The RedCafe Boxing Thread

Was a great fight I thought. Didn't think it was a 117-111 fight like that one judge called. Might be biased being there though. Linares did deserve to win though I thought. Fans in the arena booing him at the end were bellends really, place was full of dicks last night though.

Depend whether the klitschko we saw last against Fury is the only level he is capable of at this stage. If he's really that slow then Joshua could have him out of there at some point, but its a riskier fight than Joseph Parker IMO.
I meant Anthony Crolla last night.

Man who buys everyone in a bar jagerbombs is also a party animal on the white stuff. Who'd have thought it?

Foolish boy but probably the least surprising announcement I was expecting when I saw a headline about Tyson Fury given the events of recent days.

Fury looks to be equally unstable as his boxing namesake!
Perhaps Mike could help him out with a bit of advice?

Fury is pathetic. He has ruined his career by drinking, getting fat and taking coke when he should have been training to be in peak physical condition, and he has tried to make up for this by using PEDs. He has been busted and doesn't have the balls to take responsibility. Instead he has resorted to making excuses. No sympathy from me at all - I hope he gets sued by the people who have invested in the Klitchko rematch.

Nathan Cleverley beats Jurgen Braehmer after the latter pulls out of the fight with a right bicep / elbow injury before the 7th round. Fight was probably marginally in Braehmer's favour up to that point. Close though. 2 time light heavyweight world champion.

He should hope for a rematch back home otherwise he's meant to face the winner of Kovalev-Ward and if that's Kovalev again, he's in even more trouble than the first time they faced.

Nah Braehmer comfortably ahead for me, landing the far cleaner punch with good accuracy, Cleverly shots had nothing to them.

It's not clear really. Personally I think he bottled it.
I thought he was winning on points though? You must have done basic first aid training, being in your line of work. Is he meant to have dislocated it by punching the bloke or did he get knocked down and land badly? Sounds dubious, but boxing is boxing I guess.

He just didn't come back out of his corner at end of the round. Couldn't work out when he had done it. No knockdown. Froch wasn't happy.

Froch is a tit tbf.

Tyson Fury announces he has retired from Boxing, no real surprise to be honest.

Went out in typical Fury fashion it seems as well..

Hope he finds help for whatever problems he may have. Shame he never defending his belts but some things are more important than sport and his mental health is one of them.

He couldn't cope being world champion, seems like alongside the allegations of drug misuse his mental health has also suffered.

Not the most likeable of boxers but hope he manages to get his shit together, doubt we'll see him in a ring again unless he's desperate for money.

Tyson needs some help & I hope he gets it.

As a boxer, I won't miss him.

I can see why people didn't like watching him. He's not really got the excitement factor of a Joshua for example (although he is a much better boxer.) He deserves credit for breaking the tedious reigns of Klitschko though, shame the belts will probably all end up back with him now.

I also think he'll fight again. A big money fight with Joshua always seems inevitable for both of them.

"I never lost my titles. I'm the greatest fighter ever to step foot on this planet. There's never been a man born from his mother that could've beat me in that ring." - Tyson Fury, 2017.

The only shame in this is we never got to see Joshua pummel him into the ground. The wanker won't be missed.

This guy really is insufferable. He thinks he's got one over the media? Everyone I spoke to about it predicted it was all bull$h1t. And ooooh look he's backtracked. Thinks the media are easy to manipulate but if you look at the BBC for example all they did was say he had claimed he was retired so no one fell for it. Still, been a nice publicity day for him, the waste of oxygen.
