A lot of what Haye says in this I agree with. Eddie Hearn is a modern day Don King in the way he tries to hijack every situation.

I dont really watch boxing these days but might watch this fight... is Bellew any good? He looked alright in Creed

He's ok. Haye in his peak which a few levels above him for me. The problem is as pointed out is Haye hasn't fought top opposition in about 5 years, Haye has looked good against terrible fighters since his return so it's hard to call. If Haye turns up at his best (or close to it) he'll easily win this fight for me. Bellew is lucky that he is in such a shite division, there's not many top quality cruiserweights.

The "feud" is pretty manufactured as well by the way if you don't know much about either fighters history. They used to train together and were quite good friends apparently. Basically it all seems set up just to get them both a big pay day but it will make for funny viewing in the build up if not taken to seriously and it should also be a fun fight as both are big hitters.

Thanks for clearing that up...

If you want to watch a fun fight that's probably the best one though. Bellew has a small chance cos Haye has been so inactive. It's like any sport a long lay off will affect people.

That's Joshua's latest Gloves are Off in comparison to Haye and Bellew and it's just ridiculously boring.

Also the stuff re Hearn...Haye has a point. They keep saying he fought bums etc but the people Joshua has fought are poor fighters and it's on PPV, Haye put his fights on for free.

iFLTV and their 30 seconds of commercials before the video ffs. I lose my desire to watch the video itself after those.

Adblock.

Anyway, Joshua is a boring speaker and he's fighting a boring fighter who spends his entire interview telling us how in awe of his opponent he is.

As for Haye/Bellew... Bellew has less than half a chance. Haye within 7 rounds -- Bellew has heart, but not much else.

You can't block it i think, it's part of the video, their sponsors.

Agreed tho, Haye will be too quick and too hard hitting for Bellew.

Fury vs. Klitchko was the most boring interview and 'gloves off' ever imo.

Sky/Box Nation peaked at Gloves Are Off stuff with Froch vs. Groves. After that I can't remember a good one. It's the worst possible format for Joshua for example cos he's so dull and media trained. He reminds me of Jon Jones when he first got big in the UFC and it was all such falseness.

The best Gloves are Off stuff are HBOs Face Off ones, mainly cos they're only about 10 minutes. Joshua gets double the time and is about a 10th as interesting to listen to as any fighter was on that.

The one with hand pulling?

Definitely. Nothing Bellew has ever shown would suggest otherwise -- even at Cruiserweight, Haye was far superior. A technically better boxer in every aspect really. Harder hitting, and also faster.

Joshua knows his market (boxing tourists, really). He tries to sell to families with two and a half kids, so to speak. And it works.

Haye cherry picks his opponents, which is why I fear for Bellew. Haye doesn't want any part of Shannon Briggs.

Let's go, Champ!

Yeah that's the one, both were quite good though. It was basically just Groves pissing off Froch for ages which is what I think them kind of shows are about. The ones with Joshua are just so dull. They do nothing to promote a fight for me.

Yeah I agree. Hearn has got him some intense media training and you can tell.

I don't blame Hearn for always putting his face in front of the camera - he's got more personality than anyone in British boxing outside of Fury. Guy sells a fight.

That was quite an entertaining press conference.

Glad Hearn got called out as well - such a smarmy, attention loving Essex bellend.

In fairness though isn't that kind of Haye's point? These people have got personality they're just not allowed to show it. Don't get me wrong people like Quigg are as dull as dishwater but there's surely plenty of people in his stable that have a personality we just don't get to see it.

He was also right about the well being of his boxers thing. Putting Brook in with GGG for example was just dangerous and could of ended his career.

Hearn has done a lot of good for British boxing and in his defence he doesn't deny loving the cameras but he is a bit of a tit and it's glad to see him get called out and actually bite back to it.

That left punch from Haye was so quick, as soon as Bellew pushed him he was hit. It was like Bruce Lee, has to be slowed right down lol. What chance does is Bellew supposed to actually have with that speed, even IF it didn't come with power, sadly for him, it comes with explosive power and he's fairly hard to hit. Nice to see Eddie Hearne get riled up into an argument as well, he proper bit on what Haye said about it being all about him, me me me. Hearne knows this, yes he puts on some great shows on Sky PPV or normal Sky Sports but he does con people as well in some fights. Can't wait to see Haye shut him up. The anger in this one seems genuine and Haye loves to shut people up mouthing him off for a fight, see Harrison, Chisora etc. I think Bellew is in deep water and talk about Hayes 3 year injury all you like, Bellew won the title just like Haye said, vacant on home turf in his big Eddie Hearne show. Haye earned all his belts properly. Bellew is well out of his depth, got no chance here unless something crazy happens to Haye.

Haye cherry picks his opponents, which is why I fear for Bellew. Haye doesn't want any part of Shannon Briggs.

Haye gets in with Klitchko on foreign turf in front of thousands of people but doesn't want any part of Briggs? What a load of bull. Haye's been injured and out for a long time, I've got no issue with him having a few easier fights before this one. Remember when Ricky Hatton came back and didn't take an easier fight.... he lost and everyone then said he should have eased back in more.

Come to think about it, Joshua who Haye stated he'll smash next and Bellew both were gifted their belts. Joshuas belt was actually Fury's IBF belt. Would love to see both beaten by Haye, the latter of which would really spell trouble for Hearn as its his big cashcow in Matchroom.

At 6minutes in Hearn advising that boxers go take a good look whats out there, all the channels etc then "come back to me" and the look on his face. So smug. Can't wait to see Haye smash Tony Bellew, then that's him and Brook dealt with 2 of his 3 biggest names in Matchroom. Hearn put on some good shows and done a lot for boxing but such a slime ball, he's like an electric eel. How is he 'giving Haye a pay day', loads want to watch Haye no matter who he fights. Hayes been in big fights before Hearn and will be after.

His fighter's get plenty of air time, Kugan gives all of them interviews. Eddie's videos are just more popular cause he's great to listen to.

Brook hasn't been dealt with at all. He still has his WW belt and his reputation was enhanced by taking on the most feared man in boxing.

Hearn obviously knows that Bellew will get drilled, they are doing this for the money: Haye, Bellew and Hearn.

To generate interest in boxing you have to appeal to a more casual viewer and appear on stuff like Sky Sports News, I don't think Kugan or IFL TV particularly get the attention of new boxing fans. Equally if using Kugan's videos at the moment Adam Smith after Haye vs. Bellew has 100k + views, Hearn has 82k, Haye 150k and Bellew 111k. So using that logic Hearn is not only less popular than the fighters but also less popular than Sky's head of boxing!

I don't mind Hearn, I'm all for him having time to speak albeit he speaks a load of bullshit a lot of the time but I'd like to hear some of his fighters speak as well. The most interesting British fighters to listen to aren't in the Matchroom stable. They're all elsewhere.

Haye may be popular, but only Hearn can give Haye the payday he'll be getting.

Don't disagree there mate. Equally Haye is the biggest payday realistically at the moment for both Bellew and Joshua and therefore in turn for Hearn as well. They both need each other.

Like I said, I don't mind listening to Hearn. I think some of his insights on IFL TV are really good, the longer videos in particular are interesting (his Eubank Sr impresion is the best thing on the whole channel as well.) I'd just like to hear from a few of his fighters as well. Stuff like IFL I'd say is more for hardcore boxing fans, they would genuinely be interested in what a Katie Taylor has to say for example even if it is boring. It doesn't need Hearn jumping in every interview.

The guy has been brilliant for the revival of boxing in Britain and deserves credit for that as well. For all the mismatches there is he has some hugely entertaining cards as well.

Hearn is giving Haye the payday because without Hearn and Matchroom, Haye doesn't get on SkySports PPV where all the money is. Hearn even mentioned how Haye tried going through the backdoor to SkySports but got told to speak to Matchroom as they are exclusive promoters for them.

Until recently, Matchroom was the only way to get on PPV at all in the UK but now BoxNation can offer PPV, albeit separate to SkySports PPV so it's probably not as lucrative which is why Haye went running back to them as Hearn said.

Not a Hearn fanboy or anything but most of what he says is tongue in cheek and he has done a pretty good job over the last few years. I for one stopped following UK boxing until Froch Groves 2 reignited it for me.

True about the belt and reputation but Kel got his face broken and has lost his 0, no telling what that will do to him, plus all the other fighters have seen someone go over to England and beat him.

Nonsense. 'Hearn' can pay him that payday because its 1) At the 02, 2) on Sky PPV and 3) against a cocky fighter who all the UK and probably boxing world due to creed, knows. Haye sells out the 02 against nobodies in his comeback fights anyway after 3 years out injured so its obvious he'd be getting paid well for big fights.

With Joshua, yeah Hearn will again be involved but if Haye goes over to Vegas and fights Wilder or fights Fury one day then its big money for him with no Eddie involved. Haye is the most exciting heavyweight out there, certainly British wise.

Why would Wilder or Fury fight Haye? Only Hearn could and would give him this sort of payday.

Sure Hearn has Sky exclusivity as he loves to tell us and like Warren likes to disagree, we all know this BUT Haye fighting Bellew on anywhere, any venue would do big numbers. Its got the kind of buzz about it when he fought Enzo Macranelli or even Chisora. Haye was being called out by Bellew as soon as he won the WBC belt and even called him out aggressively whilst he was working for Sky as a pundit at his fight. I don't think Haye went "running back" anyway mate. Hearn just so happens to have a few of the fighter options for Haye, that is all.

Anyway, who cares, unless something crazy happens, Haye will get paid and be smiling in the ring at Hearn after his fighter gets beat. Sure Eddie gets money too and wins in a way but his fighter Bellew will be less of a draw in the UK for sure, belt or no belt. He certainly wont be selling out 02 or goodison park on his own.

BBC One just aired a good interview with Nigel Benn this morning (Fern Britton Meets - or something like that). Well worth an iplayer catch-up for anyone with a few mins to kill.
