the eagerly quoted 'he was born with a bull in his arms' and his mythical link to Espanyol. Basically reiterated that he understands football business and he understands why he is linked with Barcelona and he doesn't want to comment on it, just noting that he was happy at Spurs.

Mes en que club

So playing for a club over two spells for eight years and then managing them is a 'mythical link'.

Of course not. But exaggeration of his quotes like 'being born with a bull in his arms' and unequivocally ruling him out of contention of the Barcelona job because of him being an Espanyol player/manager when currently Barcelona themselves are managed by a former player who played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona is mythical.

I'm not sure he will be given the job, but he will definitely consider taking the job, whether he played or managed Espanyol.

The bull or ball in the arms quote won't carry anywhere near as much weight as his previous comments on more than one occasion about Espanyol being the real Catalans and not Barcelona. In Barcelona that means something, to imply that Barcelona aren't Catalans is similar to telling somebody from Bilbao that they aren't Basques.

He may well be on the list but the smart money according to the media in Spain is on another Argentine getting the job.

If on the other hand he should go there then good luck to him, I spend a lot of time in Barcelona so it would be interesting to see him managing one of footballs two giants, I think he would be brilliant there.

We've got problems for the Everton game.

All of Kane, Alderweireld and Vertonghen are facing late tests, as is Janssen.

Rose and Lamela definitely still out.

Haha, point taken!

Personally I think we need a backup LWB and a creative AM as our 1A and 1B needs.

Rose being out has really shown the need for a LWB that's more similar to him. Davies is a decent player and could probably start as a LB for most non-top 6 sides, but Danny Rose he is not. For this I'd look at Kieran Tierney of Celtic or Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham.

As for a creative AM I believe we put too much pressure on Eriksen to be the creative hub for the entire team and I believe the squad could use something different as well. Perhaps some pace or dribbling ability, etc. I'd be looking at Mahrez and Youri Tielemans.

I know some may suggest striker, but I'd still like to give Janssen more time plus I believe if we were able to stick to the 3-4-3 more consistently Alli or Son could play as a false 9 in Kane's absence.

Zlatan scores majority of our goals.. "Man Utd are a one man team"

Harry Kane scores pretty much all of Tottenham's goals.. "world class, brilliant, blah blah blah"

Yes I'm on a wind up.

Dele Alli also has 10 goals in his last 11 games. Kane is by far our best goal scorer but we do have other players hitting over 10 goals a season. Also what is a 'woe is me' Utd fan post doing in a Spurs thread?

You just got fooled mister.

Spurs are a bloody good side with a talented crop of young players and manager.

I would have Dele Ali at Utd in a heartbeat. Extremely talented lad.

Unfortunately for Spurs, I don't see how they will be able to keep Pochetinno and the likes of Dele Ali long term. Unless they are winning league titles, Spurs aren't a big enough club to keep managers/players IF the likes of Real or Barca come calling.

I honestly do see Poch at Real Madrid in a year's time and Dele Ali will probably move too.

But enjoy the ride Spurs fans - things are good right now!

Spurs fans need to realise that to obtain strength in depth you don't sign squad players.

You bring in similar or superior quality to what you have.

"Building depth" gets you Sissoko and Janssen. They should be chasing potential upgrades. Not understudies. Tough on a budget. But clearly possible
