That was at Marquez weight, Mayweather was too big for Juan basically. And Marquez is a great fighter, at his natural weight he was a match for Manny which tells you all you need to know about the guys skills. Pacman has moved up the weights really well but Marquez found himself not fast enough due to the added wieght to land enough shots on Mayweather but Pacman has the speed to trouble him.
Yeah Marquez is class, no doubt about that, hence why he was able to do what many others have failed to do - cause Pacquiao real problems.

But the point I'm making is that Mayweather certainly has the potential to do the same, given the similarities between his and Marquez's styles, and the fact that Floyd is both bigger and better (than JMM).

Was watching a Freddie Roach video on SkySports, and he seemed to think this fight was going to happen in September and things are progressing

I'm sure it will be in Las Vegas though

I'm sure I read the election was May 10th, so a September fight makes sense for him as well, as for sure Mayweather wants another warm-up fight

I'm sure having the fight in March, or May 1st as well, and him winning, would do wonders

"If he has to run against an opponent, then he'll have to start campaigning for the May 10 election on March 25,"

A quote from Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, so I suspect they tried for a March fight with Mayweather, who wanted another tune-up fight first.

Just watched the Jones Green fight, it was painful and embarrassing to watch, how the mighty have fallen.

Premature stoppage for me though, Jones was hardly getting hit, even the knockdown looked light, seemed too be a cuffing shot.

I loved the Australian commentator’s statement “When you beat a legend, you become a legend”

Nevertheless, probably the fastest 4 million Jones has ever made. No doubt he should retire now.

Jones looked really sharp in his last fight, didn't expect this result at all.

I agree with Starman regarding the stoppage as most of Green's punches were being blocked, but then again, he wasn't throwing anything back in return so I can see why the ref decided to step in.

However, if you look at the replay of the knockdown Jones actually turns his back a little and catches the shot on the back of the head, so no wonder he was all over the place. Might've been a completely different fight had that not happened.

Roy was the best fighter of his era and nothing can take that away from him, but he should definitely hang his gloves up now, there's nothing left for him to achieve in boxing.

Cotto wasn't disciplined enough after the first few rounds. He did hurt Pac though, just didn't have the discipline to stick to his plan. Brilliant display from Manny. It has to be said.

Mayweather has to be next. You can't compare how long it has taken him to dispatch the same opponents by way of deciding the outcome of Pac v May though. Each fight is faught on its own merits, and both Mayweather and Pacquiao have different styles of dealing with people. Mayweather has looked comfortable in every fight. They may have gone to decision, but they have never been in doubt. Much in the same way the fight last night should have gone to a decision really.

I would go with Mayweather on points. Epic fight though.

I take it you've never watched Mayweather vs Castillo 1? :smirk:

^^^ thats Floyd's dirty little secret

Hopkins got the job done and still wants to fight Roy. Said he will be HW champion in 2010

Up late our kid?
How about that then, Danny Green, wouldn't have thought that, I know Jones is a spent force but he still went the distance with Calzaghe albeit it a very one-sided fight.
Did you know much about Green before the fight?

As far as I can tell Arum and Pacquiao have agreed that date, nothing about Mayweather yet

Bredis Prescott v Kevin Mitchell.. this could be tasty.

Mitchells quality, great defensive ability and posesses a nice left hook.

Errr...yea...cool. Wouldn't have minded actually seeing a fight, but that was very impressive.

Still not sure about Khan

Iam the same , has good as that first knockdown punch was ,I want to see more of him.
I want to see him fight somebody that will fight back.
For me his defeat is a major blot, the first guy that came out and wanted to fight him did and beat him inside one minute.
Still not a World Champion for me.

Freddie Roach, he will take Khan far if Khan is up for it.
