The RedCafe Boxing Thread

My pay per view channels are up, can watch this on TV

National anthems just starting up. Shouldn't be long now

Just watching Sky's coverage.

Hatton says that he wants Pacquiao to win but he has a sneaky feeling that Cotto will triumph.

Underway. Cautious start but Cotto landed a good jab just then

Cotto down again, twice now

Great fight

Cotto giving a good account of himself here but he's obviously hurting and Manny's looking far more dangerous

Manny seemed reluctant to go for him the last few rounds, Cotto was a state, felt bad for him

Hopefully we'll see him against Mayweather soon

The ref probably could've stopped that several times before. That was one of the most impressive displays of speed and power I've ever seen.

Quote from Jim Lampley:

"They always say you get hurt the most by the punches you don't see coming. This guy is capable of landing more punches you don't see coming, than I've ever seen before."

As Jim Watt just said on Sky, more grounds for it being stopped in 9 or 10.

Pacquiao simply sensational.

Lederman had it 108 for Pacquiao by the 12th, which he also won anyways. But he gave the second or third round a 10-8 to Pacquiao whereas I had it 9-9, when Cotto touched the ground.

Anyways, Cotto lost because he stood and traded with Pacquiao. that guy is just too fast, and today we see that he has a pretty good chin as well. Mayweather vs Pacquiao is going to be a completely different scenario. Floyd will make him run after him, swing at air, and basically frustrate him. He also has a reach advantage and i think can jab him at will to score points. It will be interesting to see how Freddie Roach deals with this.

Seems like many of the so called 'experts' and 'insiders' believed that Cotto might either edge it or it will be a very very close fight. Turns out the betting public who clearly saw Pacman as the favorite know more than the know-it-alls.

The thing with Manny is that he's been fighting the very best in his weight classes and has come on top whereas that pussy Mayweather only picks fighters he knows will not be much of a threat to his '0'. No matter what happens to Manny in the future, the man is easily an all time great, the question will be is he the greatest ever?

Yeah, like fighting DLH at 154 lbs and an undefeated Hatton were never going to be threats to his "0".

not much of a threat no, Hatton is just not on that level to begin with. Those who seriously thought he could beat Mayweather were as deluded as the city fans thinking they could finish top 4.
