The RedCafe Boxing Thread

One of the biggest upsets in the history of boxing. I cannot believe it.

Wilder and Fury must be laughing their arses off. What a chump :lol::lol:

Feck you Hearn!

What a stupid fight by AJ. Didn't listen to a single thing his corner told him. Kept dropping to Ruiz's level, jab his body and leaving his head open for the counter. No combinations. Didn't use his height at all.

Absolutely stupid.

Joshua's whole demeanor the whole night has just been weird. Again, I'm so stunned.

No shame in not having an unbeaten record.

Rematch will happen obviously. AJ will have to bounce back.

AJ has a rematch clause so he could win the belts back in time for a Fury or Wilder fight, although the lusture of such a fight has been tarnished after tonight.

The new WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion of the world, is this guy...

Something was definitely off about Joshua tonight.

Asking weird questions between rounds, not knowing where punches were coming from.

Was he just exposed by the first counter-puncher he faced or was he genuinely concussed?

At the time of the stoppage it seemed like he wanted no more and had given up.

His career is in tatters.

Cannot understand why Joshua didn’t sit behind his jab. The height and reach advantage was asking for it, yet he kept his left hand low in that philly shell guard the whole fight. Just invited Ruiz to get in close enough to land. Tactics were fecking awful and gotta say the occasion froze him

Unbelievable scenes. I thought after AJ knocked Ruiz down he'd steam in and finish it then be calling out Fury, but my days what a turn around!

Hats off to Ruiz. Clear game plan which he stuck to despite the knock down. Great work from him.

I think the ref was right to stop it. AJ was down twice that round, looked dazed and the refs have to protect the fighters from taking too much punishment.

I think even if AJ wins the rematch he will need to regroup in UK before heading back to USA again.

I can't get over how stupid that was. I can understand after the 2 knock downs in R3 because he was gone after them.

But even before that, he wasn't listening to his corner, kept asking them obvious questions and had absolutely ridiculous tactics. The low jab to the body? Anyone who's anyone says the big man uses his height and size advantage. Joshua kept coming to Ruiz's level.

Just makes no sense.
