Just saw the article on sky sports about the upcoming international prizefighter.

Prizefighter goes global | Sky Sports | Boxing | News

Looks a very good line-up. I reckon Rogan is a bit past it at this stage, Johnson is a good fighter but I'm not sure how he'll do in the prizefighter format. I saw Perez the night he fought 2 guys in one night and he is quite good. He has gotten progressively more out of shape since his first fight in Ireland so it will be interesting to see what weight he turns up at, could be a good outside bet though as he has good boxing pedigree and good power. I don't know much about the other two but their half decent boxing records seem to be mostly compiled of bums.

With 3 more slots available this could be a fantastic tournament and hopefully prizefighter will continue doing these international shows.

Khan vs McCloskey has been bumped from Box Office to Sky Sports 3. Justice.

Good news about it being taken off pay for view. Khan & his team appear to be underestimating McCloskey a lot & hopefully that is the case.

It is justice, but I feel bad for McCloskey, I assume his purse will take a big hit as well as Khans. Even if Khan loses he will get the chance for more big paydays in the future, if McCloskey loses, which is the most likely outcome, he might never get another shot like this.

I would assume McCloskey's purse will be unaffected. Khan is under contract with Sky, not McCloskey. His purse should be guaranteed.

But when the disputes over money came about McCloskey mentioned a number of ways they looked to get their purse up. One of those ways was a percentage of the PPV money. I'm not sure if that was the arrangement in the end, but if it was he could be losing out.

Wow, what a weekend. First Lemieux now Kirkland, two big prospects who both lost their zero this weekend. What were the punches that knocked Kirkland out like? To be honest I've not seen much of him other than his recent comeback fights ,which were relatively uncompetitive, and highlight reels. But from what I'd heard he was a bit of a face first fighter who got involved in wars so I assumed he had a solid chin, but the guy who knocked him out had an awful KO percentage. What happened there?

I normally don't watch box but due to work I'm watching it now and this has been a good mix of fights.

Kirkland got a big blow very early on and judging by how he fought the rest of the minute the fight was, his previous record and reaction after the fight I imagine he's never been hit like that in a fight before, didn't know how to react properly or too big of ego and went in the rest of the fight like he hadn't been hit. Got slaughtered.

Tried to blame it on the ref then after going down what, 3 times in one minute?

This Katsidis fella looks to me to be a right prick. Definitely rooting for Guerroro.

The commentator is really bigging Maidana up. Saying he's in great shape, mean fighter and it's likely that Morales won't beat him.

Maidana vs. Morales was absolute class. Pretty much the last thing I expected was this to be such a close fight.

Before the fight I thought it was irresponsible putting Morales in with a guy like Maidana at this stage in his career. Shows what I know.

Perhaps terrestrial TV will pick it up. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Primetime have picked it up.

Saj Mohamed, a member of Amir Khan's team and one of the boxer's closest friends, disclosed some of the details regarding the behind the scenes turmoil with Sky Sports. Khan's upcoming fight with Paul McCloskey, which is scheduled for Saturday at the MEN Arena in Manchester, was originally going to carried by Sky Sports Pay-Per-View. After numerous issues with the undercard, the network dropped Khan-McCloskey from their pay-per-view arm and reshuffled the fight to Sky Sports 3.

BoxingScene.com's Terry Dooley broke the story several days ago, that Khan's fight with McCloskey was going to bounce from Sky Sports and land on Primetime, which is a smaller pay-per-view outlet. The move to Primetime was later confirmed by Team Khan. The relationship between Khan and Sky Sports is now very strained, as Mohamed says the network is no longer interested in televising a possible 140-pound unification between Khan and WBO/WBC champion Timothy Bradley.

Saj Mohamed said - "[I'm] glad the fight is not on Sky Sports 3; it will be shown on pay-per-view on Primetime channel 480 on Sky. Sky Sports were only offering 100k - a million pound loss we were willing to take but Sky Sports 3? [We] tried getting it on ITV but they've got the football on. We were willing to accept 100k for Sky Sports 1, but Sky said no. Most people out there don't even have Sky Sports 3, you have to subscribe to Sky Sports to get it."

"We had great times with Sky, but since the Haye-Harrison fight, they want to dictate full shows and undercards, and if fighters pull out there is not much that we can do. Amir Khan is a pay-per-view fighter. Sky is showing Degale vs. Groves on pay-per-view - why not Khan - and Sky said they are not interested in the Bradley fight too."

Boxing PPV hasn't represented value for money for a long long time, I don't think I have paid for PPV in all the time I have had Sky because quite frankly even the biggest fan must have trouble justifying £15 for a nights boxing when you are already paying £50+ a month on your subscription. If the undercard is stacked then ok in some cases its value but whens the last time a card was stacked?

There is only one fight that I would consider and thats Mayweather vs Pacquiao and even then I would think long and hard about bothering since I could probably watch it in the morning for free on some youtube video before it gets taken down rather than paying £15+ and staying up/getting up at 4am.

Now the BBC & ITV seemingly don't bother with it anymore and Sky everytime they get a decent fight make it PPV, boxing as a sport doesn't reach enough homes on a Saturday night and to me thats sad for something that used to draw massive viewing audiences. It's like the boxers have all become about drawing the most money rather than providing entertainment, if they took a little bit less they could give back so much more.

Apparently the Sky PPV attracted less than 50 pre orders.

"Amir Khan is a pay per view fighter" my ass.

Any updates on who might be showing this fight or if its even going to be shown on TV i can't seem to find any info on it. There wasn't a word about that side of it on Ringside yesterday evening only that they thought Khan's confidence might be down a bit because of his reduced purse etc.

You could try looking five posts up.

Anybody else think it's odd that there's still no venue for Haye vs Klitschko?

Not really. It will be a stadium in Germany. Hopefully a lot of Brits travel, because the German fans never create an atmosphere.

Christ, you know that Khan card must be a shocker if Sky have turned their backs on it.

Wasn't Tyson Fury meant to be fighting Rahman on it? What happened to that?

Rahman decided that he was not "in shape." He reckons that he will not be merely an "opponent" for anyone.

If I were a cynic I would say they didn't offer him enough money.
