Is the Broner fight at the usual 4/4:30 time? Would time well with the end of the golf

That's a good fight to be fair, his only loss is a wide UD to Wlad and given Joshua's previous opponents it's pleasing to see him fight someone who isn't shot or an Eastern European midget plumber. Certainly his biggest test, will be difficult to physically bully someone his size and with all his man strength at 32.

 Agreed though, big test and should be some much needed rounds for Joshua. It's a good step up for him at this stage of his career.

Wow  When Floyd is embarrassed for you, it's time to take a look in the mirror.

Not sure whether I'll bother with the Ward fight tonight, as it should be painfully one sided... Saying that, last time I said that, Wilder got hurt, so who knows. (I know - Ward won't let that happen).

I'm recording it, I agree it'll be one sided but I think Ward will want to impress on his comeback, he has his critics so he will want to prove them wrong in a year and a half.

Broner is on a 3 according to Paddy Power, Ward will be on at 4 it says.

I watched the Maidona:Broner fight again today for the 3rd time. One of the best fights in recent times.

Oh how I'd love to see Broner get his ass whooped again tonight. The complete lack of respect shown at the weigh-in deserves a sparking out in itself.

Gotta admit, I don't want Khan to get the payday, either... And no, not because he's a whateveritissrcalledhim

Good GGG discussion vid.

Anyone else pulling an all-nighter?

feck the payday, I want Khan to fight Mayweather because I think it's the most interesting possible match up that's left (Mayweather still wins, probably 8-4 imo). Khan can be lethal in the early rounds of a fight, which is exactly the way you get at Mayweather. Also Khan's footwork might be enough to avoid having Mayweather hug him to death, he also has great range/speed. Would not be an easy fight for Floyd -- one he'd win, but not one he'll take imo.

All-nighter indeed.

Wonder how much Smith weighs getting into the ring? Probably about 180ish? Could be up to ten pounds heavier than Ward. Gonna be interesting, even if massively one-sided.

Much more than 180, I'd guess North of 190. It's going to be a sparring match for Ward.

People expected Mayweather to perhaps concede a few of the early rounds to Manny, and look what happened there. Styles making fights is true, but the gulf in ability means I can't see Khan taking more than three, perhaps four (at most) rounds from Floyd... But who could take more? I don't know of anyone.

We need to get Castillo outta retirement

Smith was 184lbs this morning. Ward wanted him at 181lbs or lower, so not only did he lose money for coming in over weight at the official weigh-in (losing himself $45k in to process), but also overweight in the morning of the fight weigh-in (losing another $15k).

Ward is gonna Ward. 11-1 at worst.

I didn't give Manny a prayer, but I didn't think he'd be the zombie that he was either. He was terrible in that fight, injury or not (excuse imo, if you're injured stay out of the ring but don't use it as an excuse when you get dominated).

Khan would be a different prospect in many regards (would still lose, but would definitely take a few rounds along the way).

Errol Spence fighting Le Greco atm. Le Greco was last minute replacement (got word on Tuesday or something crazy like that).

Malignaggi pretty much saying that the fight has been set-up (with the catchweight) for AB to win it.

Jesus... Some lovely body work there. Never seen ESJ fight before.

It wouldn't be close, Khan is massively over rated.

9-3, 8-4 -- not really close (well 8-4 is in Mayweather terms). Styles make fights, Khan's style is exactly what Mayweather does not want to fight (he'd win, but why bother?). Not sure Khan is overrated. No one thinks he's on Mayweather's level.

I don't think he is overrated, he is where he is supposed to be in boxing, very good talent, been in some exciting fights and has won a couple world titles and has also been exposed in some fights. He isn't a P4P candidate at the moment and probably wont be, and most probably will get outclassed by Mayweather.

This is crap.

Broner is trying to mimic Floyd but is failing miserably.

At the VERY best for Broner, I'd still have given Porter the fight 7-5. My actual score would be two tied rounds, 7-3 in Porter's favour (could've just as easily been 8-2 tbh).

Didn't expect that outcome at all, though.

Was really disappointed with that. Hopefully a Ward master-class makes tonight worth it.

Ward hugs more than Broner :nervous: But yeah, I'll be catching up with that one in the morning. Expecting 11-1.

G'nite.

Broner needs to change his trainer. He's a talented fighter but he definitely needs a better trainer.

That's what i dont get. He doesn't need to mimic Floyd though, he's a talented fighter in his own right.

Crappy fight, every round was the same. Would like to see Broner go back down to 140 and fight Matthysse.

Don't expect the Ward fight to go the distance.

I know these triangle theories are usually nonsense but bear with me:

Broner absolutely dominated by Maidana
Maidana absolutely dominated by Devon Alexander
Porter comfortably beat Alexander

Broner SD v Paulie
Porter TKO5 v Paulie

Broner's career was made at 140 and below, usually being the much bigger guy at that weight. The one time he moved up he was humiliated by a pressure fighter in Maidana. Porter is odds against at this point and the rehydration clause has been abandoned, he is going to be 160lbs when he enters the ring and he's such a consummate pro he made 144 on the button. I'm putting the family jewels on the line and predicting Porter is going to deserve to win this fight, whether he gets the decision is another matter. I've actually been pleasantly surprised by most of the PBC judging so far but there's a lot of money in keeping Broner relevant.

If you're a betting man I think betting on the fight to go the distance is a good one, Broner took some huge shots from Maidana and still made the final bell, Porter's chin is granite. You can get 2/5.

:)

AB exposed again. Granted that he is too small for this division with his skill set but the guy was also exposed by Ponce De Leon at SFW, he just can't cope with fighters that put it on him because his footwork is virtually non existent. The ref knew that he had to be kind to AB if he wanted to get invited back to PBS by Haymon and he was!

Paul Smith's 'honest mistake' was shown up by the fat protruding from the top of his shorts in the fight.

Porter was the clear winner in the fight, it wasn't the best but I didnt think it was awful to watch. Broner was exposed again, it was basically a less entertaining version of Broner vs. Maidana, anytime Broner got some kind of advantage then Porter countered it almost straight away. I do like the look of Porter when I've watched him though. A rematch with Brook would be interesting I feel although in fairness Brook doesn't really need that fight so I doubt it would happen. Fair play to Porter's dad at the end with Broner to. I don't mind the selling the fight stuff at all, it's quite entertaining but he obviously thought a line was crossed and it's annoying how the boxers who do it think it's all ok in the end and a handshake will make it all forgotten, some of the stuff Broner was saying and doing was a bit shitty, even Mayweather looked embarrassed by some of it.

Smith was out his depth and was always going to lose, there's nothing much to say about the fight. It's easy to comment and say what went wrong but it would be completely different to be facing Ward than talking about him afterwards.

Glad Broner got his ass beat, he's such a disgusting human being. Fair play to Porters Dad for having a dig at him too.

When Broner was quizzed at the the end, it was so predictable for him to brush things off by taking about money and how he's financially secure and basically said he didn't care about the loss. People like this don't deserve the nicer things in life.

Broner's application in the ring is absolutely terrible.

Don't @ me.
