The RedCafe Boxing Thread

I suppose the question is "which one of these 2 belong at world level?". Groves has fallen short every time he's come up against a boxer with any sort of world-level credibility, even his title win came up against Chudinov who doesn't really belong at world level.

Now we have Eubank Jr who is largely untested at this level despite coming through a good fighter in Abraham (although at the end of his career). Suppose we will see who can make that jump.

Like DeGale?

Going back and forth on this one still. It's one of the harder fights to handicap recently. My concern with Groves is that he just fits me as a guy destined to lose the big ones even though he has more to his game in this particular match. Can he keep to a good game plan without tiring? If he can he wins IMO. Eubank is a good fighter but good movement will always stifle him. If you stand in front of him you are in trouble. Groves has to make sure there's not long periods of exchanges and standing close even though he's the bigger guy.

Really can't pick a winner and am buzzing for this one. More than I can say for the Garcia-Rios fight later that evening though I think that will at least be entertaining.

He improved but I'm not sure by how much. He still has the same flaws today that he had then.
For the most part yes. The fact remains that was both at prospect level. DeGale accomplished more since then though I'd have a hard time picking a winner in that match-up also. Degale fights to his opponents level too much and has major lapses throughout fights. He should have thrashed Media who's mediocre and Bute who's shopworn. Also got beaten up down the stretch vs. Jack despite dominating early. Very similar to Groves in that respect. Eubank may have an extra level and his loss to Saunders showed a number of decencies in his game but also both have improved and I'd actually pick Saunders to win wider if they re-matched one another.

Smith, who most likely would face the winner in June's final also strikes me as similar in that manner too which makes all these match-up's so interesting. I do believe Smith has the most quality overall and would back him but not with huge conviction.

Haven't been this excited for a fight in a long time. Been back on forth on my verdict but think Eubank will prove too much for Groves and win on points, very tough fight to call though. Almost seems like the penultimate fight in the SMW tournament I can't imagine the final, as an event, topping this.

Going to United today and then straight to the fight. Can't fecking wait.

I hope the fight lives up to expectations because I know United will, no matter the result!
you'll be the only one there...

can anyone pm me a stream please my IPTV service has just died

When he lands Eubank isn’t seemingly doing any damage to Groves which will be a worry as his whole gameplan seems to be to KO him
