After that destruction and the Mayweather announcement, the possibility of Mayweather Vs Pacman has me sat in front of my laptop with my cock out. It's a shame what happened to Hatton as he is a like-able character, but the truth remains he is just not good enough for the elite boxers at this time. Not sure where he goes from here, his tactics in the opening rounds were atrocious. The knockout was as clean as they come.

Last week, former two division champion Bernard Hopkins threw down a challenge to WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch. Hopkins unified the entire middleweight division, defending the title a record 20 times before he moved up to light heavyweight to win a title in that division. Hopkins, 44, skipped over 168-pounds and would like to go down in weight to capture a title there, and then retire. He is open to fighting Froch in England.

Froch welcomes the possible fight.

"Would I consider fighting a guy like that?" Hopkins told BBC Radio 5 Live. "Yeah I would look at that. If he's talking about it then we would definitely look at it if it could be done. I wouldn't want to give too much weight away to Hopkins. He's very experienced and he's very big and strong, but it's something I would be keen to do."

With Hopkins being an HBO fighter, and the network's rival, Showtime, holding an option on Froch's next fight, the possibility of the fight is a longshot. Most experts believe that Froch's style is made for Hopkins and the fight would likely end with a lopsided decision win for the veteran.

If this happens im there I have always wanted to see Hopkins before he retires

Marco Barrera failed the post fight urinalysis for steroids and the test results were kept secret until very recently. the official verdict will be changed to a "No Contest" before June of 2009 by which time Marco Barrera will have ben thoroughly owned by Amir Kahn in the name of Naseem Hamed. In this clip Barrera slips a tell-tale sign of the performance enhancing steroid stanazolol by letting off a gut wrenching dangerously wet and slimy fart when Hamed stuffs a body shot into Barreras gut. Stanazolol is notorious for giving athletes diarrhea and it has been confirmed that Marco feced in his trunks as early as the 4th round and it only got worse from there. As a result of the new information pending public release and Marco's horrendous fight cards which were losing money, Oscar De La Hoya decided to FIRE Marco from Goldenboy Promotions

I was watching some stuff on You Tube and came across this quote under the Barrera v. Hamed fight, anyone heard any news about this???

If Hopkins fights like he did againt Pavlik, he will tear lucky Carl apart.

How old is Hopkins now, like 43? Can't believe he's still doing the business! In fact, if anything, he's getting better with age. I'd fancy him to beat anyone south of 175 at the moment.

I like Froch, he's got balls of steel and his attitude is admirable. He's got limitations as a fighter tho, limitations which B-Hop would cruelly expose. He's slow, comes forward all the time, has a dodgy defence, etc. The reason Bernard is so keen to take this fight is because he knows it should be a fairly easy victory. He may be old but he's not gonna do a Taylor and run out of gas by the end of the 8th round... he'll be there catching Froch with perfectly timed shots all the way to a UD.

WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez is already training hard at the Romanza Gym in Mexico City, taking his first steps in camp to prepare for the biggest fight of his career. Marquez moves up to 143-pounds to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr on July 18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The calm that prevailed yesterday at the Romanza Gym was interrupted by the entrance of several television cameras and a herd of reporters. Reason: Juan Manuel Marquez was to start his training with a view to meeting against Floyd Mayweaher of July 18 in Las Vegas.

Marquez sees some flaws in Mayweather that he plans to exploit. During last week's press conference to announce the fight, Marquez told BoxingScene.com that he was pretty confident of an upset. Mayweather's physical attributes don't appear to be a issue either.

"I'm positive that I'm going to beat Mayweather. It's true that he has a two inch height advantage, a little bit more reach and he is a great fighter - but I know how is beatable, and I will do just that on July 18 in Las Vegas," Marquez told ESTO.

Marquez had told BoxingScene that he planned to keep his camp in Mexico for the full duration, but because of the swine flu epidemic in the country, he may head off to Big Bear, California at some point. He knows the public has him as a heavy underdog. It doesn't bother him. He likes the role of the underdog.

"This is not the first time that I'm the betting underdog. For example, I encountered Manny Pacquiao twice, and in both fights he was the big favorite. Even though I lost the rematch by one point and had a draw in the other, I am sure that I won both fights. Pacquiao said that he hoped to fight Mayweather in November, because Floyd is going to win me, but [that won't happen]. In November I will be his opponent," Marquez said.

At the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, IBF light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (28-0, 17KOs) won a unanimous twelve round decision over Antonio Tarver (27-6, 19KOs) to retain his title. The scores were 116-112, 117-111 and 117-111 for Dawson. He breaks Tarver's streak of winning return bouts. Prior to the fight, Tarver had never lost a rematch.

After a cautious start by both men, a fight broke out in the fourth round when Tarver made a decision to stand his ground and fight. Dawson got lured in and began to trade with Tarver in the fourth and the majority of the fifth. During the seventh round, Tarver buzzed Dawson with a right hand. He followed up with a flurry of punches that forced Dawson to hold on for a bit. Dawson came back in the eight with very hard combinations to the body and the head, backing Tarver up.

Dawson poured on the power in the ninth, pounding Tarver against the ropes in the final twenty seconds. Tarver returned to form in the eleventh, once again stunning Dawson in the final minute and pouring on combinations to make the champion hold on. The two went for broke in the twelfth, but it was Tarver who did better work in the last round.

Is there another part? Great stuff though, that dude actually looks about 3 classes below you in terms of talent, thats testament to yourself.

Good fight so far CLK, looks like you went on to win?

Just watched the new Tyson film, and watching back all his first fights and his sparring really does remind me what an awsome fighter he was.
I have never seen anybody with such power accuracy and speed at that weight.
Tyson tends to get a lot of negative remarks from boxing fans, even on boxing forums a vast majority of people barely have him in their top 10 of greatest heavyweights.

Was Holmes really a better fighter? would Lennox Lewis have beaten a hungry 19 year old Tyson? then theres Rocky Marciano ,Jack Johnson,Jack Dempsey,Sonny Liston,.
I dont doubt any of these fighters ability.. and i agree that Ali and Louis were very special.
But why is Tyson so low down in so many peoples estimations?.
Has the rape and out of the ring stuff tarnished peoples opinion of him as an athlete and champion?.
For me hes an iconic modern day athlete and after watching the film i found him an extremely complex person.

That gimp Vijay on this forum told me Tyson would have knocked out Ali in two rounds. Imo the Tyson bashing from alot of so called knowledgable fans is a result of shite like that - basically a backlash to him being made out to be flawless/invincible in his prime. He was a great fighter in his short prime without a doubt and I think he would have beaten most but not all of the other great heavyweights. Any of the greats who could take him into the later rounds had a great chance, as there are question marks over his versatility and temperament even in his prime. I think Ali had the style to beat him for that reason. Frazier would have beaten him if he made it past the first half of the fight but my hunch is Tyson would have knocked him out before that. I think a prime Tyson would have beaten a prime Lennox Lewis because his chin was so much better. Basically he was one of the best heavyweights ever, but not invincible.

In the film he talks about the fact he has a breathing condition, which hes had since he was a child. So goung into later rounds was always going to be a major problem for Tyson, and i think cuss knew that.
Also i agree his temperament was also a major issue, so winding him up would have been employed by an intelligent fighter.
I really believe Hollyfield used the headbutt five or six times during their fights knowing that it would unsettle him forcing him to lose focus. Which lead to the biting. Which is all that people focus on from them fights, forgetting how dirty Hollyfield had fought.

Tyson had poor stamina, probably from his breathing problem but he usually fell apart after 6/7 rounds. Of his credible losses ie Buster, Holyfield they both came after the mid way of the fight. I think that factors into how people perceive him.
I dont thgink its a case of people not respecting him rather its a case of people being supremely impressed with the abilities and achievments of other great heavyweights like Dempsey who viciously kayoed Jess Willard despite being a blown up light heavy. (Tyson borrowed from Dempsey's style especially the dempsey roll which was an integral part of his defence and offence).
Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali are not only considered better because of their technical proficiency but also their cultural resonnaces as well.

There are a whole host of reasons Tyson isn't considered the best heavyweight ever

Hopkins VS Haye at Heavyweight!

Richard Schaefer Brings Up Possibility Of David Haye Vs. Bernard Hopkins!

by James Slater - Remember when the possibility of a Oscar De La Hoya-Manny Pacquiao fight was first put forth? The reaction, almost universally, was one of derision. Yet, as was mentioned on today's Boxing Hour show on Setanta Sports, an even more bizarre fight has been mentioned as a possibility - David Haye Vs. Bernard Hopkins up at heavyweight!

Apparently, Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer has spoken about the fight maybe happening if "The Hayemaker" can defeat Wladimir Klitschko in June and then take care of his contractual obligations regarding the two Klitschko brothers. As has been previously reported, Haye, should he shock the odds and beat "Dr. Steel Hammer" when they collide in Germany next month, must then fight big brother Vitali, and then give Wladimir a return fight. That's quite a schedule, and it's perhaps optimistic at best to suggest Haye - as talented as he is - will be able to come through all that and have enough energy to fight again against anyone.

However, should this unlikely scene unfold, and if Haye can win his next three fights - all of them against a guy whose surname ends with the letters K and O - waiting for him, according to Schaefer's pipedream, will be the legendary "Executioner" from Philadelphia.

Often, when as bizarre a turn of events such as this one is suggested as a possibility, people say that "stranger things have happened!" But have they with regards to this potential fight?

Sure, the Pacquiao-De La Hoya fight was not one many of us saw coming, and when it did there was much disbelief; but Hopkins, a man who was at his best as a middleweight, moving up to face a prime and powerful heavyweight champion whilst at the age of 45 or more? (which is at least how old the current 44-year-old will be by the time Haye has got through his Klitschko contract).

Some will no doubt argue that due to the brilliance of B-Hop and the fact that Haye is no monster heavyweight in terms of size, the fight could maybe be a winnable one for the Philly master. But at a solid 225-pounds or so, and at 6'3" and with a 78" reach, Haye would hold big enough advantages over Hopkins to cause some concern. It's probably foolish to be even writing about this ludicrous match-up; after all, Haye hasn't beaten Wladimir yet. But I couldn't help it and am perhaps guilty of doing what Richard Schaefer did and got carried away with such a wacky notion.

So many things could happen to stop this "dream fight" from taking place, and until we hear Hopkins himself talk about taking this colossal challenge we must file it away as a massive long shot.

Friday Fight night tonight on Sky sports 2.

Pretty good card with Rogan vs Sexton,Michael Jennings and the Olympians.Looking forward to it.

Also looks like Froch vs Bute could be made soon, saw him on Bunce's boxing hour.

Preacher sues Hatton

Ricky Hatton has a legal battle on his hands. According to The Mirror , former trainer Billy Graham has filed a lawsuit against the Manchester star and is looking to recoup more than £1million pounds in a British High Court. Graham claims that Hattons owes him money from the 2007 welterweight bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and last year's fight with Juan Lazcano.

Graham, 53, had been friends with the fighter for over 13-years, but Hatton fired him after the Lazcano bout and replaced him with Floyd Mayweather Sr. Graham has been paid £530,000 for the Mayweather fight but says the amount is less than his agreed upon 10%. He says Hatton paid him nothing for the fight with Lazcano.

This is sad, their business relationship broke down so they let there personal relationship go to

The father/son combination of unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. and well-known trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. - is back. The two have been feuding for several years but managed to make peace in the last few months. Mayweather Sr. taught his son the sport but after a falling out which took place nearly a decade ago, he began training other fighters like Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Chad Dawson. Uncle Roger Mayeather is the head trainer for Floyd Jr.

Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, FLoyd Jr. revealed that his father has been helping him in camp since the May 2 bout between Pacquiao and Hatton. Floyd Jr. wants to give his dad plenty of support during a very tough time. The elder Mayweather lost between 25 to 30 pounds due to sarcoidosis, a disease that limits lung capacity.

"My dad's been working with me every day since the Hatton fight," Mayweather Jr. said. "We chill out, shoot pool, talk about different fighters."

As far as the Hatton loss, Floyd Jr. says the Manchester fighter did not listen to his father.

"I know what my father teaches," Mayweather Jr. said of the Hatton debacle. "That's not how my father trains a fighter. He'll say, 'Use the . . . jab, man.' I guess a fighter can't be taught new things. Hatton rushes in, he didn't follow the game plan."

WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto is refusing to fight Manny Pacquiao at any weight below 145-pounds. We recently reported that Michael Koncz, adviser to Manny Pacquiao, claimed that Cotto was willing to fight Manny at a catch-weight of 144-pounds, but the Filipino champion is likely going to ask Cotto to come down to 142. Top Rank promotes both fighters and wants to match them at the end of year. Cotto still has to get past Joshua Clottey on June 13 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

“It’s really up to Manny at what weight he’d like to fight Cotto, if at all,” said Koncz to The Philippine Star . “We are told Cotto is agreeable to fight at a catchweight limit of 144. Manny might want to bring it down to 142."

Cotto says that he won't risk his health for a multi-million dollar payday.

"Nothing less than 145-pounds. I'm not willing to fight [Manny Pacquiao] below 145-pounds," Cotto told Primera Hora .

If people thought Floyd Mayweather Jr. was going to return for a payday or two and then head back into retirement, they are very mistaken. Mayweather returns to the ring on July 18 against Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Floyd has been away from the ring since a December 07 knockout of Ricky Hatton.

Since Mayweather’s return, we’ve heard the constant mention of the infamous “hit list” that Floyd provided to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer. Speaking exclusively with BoxingScene’s Luis Sandoval, Schaefer disclosed some of the names on Floyd’s hit list. Manny Pacquiao was an obvious name. Others like Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto are there too. And even a potential fight the down the road with junior welterweight Victor Ortiz, who many view as a future superstar in the sport.

“Yes, he has a hit list. The same thing with Marquez. Both guys want to fight the best. Mayweather, should he win that fight, he wants to go on and [continue to] fight. There is Pacquiao on the list, there is Shane Mosley on the list, there is potentially a Miguel Cotto on the list and maybe down the road somebody like Victor Ortiz,” Schaefer said to BoxingScene.

Floyd against Cotto/Mosley? Will believe it when I see it. Both are winnable fights for him imo, so dunno why he's avoided them for so long.

Will obviously have to take my hat off to him if he adds Pac, Marquez, Cotto and Mosley to his resume by the time he retires tho (for good, not his usual efforts at 'retirement' which just prevent him being called out by other fighters.)

Jim White's hilarious, making this out to be the biggest event in boxing history today on SKY SPORTS NEWS!

Enjoy CLK.

I'm gonna go to the Mayweather open training today im gonna take and post pics later today

Hey CLK, I was going to take the afternoon off to get to Canning town but I some people in my team had issues at work so I couldn't make it. Heard it was impossible to get into the gym at around 3. Hope you got in there early, I'd have love to have got a glimpse of him hitting mitts at full speed and doing him skipping routine. Would love to see a vid of that if you managed to film one.

Will he beat Marquez?
