The RedCafe Boxing Thread

I think the reason I'm more inclined to believe AJ/Hearn over Fury and Wilder's teams is that both Fury and Wilder will deliberately mislead the public with soundbite statements. Fury stating he wants to fight Whyte for the Diamond belt and then calling him a bum and backtracking a couple of days later is frustrating for fight fans. Wilder will state he will fight AJ for free and then also claim he wants to be the A side in other interviews. AJ is the only one who seems to not constantly bullshit fans and yet out of the three he seems to get the most stick.

Fair to expect a 3am walk out tomorrow? That'd make it 10pm in NYC right?

Who would pay £20 to watch this crap. Joshua v Bouncer is a disgrace. Watched a 1990s heavyweight documentary today and the fights that were going on was amazing even with Don King in the mix.

Hearn is just riding the money train for as long as he can get miles out of it and make no mistake any big fights are on the back burner unless the fighters really want it.

Wilder is getting the better CV out the 3 of them over his collection of fights (IF the rematch happens.)

The timing of it, on AJ weigh in day, is funny as well. They are potentially both causing Hearn and AJ massive problems as this makes them look like a pair of idiots.

Let's say it does happen and them 2 have fought twice and AJ has fought neither surely most boxing fans would look poorly on AJ if he wheels out Joseph Parker or Whyte again and still blames these guys. People are already tired of these 3 talking but by one fighting neither of them he just doesn't look good at all.

Pretty much always agree with @Inter Yer Nan in this thread but find it harsh to solely blame Wilder. Hearn is notorious for "offering contracts" with good money and forgetting to tell about the million clauses in there, he did it to Fury as an example, I think he did it with Frampton to and also probably Wilder. He gets away without being questioned cos he now has his own propaganda channel in IFL TV. If you see any of them long interviews he does Koogan never questions anything anymore he just agrees with the lot.

I heard Hearn at one point propositioned Wilder to be his promoter, which would’ve made this entire saga all the more farcical.

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. I think he did the same with Frampton after they split a few years ago as well.

I don't mind listening to Hearn he is quite funny but got to take it all with a grain of salt cos he talks plenty of bollocks.

I don't buy he's desperate for this Wilder fight, most his cards it's clear his guy is the A side and usually a massive favourite as well which makes his job a bit easier.

When is Usyk gonna fight one of the big 3? Surely he’s the guy that can break up this Cold War

Wilder has never been offered 100 million or anywhere near it . Are you Eddie Hearn?

Wilder has said he has tried repeatedly to talk to Joshua one on one to arrange the fight but AJ won't do it

Fury and Wilder have fought each other and have both said they respect the other and will fight again yet both say the opposite of Joshua .

If you have three fighters and 2 have shown they are willing to fight each other but the other one just comes with excuses it's obvious who the one ducking fights is .

https://www.boxingnews24.com/2019/03/deontay-wilder-stays-with-showtime-for-breazeale-fight/

Yes he was.

It's clear Wilder has been using Joshua's name to build his profile. Just listen to Wilder after the Breazeale fight - that doesn't sound like a man adamant to unify does it? The fact that Wilder unofficially announced the Ortiz fight before AJ could call him out in the ring after the Ruiz fight on American soil says a lot.

You only have to look at their resumes to see who has been willing to step up in their careers. Wilder took 40 odd fights to face a top 10 contender in Ortiz and him picking Fury after Fury looked overweight and crap in his two comeback fights was clearly a cherrypick that backfired. Wilder, or at least his team, have always been very risk averse with his career whereas AJ unified in half the fights against Klitschko, a fighter whom Wilder actively avoided.

Both Wilder and Fury were offered 60/40 for April 13th and which was a more than fair deal that they both turned down. Do I blame them? Not really, they fought each other and both have gone on to make big US TV deals without having to risk their 0s against AJ.

It's all a lot of politics and unfortunately we're going to have to wait a little while for AJ to fight one of Fury/Wilder - hopefully they will all still be in their prime when they finally get in the ring.

If you're talking about 'big 3' as in HW's, then his talk of going up, and his chance against any of them, is remote.

As annoying as all three of them are, they are absolutely massive heavyweights with attributes that sit them at the top of the division for good reason; Usyk has a number of fights to prove himself in and opponents whose power is going to present a problem before he should get a shot at the top.

This is all under the assumption he can bring mobility with extra mass; if he can't, it's not going to be pretty.

Wilder Fury 2 confirmed as I said the only one ducking fights here is AJ

I mean the only one kind of beating up scrubs is Wilder. The two fights he has had someone decent in with him he was losing on points. And I use the word decent with Ortiz through gritted teeth. Also Fury’s first fight back in how long?
They do all need to get it on and throw Dyllian Whyte in to the mix.

I have to say the last 2 fights Wilder has fought he does seem to have improved his general boxing skill. He doesn’t look as badly off balance and throws straighter crisper shots. Still the occasional big loopy lunging punch mind and he can’t defend to save his life but he does seem to be improving and with power like that. Gulp***
That's so hard to tell until he's in there with someone he genuinely feels is a threat, though isn't it? Wilder's in his generic comfort zone clobbering fighters who are scared of him again, which gives him a lot more time to box as he's been trained rather than off instinct and that bit of unsettling a fighter who threatens him generates.

The Fury fight will tell us if he's able to make adjustments and improve form at all, I think.

Wilder Fury 2 confirmed as I said the only one ducking fights here is AJ

More like Wilder ducking AJ to face feather-fisted Fury - he knows he can last 12 rounds with Fury and maybe get off one of his right hands, he'd rather risk that than get potentially KO'd by AJ.

Why isn't Wilder pushing for the undisputed? He'll get more money than both the Ortiz and Fury fight combined and fight for all the belts yet instead he's been telling everyone to be patient while AJ has been offering him $100m and asking him to have a face to face meeting.

It's clear that Wilder is trying to get as much money as possible before going out on his sword vs AJ.

Both are wanting to maximise their appeal before the AJ fight. I'd bet any money Fury wants wilders belt for the unification angle.

It was 80 million for 3 fights and they wouldn't tell him what Joshua was getting plus he has tried to get a face to face with Joshua but Joshua wont meet him without Hearn .

Bottom line is no matter how many excuses Joshua and his fans make 2 of the 3 are happy to face each other and respect the other but have no respect for Joshua who just isn't willing to commit to a fight .

Add that to tonight's embarrassment of a fight .

The two of them know that they can beat the other, that’s the difference here. After the first bout they are both even more certain of it.

You’re simply seeing what you want to see, it’s clear as day AJ has been wanting to unify the division as soon as possible.

Why on earth would he hash out a contract without his promoter? It's a daft, baseless request, much like his ridiculous $50mil offer. If he was serious about wanting to fight Joshua then sit down with the promoters and hash out a deal. You know, like what has happened with every other fight in the history of the sport.

Then you have Fury's party insisting on a 50/50 split, despite not bringing any belts to the table. Joshua is also the one with the unblemished record and historically proves he is the one in the division to put bums on seats. It's abundantly clear they don't want to fight him right now, and are making these unreasonable requests in order to save a little face. Unfortunately, there a plenty of you out there who are desperate to buy it.

I literally posted a link which said it was $120m for a 3 fight deal - do you have difficulty reading?

Deontay Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel reportedly is looking to put together a three-fight deal for Wilder with Showtime that would pay him more than the $120 million that he was offered by DAZN for a three fight deal recently, without needing to fight Anthony Joshua.

The only reason AJ is fighting Ruiz is because the rest of the heavyweights didn't want it. He booked out Wembley for April 13th for the undisputed fight but Wilder and Fury both ducked 60/40 split. Whyte also ducked £5m. So they had to go to America for Miller who popped dirty. They then offered $7m to Ortiz as a replacement who ducked AJ to fight Wilder for less money. It was obviously never their intention to fight Ruiz.

I feel you're just believing what you want to believe.

Fair play to Wilder and Fury - they've played this perfectly. Made AJ and Hearn look like twats - twice!

The announcement couldn't be timed worse for AJ either, makes to tonight's fight laughable if it wasn't already.

What would AJ do next? Whyte? Usyk? He's running out of options and fast.

Unless Fury and Wilder plan to fight each other for the rest of their careers they are in no different a situation to Joshua after this fight. The inconvenient truth for them both is that AJ holds all but one belt, and sooner rather than later, they'll be pressured into persuing that fight.

Wilder Fury 2 confirmed as I said the only one ducking fights here is AJ

Let me put it this way...

If AJ announced that he was fighting Povetkin in a rematch, during a Wilder fight week when Wilder doesn't have any fights lined up in the future...you would be calling him a duck. So please have the same energy.

We all know what is going to happen with Wilder vs Ortiz, he will knock him out again but in much quicker fashion. Just like what AJ would do to Povetkin if they ever had a rematch.

How are you just going to gloss over the fact that AJ has actively been trying to make the undisputed fight all year, but Finkel won't even respond to Eddie? Wilder and Fury are clearly in cahoots with each other since their fight in December to try and significantly raise their financial value in a future AJ fight.

It is...?

Considering he’s gone after every possible fight asap to pick up belts and hasn’t stopped banging on about Wilder since, yeah.

Add to that he’s only lining up fights AFTER Wilder picks other opponents.

Wilder lining up two fecking rematches whilst AJ has an empty schedule should tell you everything you need to know.

I honestly don't think there is anyone more gullible than an AJ fan .

They pay money to watch him have non fight after non fight and believe every daft excuse he comes out with for these "fights".

Off course the TV companies have their share of blame too and it doesn't help that the 3 of them are contracted to different companies but Wilder and Fury have shown the fights can happen if both parties are willing.

If AJ really wanted the fight it would happen but he's content to be dragged around on a leash by Hearn who just wants easy money with no risks

Fixed.

Easy this. Your excuses ar3 nonsense considering that AJ has taken on the tougher & much riskier fights to date.

Fury is the only one who comes close when it comes to taking chances, but since beating Klitschko well.... the less said the better.

Has AJ even made any excuses? He's just made offers. You're the one making excuses saying the reason Wilder didn't accept $120m is because he didn't want Eddie Hearn in the room

This is a mental argument considering AJ is the one with the majority of the belts
People should be queuing up to fight him, not him having to run around looking for opponents

We are putting points to him and he doesn’t respond to any of them. And he has the cheek to call others gullible!

AJ has already done more than any 4 belt holder should ever have to do in securing fights.

This isd guy must be trolling. He has had facts presented to him and yet still calls AJ a duck

This is obviously the best argument yet gets completely ignored by the likes of lsd, mental really, AJ should be the one everyone wants to fight and they shouldn’t be booking in anyone else until AJ has filled up his schedule. Sadly though it’s the other way around and this gullible lot have the cheek to call others gullible, crazy.

Thanks fellas....thought I was losing my grip on reality for a bit.
Not to mention that AJ is a big hard bastard who should quite rightly fancy his chances of knocking out anyone who’s man enough to get in the ring with him

Hey feel free to keep spending money on these AJ "fights" and believing he is a true champion when he won't face a real opponent .

As for his belts you would nearly think he won them by beating the world champion going by the posts here instead of beating a 40 you who had been retired for vacant titles .

There is a saying in boxing to be the man you have to beat the man and since the lineal world champion is Fury then AJ can't be the man

Also it's not football you can make decisions without your agent what sort of argument as that supposed to be?

Ali Frazier met on their own and they were not friends

There is no lineal champ at the moment

There is and it's Tyson fury as your link even says whether you like it or not

No one wants the Ruiz fight and I certainly won't be paying for it but AJ literally offered every big name their biggest payday and all of them turned it down until Ruiz stepped up. The fact that they booked Wembley and had to cancel it and go to the US shows they weren't just looking for an easy touch and had to change plans when none of the big names stepped up.

As for his belts you would nearly think he won them by beating the world champion going by the posts here instead of beating a 40 you who had been retired for vacant titles .

The less said about Charles Martin the better, but he also unified against Joseph Parker and he had a classic heavyweight fight against Wlad - a HOF fighter. Fury beat him once in more convincing fashion than AJ but he ducked the rematch. Wilder actively ducked Klitschko his whole career. Look what his manager said;

https://www.boxingscene.com/wilder-not-rushed-klitschko-says-finkel--86714

This is all before his 20th fight, while Fury was getting knocked down by Steve Cunningham and Wilder was fighting cruiserweights at the same point in their careers.

There is a saying in boxing to be the man you have to beat the man and since the lineal world champion is Fury then AJ can't be the man

This is basically just a Fury soundbite. I agree though, they need to fight each other to find out who is best, but I'm not sure how much more Joshua can do to get these guys in the ring. I reckon AJ could lose to either of these guys easily, Wilder's right hand is deadly and Fury could outbox AJ for a decision, but I can't fathom how dense you have to be to not see what has been happening these last few months.

Also it's not football you can make decisions without your agent what sort of argument as that supposed to be?

Ali Frazier met on their own and they were not friends

This is just drivel. Anyway it wasn't even Joshua or Hearn that offered Wilder $120m for that 3 fight deal. It was the Dazn chairman that met Wilder's team;

http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/story/_/id/26300183/wilder-camp-rejects-9-figure-dazn-offer

Look forward to you avoiding all of these points with the adroitness of Wilder and Fury.
