What's with Haye/Bellew being on the same day as GGG/Canelo?

Tyson Fury will lose his Ring championship if he can't secure an opponent today. He's been given so many last chances here but the Editor in Chief Doug Fischer said if no fight is scheduled today the belt becomes vacant. He also said they will discuss Joshua-Parker being for the belt, but will likely vote against since that's 1 vs. 3 in the rankings and Wilder is a firm #2 in the divisional rankings.

In other news it appears Lomachenko vs. Linares will happen either April 28th or May 12th. Discussions have been ongoing for about a month and Lomachenko's manager said a week ago "His next fight you will say WOW" and confirmed it wouldn't be Pacquaio. Both fighters have started to post about a potential fight on social media.

Amir Khan is making a comeback? YAWN. He was more overhyped than the Early 2000 England tournament squads.

Yeah, absolute clown. He's got talent, but was vastly overrated and wasted what could have been his prime following Mayweather around with his hands out begging for a payday. Mayweather trolled him and Khan spent 5 years fighting 5 fights and with the exception of a good win over Alexander did nothing else. Just became desperate for attention like taking a Canelo fight to make a statement knowing he couldn't win, going on that I'm a celebrity get me out of here show, the fake fall out with his wife and trying to use Joshua's name to get attention, chasing a Pacquaio fight knowing it's not happening and instead fighting nobody, name dropping Mayweather all the time, saying he wants McGregor in the UFC etc; etc;. He just loves being a circus act. I prefer fighters who just fight. Khan had this impression that he was about the biggest thing in the sport and didn't have to earn anything in the ring.

Few things in sport have given me greater satisfaction than Prescott fecking him up. Just an average fighter, who somehow has a few pretty good scalps on his resume. I honestly reckon I could put him down with a dunt on the chin, so long as i could avoid his windmill hands.

Yeah, he never developed proper infighting skills, really doesn't have great power and people got seduced by his speed and mistook his shoeshine flurries as good great combinations. He has little variation in his offense and certainly is not a good combination puncher.

He has world class speed and heart and very good movement but it's offset by so many basics flaws and a chin that makes porcelain seem like cement.

I personally like the Danny Garcia fight a lot. He looked pathetic getting clubbed around after that neck punch floored him.

I doubt he's bothered really. Title or no title he's still Joshua's biggest payday easily and he knows it. HE doesn't need a belt to make a huge sum of money. His inactivity and constantly talking about fighting is boring but he is in a strong position. They should of stripped him ages ago.

I'm no fan of Khan but in fairness he was a pretty massive deal in England from a young age. He won a silver medal when he was a 17 year old kid (the only medal in boxing the UK won) and as soon as he turned pro he was putting on entertaining fights every time he went out there, there was a buzz about him especially in England. In his defence it would be hard to not let that get to your head somewhat, he's probably been a millionaire from being a teenager and told he is this big deal he would start believing it. He isn't the best boxer ever, he probably knows it to really but he's always in very entertaining fights and for that I'd give him credit.

Brilliant post lad.

Won't clash because of the time zone difference.

I gathered that....but still, not many Brits are gonna want to have a 10 hour or so Boxing marathon. It's just mad. Canelo/GGG is a must watch fight and people shouldn't be getting drawn into a trivial rematch of Haye/Bellew and be worn out by the time Canelo/GGG is on....I know some will, and some will be able to get that nap time in the middle.

But just overall, meh to me.

I'm not exactly anti Haye/Bellew either, it'll be what it is and create a solid buzz for the UK fanbase, but it's just there now and will distract from the worldwide event that Canelo/GGG should be.

Don't worry I've watched a lot of boxing in my time, I know that often you are let down one way or the other.
 Yeah one of my first experiences with boxing was staying up till 5am and paying ppv to watch Tyson (I was pretty young then) and the other guy refused to come out of his corner after 2 rounds!

Didn’t know Buatsi had turned pro, saw him stop someone at the Olympics, what’s the verdict on him, is he as good as the Sky pundits were saying?

Looks the real deal

Yeah very technically solid all around and looks to have arrived in the pro ranks almost fully formed. Whether he can get his power up to the right level we'll see, but he has systematically broken down all but one of his four opponents so far (the other was a one sided point win).

Also seems like a very humble guy outside the ring with a good head on his shoulders.

That was Golota I think.
Weird fecker he was. He was demolishing Bowe in both fights before he decided to get disqualified, but then Lewis brutalized him in the first round, dropping him 3 times if I remember, while Tyson made him quit after the second round and. Bear in mind, at that time Golota fought Ridick Bowe, Bowe was rated as a top notch heavyweight, having defeated Holyfield twice.

Gassiev-Dorticos was a great fight. Two great battles back to back with Usyk-Briedis and that. Can't wait for Usyk-Gassiev May 11th all four belts, the ring belt, the Ali trophy in addition to the winner being the front runner for fighter of the year.

Eubank Jr against Groves this weekend guys, how do we see this panning out?

I'm leaning towards a Eubank Jr late stoppage or points win. His relentless style and engine will be too much for Groves IMO who I think will have a decent start boxing off of the back foot, but I can see Eubank wearing him down and Groves has always had stamina issues. Can't see Groves knocking Eubank out either due to his solid chin.

It's a really interesting fight that one. I'm looking forward to it. I honestly can't call it. Groves has the ring IQ but Eubank has the stamina and chin to tire any fighter out. I tend to agree with your assessment really.

ITV Did a good build up doc for the fight above it's worth watching if not already seen it. For me though they messed up not putting the previous rounds on free to air TV. They'd of both drawn massive numbers (Eubank especially cos of the name) and it would of helped sell this fight, seems silly really.

It should be a great fight. I think the styles will mesh really well and we should get some changes in momentum. I've really not been able to call a winner but gun to my head I think my gut is telling me Eubank wins it possibly by late stoppage or close decision. Maybe the type of fight that calls for a re-match after the tournament is done.

It's a great match up, really looking forward to it! Eubanks chin will be put to the test in this fight, Groves is more powerful puncher and I think his experience, movement around the ring will win it for him. I'm betting on Groves decision.

Thanks mate! I'll have a watch now. I'm looking forward to the fight, touch wood it should be a good one. The key for Groves will be working that jab and keeping Eubank at bay. Think Eubank might struggle to get on the inside for the first couple of rounds but if he forces the pace that he wants the fight to go at it could work to his advantage and Wear down Groves. Its going to be a close one.

There’s like no way it can’t be a good fight. Swung one way and then the other with this one. Currently leaning towards Groves. BJS did school Eubank after all.

Yeah it’s a decent watch mate both interesting characters I think

True, it was a weird fight though where he looked completely different in the second half to the first. I don’t think he’d fight like that again.

I'm really looking forward to this fight.

I always get the feeling Groves is on the verge of unravelling physically but he's easily the more rounded of the two.

Groves should be too big for Eubank, but Eubank is on the upward curve and maybe it's his time. I kinda want to see Eubank continue his rise and come of age but could easily see this fight the other way. A real pick em.
