The RedCafe Boxing Thread

That's actually really refreshing to see. Usually the "Face Off" show (and now the UK equivalent Ringside have ripped off) is so forced with bullshit about hating each other and then they're best mates after the fight. It gets a bit tedious to see. Whilst it does sell some fights I think the fact these 2 sell it by their boxing ability is actually a nice change.

Can't wait. Fireworks expected!

Kell brook pulls out of title fight vs Diego Chavez with injured rib.

Khan vs Brook maybe? With Khan pulling out of that Manny fight for whatever reasons, this rib things with Brook... might be setting the scene for a massive world title fight around January? Can see both fighting relatively easy fights first though, so a summer blockbuster at Wembley seems more likely (if it's going to happen at all). Will be inevitable problems around promotion with Hearn and Haymon though (or did Khan split with Haymon?).

Brook will leave Hearn soon by the looks of it. Getting paid £200k-£300k to fight Diego Chaves when he could get signed to Haymon and get paid double to fight lesser opponents.

Full fight there as well, sure it will be taken down soon but try watching when you can. It was a great fight, could see a rematch on the cards.

GGG V Lemieux 0200 Box Nation. I've just subscribed to watch this fight!

Going to follow the RBR on ESB and find the fight on YouTube ASAP. Really gutted this isn't as Sky fight.

I know, I was surprised. This fight is killing me. Lemieux comes across as a decent guy, and I really respect him taking this fight. GGG scares the feck out of me, especially that sadistic streak revealed in his face to face. Why don't you listen on the radio? It's an awesome experience I've done so many times.....

Thinking about setting the alarm for this, waiting on it for a while now. GGG KO for me.

He's the favourite for sure, but Lemieux has a puncher's chance. It could go further than most people think. One connected power shot and fight's probably over. If GGG applies his technical skill and resists going toe to toe, I think he'll win easily and eventually win by TKO. Hope Lemieux makes a fight of it though, and I think it's not beyond him....

That's what I tend to do for PPV fights not on Sky, but I've no idea where this one is been broadcast... Not on the BBC, is it? That would be too easy, haha.

I think it's GGG's biggest test so far.

Not going to be routine is what I mean, but I still expect him to win.

GGG could easily just take a step back and wear him down with his incredible jab. But he has a reputation to maintain, so he'll undoubtedly keep up his all action search and destroy style. Should be a great five round fight. Roman Gonzalez (mini GGG) on the undercard too.

Slightly premature stoppage. Only guy I think could have success vs GGG at 160 is Canelo, only cause he has an iron chin and sharp counters.

I think he'd struggle as well to be honest. He's a very good fighter but Golovkin is on another level to them all. If he's marketed right they could makea killing on him for a few years, people love watching boxing end by knockouts and he pretty much guarantees that at the moment! He'll clear up that division depending if people fight him or not

HBO's highlights are unavailable so here is the last 2 mins for anyone...

Unify and head to 168 before it's too late.

Golovkin kills everyone at 160, for his own safety I pray Cotto loses to Canelo.

Golovking got into the habit of fighting face first 'Mexican style' on Saturday he cut that stuff out and fought behind a jab and looked near untouchable. What we saw Saturday would play out against every 160 pounder, he's technically too good, carries too much power, a big 160 pounder and very strong

I'm praying that Cotto loses to Canelo because I expect him to keep that belt hostage instead of fighting GGG. I'm pretty sure that Canelo would make the fight, he seems willing to fight anyone. I actually think the Canelo/Cotto fight is quite difficult to call; Canelo is probably tougher but he's also very one-dimensional - Cotto is far more rounded as a boxer.

Smh Canelo said there is no way he is fighting GGG at 160, said he has to come down to 155. What the fecking point?

Catchweights piss me off. Fight at the weight or lose a pound and fight at LMW.

Pointless ain't it? I'll turn a blind eye if it wasn't a title bout but the middleweight limit is 160, so if you're not ready for that then piss off back to junior middle

The sooner a single organisation runs this sport the better. Don't even care if it's called "Floyd Mayweather Presents Boxing", just stop this nonsense.

That's why I don't actually mind PBC in theory. Haymon pays the fighters decent money and it's all under 1 roof. The belts and the "power" they have has got ridiculous now really. It's such a dated system, top level fighters (Mayweather, Pac etc) don't really care about them anyway, the money is more important now.

If Canelo's going to have that attitude, he should vacate the belt as soon as he gets it (if he beats Cotto of course). GGG is a small MW so he can probably make 155 without too much fuss, but he should keep doing what he's doing at 160.

The state of this kid. He's had 2 fights, 2 wins including 1 ko.
