Freddie Roach, he will take Khan far if Khan is up for it.

I think you are right and yes he could go a long way , but not with fights like that.
He thinks he is that good know all it takes is 75 seconds.
If he want to step up and fight with the Hattons of the world tonight was not good enough , even Hatton on a bad day would of punched Khan into the ground.
Iagree with whats been posted before that , tonight we learnt nothing about Khan the boxer.

Iam the same , has good as that first knockdown punch was ,I want to see more of him.
I want to see him fight somebody that will fight back.
For me his defeat is a major blot, the first guy that came out and wanted to fight him did and beat him inside one minute.
Still not a World Champion for me.

What more do you want, he just destroyed his mandatory, he's is certainly more of a champion then David Haye is.

I cant see why he can't clean out his division, unless he has to fight Manny of course.

Khan would embarrass Hatton.

I don't see the problem if the fight was mandatory. Glad I didn't dish out 20 quid mind you. What a joke for a fight that was always going to last less than three rounds.

This could realistically happen especially the way Hattons going. I'd rather see Kahn take on Mitchell.

Salita was terrible, God knows how the WBA had him ranked so high. Looks like Khan might be starting to develop a bit of power... hard to tell, tho', considering Salita's been downed by guys with no power in the past.

Ha, and Williams vs. Martinez was a robbery IMO, one judge even had it at 119-110 to Williams. PW is one of my favourite fighters but there's no way he won that fight.

Salita is a decent fighter, Khan had too much for him. But Khan will really be tested against Peterson, Bradley, Ortiz, Maidana (who as the interim should fight Khan soon or even next)

Williams won that lol the 119 score was bolloack as the judge only gave Martinez 1 round but such is life, it happens Funeka got robbed against Guzman last week as well.

Agree with the first 4, but I'd have Cotto-Margarito, Lewis-Klitschko or Marquez-Vazquez 3 in there instead of Marquez-Pacquiao. That Monshipour fight (can't remember the other guy's name) a few years ago was quality as well.

Been some epic brawls this decade, to be fair.

Great! another moron who just posts smileys instead of offering a opinion.

Go on, please elaborate why I have to bother asking what the smileys are for. I am eagerly awaiting your response :boring:

Cock.

Posting smilies uses less effort than telling you your wrong.

Khan more deserving the Haye? Don't be silly.

He's had one tough fight and got put on his arse within a minute.

They both have alphabet belts, both are WBA champion, both were accelerated to their title shot before they actually deserved one, but Khan beat a legitimate champion winning his belt and did it in style, he also just banged his mandatory contender in 75 seconds.

Haye on the other hand won his belt by first squirming out of fights with both the klitschkos, then scored a fight with Valuev, in so beating probably the worst heavyweight champion in history and in one of the most boring fights ever witnessed.

Valuev was also never a legitimated champion in the first place he won a vacant belt only because Chagaev the guy who beat him previously had to vacate it due too illness. Plus also given the fact Valuev was gifted a decision against a 46 year old Holyfeild in his previous fight.

So is Khan more of a legitimate champion then Haye? Yes.

Anyone who missed it can watch the Khan fight here.

You have to do some annoying MR first but you can plug in random stuff and it still works fine.

That first 1-2

Yeh great shot, still going to be doubts about that chin, but he's always had all the attacking skills

Wasn't impressed with the ref though, when Salita was in the corner cowering (for want of a better word), he wasn't defending himself, and ok, at that weight the shots might not be as hurtful, but the fight was done, ref should have stopped it there and then

Are you completely ignoring Haye's career at Cruiserweight??

Fine.

But when discussing whether he's less of a champion than Amir Khan or not, you can hardly discount the period when he dominated, and was a worthy and deserving champion, beating Mormeck and Maccaranelli.

Just because your career at a weight is over, that's not that matters

Ali, he's not a champion as his career is over. See what I mean, he's always going to be a champion, it may be the most extreme example, but you can't question Haye's credential as a champion and ignore what he's achieved at a lower weight.

I am not questioning Haye's credentials at a Cruiseweight, he unified the division, but as a current champion he is no more deserving then Khan, at the moment.

Khan got a shot at a light-welterweight belt having never fought in that diivision before, without having done much of note at lightweight, after getting starched in one round three fights previous and not avenging that defeat.

Haye virtually cleaned out cruiserweight and fought twice at heavyweight before getting a shot at the belt. Not that those two opponents were world beaters (Bonin is, was and will forever remain a nobody, Barrett was a decent gatekeeper-type on the slide), but he'd proven his world-class credentials in his former weight class and at least done something in his new weight class. Khan had done neither. Valuev is awful in terms of skills, but he's at least as credible an opponent as Andriy Kotelnik. I don't see the maner in which Valuev got the title as being that relevant.

They've both got it all to do to unify their divisions, but Haye is in no way less credible than Khan as a fighter or as a current champion.

Was it not the Klitschkos' that backed out of fighting Haye?

Because they didn't like his cockyness and his insults..

Nope Haye backed out of both 1 because of a 'back injury' (Wlad)
the other because he just wanted to fight Valuev instead

There was that rumour that Haye had that hand 'injury' to get out of the fight because like the Valuev fight, his opponent's income was guaranteed, I guess due to ticket sales.

Whereas Haye had to get his from PPV sales, and incidentally this fight was on Setanta, which was on it's arse, and had either gone bust or was just about to

I dont really get all the animosity Kahn faces, he seems a decent enough lad and he's only fighting who he has been told to. He's very quickly become a world champion and will only get better and better. Suspect chin or not i think he deserves a bit of credit, he has came back a lot stronger and is so much better off for having been knocked out. His work ethic is 2nd to none and that coupled with his natural talent makes him a fantastic prospect in boxing and i look forward to seeing some great fights with this talented boxer.

Agreed. He's got the quickest hands I think I've ever seen and they seem to be getting heavier with each fight. Phenomenal talent.

He might not have a great chin but neither does Hayes.

Also bear in mind that despite the suspect chin he has a lot of heart. He got caught with a heavy shot right on the sweet spot by a known banger in Prescott. I doubt many lightweights would have taken that shot flush on the chin.

He looks like he can go up in weight ala Pacman too, he has the physique to get bigger and if he can keep his speed he'll be a force no doubt.

The more worrying thing from that fight was that his legs shook from an initial jab.

Attacking wise, Kahn is up there already with the greats of the modern game..you'd have to be ridiculously biased to argue otherwise, but unless he comes through a bruising encounter against a half decent opponent and manages to stay on his feet..he'll struggle to earn widespread respect. I hope he proves his doubters wrong.

I thought his recent outburst to the effect that he'd be a bigger star if he was white was laughable, but I generally quite like him.

Some good fights tonight,

Vitali Klitschko vs. Kevin Johnson
Timothy Bradley vs. Lamont Peterson
Juan Diaz vs. Paul Malignaggi

Johnson's 30-1 to win, wont happen but I've stuck a cheeky quid on him.

I am now off to get very drunk and maybe stumble in later to watch them :)

Aye, decent night of boxing. I got far too fecked last night so I'm just gonna stay in tonight and watch these fights.

I reckon Khan might fight the winner of Diaz vs. Malignaggi next year, so hopefully it'll be Juan Diaz as him vs. Khan would be a quality fight.

Amir Khan unify division | The Sun |Sport|Boxing

This won't happen... surely? Bradley's probably the toughest fight out there at 140 and the last person I'd expect Warren to put Khan in there with. He was immense again the other night and doesn't seem to have any real weaknesses to his game.

You'd have to give Khan massive credit if this goes ahead, regardless of whether he wins or loses. This would be a real step up in class and he'd be a clear underdog IMO.

Like I said, though, I'll be surprised if this fight gets made, Malignaggi and Maidana seem like much easier opponents at this point in time.

My sentiments it was exactly

Recorded them and watched them after.
