the match has been stopped due to a cut

but i was watching in portuguese and have no idea what happened

this is BBC's take on it , glad I did not pay to watch.

Angry scenes at the MEN Arena as the fight is stopped for what looks like a fairly innocuous cut. All three judges award the fight to Khan but although the fight may be over the action inside the ring continues with McCloskey's promoter Barry Hearn going absolutely mad. Boos rings out and it is a very unsavoury finish to what was a scrappy fight.

Just seen this...McCloskeys eye was noway as bad as Morales was last week when he fought 12 rounds blinded!!!
Disgrace.

Sick of reading about the Khan fans saying the match was wrapped up. All it takes is one punch in 12 rounds to lose it. McCloskey was down on points yes but in that instance he knows he has to go for knockout!!

I get the feeling something is corrupt in the Khan set-up, almost as if Warren is setting him up just to knock him down.

It was an absolutely horrible stoppage, I've seen fights for domestic titles being continued on cuts worse than that, to call off a World Title fight on the basis of that cut is embarrassing. And the thing about it is Khan certainly won't fight him again while he still holds the World Title. I reckon McCloskey's only chance is if the Khan - Bradley fight goes ahead and the winner moves up in weight vacating all the belts, then maybe the WBA might give him a shot at the belt due to the way it ended.

Ortiz beat Berto last night, ending his unbeaten record. Overdue, IMO, though I am surprised at who he lost it to. Ortiz went a good way to banishing memories of the Maidana fight.

Ortiz v Berto was a great slobberknocker.. thankfully missed the Khan fight.

JuanMa was stopped last night, too. Upsets are coming thick and fast.

Shit, I hadn't heard that. I was looking forward to himself and Gamboa, hopefully that will still go ahead as they both have exceptional power and questionable chins. Could be a fight of the year contender, although similarly it could end up an early stoppage. Lots of big potential match-ups affected in the last few weeks, Lemieux and Kirkland last weekend and now Juanma. Is Pacquaio next?

De La Hoya does. So do we, apparently.

Hatton stands to earn a guaranteed minimum of £1.8million for any comeback fight, £2.4m if he goes straight to Morales. Pay-per-view television would boost purses substantially.

De la Hoya confirmed last night: 'Ricky against Morales would be a wonderful fight in Las Vegas, a great event, a meeting of two real legends of the sport. Fight fans all over the world will want to see that.'

Morales - two years older than Hatton at 34, and the last man to have defeated current pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao - is in the midst of a comeback of his own.

De la Hoya said: 'Erik has shown Ricky that it can be done. He was away for three years but has returned to have three fights before putting on a beautiful performance against Marcos Maidana.'

Many American commentators believe Morales was robbed of the narrowest of decisions against Maidana, the younger Argentine puncher who came close to knocking out Khan before losing their 2010 fight of the year.

Daily Fail.

He just needs to stay retired a great fighter but his body has took to much damage with the drinking and eating between fights, and these last couple of years won't have helped.

What I should have said is nobody wants to see you fight Ricky other than your die hard fans and those that stand to profit.

It's a classic case of "shit I could make a couple more million on the back of my boxing record back when I was actually still good", its a payday and nothing more because he won't ever be coming back full time. Occasionally but very rarely you get a fighter that you hope hooks up with another and creates one last classic. All this is a shit cash in on a reputation of a once great fighter. Stick your PPV up you arse.

According to Wlad's manager the Haye fight will be on 2nd July.

Been a mad couple of weeks in boxing with all these upsets.

Ortiz one I'm not too shocked about, although it's mad how big he was on fight night - 161lbs according to HBO. How the feck was he getting down to the light welterweight limit?

Lopez fight was stopped prematurely although he was blatantly on his way to getting KO'd anyway, bar a miracle. Just annoying that as soon as Gamboa vs. Lopez starts to look like it might actually happen sometime soon, Lopez goes and gets himself sparked. Think I'd defo have to favour Gamboa now... dunno if there are any other common opponents but compare the way Gamboa dealt with Salido and M'tagwa and the way Lopez struggled with them. I know that's not how it works, but still...

Haye will get the smashing of his life from Klitschko if you ask me. He's a midget in comparison and Klitschko is no Valuev.

I struggle to see Haye beating Vitali but I can definately see him beating Wlad. It's well known Wlad doesn't like to be hit and is known as a bit of a quitter, Most of his recent opponents have been big fat plodding haevyweights and he could dominate them by staying behind his jab. However Haye has real speed and power, if he gets at Wlad in the early rounds I think he can stop him. Obviously theres always questions about his chin and Wlad has a lot of power so Haye could well get knocked out at any stage, but I have a feeling Haye will win this one.

I might throw a few bob on Perez depending what his odds are, fancy him to relish this format. By the way Lance, is that you on ESB?

No, sir. I was perma banned from there around 2004.

Oquendo is out.

Due to the death of 47 year old Wendall Granville long time friend and partner in his non-profit charity: Fres Oquendo Boxing Academy, Fres Oquendo, has decided to remove himself from the World Class International Competition. Oquendo, who was considered by many as a strong favorite to win the tournament, just received the news about his friends passing. "My first phone call was to WBA heavyweight champion David Haye to inform him of the news, He was extremely supportive and said the decision was up to Fres" said Oquendo's manager Tom Tsatas, Oquendo also has the full support and understanding of his promoters John Wirt of Square Ring Promotions and Bobby Hitz of Hitz Boxing.

"The sudden loss of a friend is devastating and I am in deep shock, Wendell, helped get me off the streets when I was a knucklehead and stuck with me through all the malaise of boxing for nearly 20 years all the way to helping me make the FOBA come to fruition. I feel I should to be here with his family and partake in any arrangements the family will make this upcoming week. I'd thank my friend, David Haye, and my team for their support" stated Oquendo.
