The official 360 v PS3 v Wii fanboy thread

Ah well, think what you want, apparently my reviews are readable enough to get about £250 worth of games sent to me a month for free to review.

Yes its an old review, after around 2 months of the PS3 coming out.

Just ot point out, in terms of structure, due to the fact I copied and pasted this from an old e-mail i sent out to my employers as I have changed laptops since - this is probably why if it seems clumpy, it is.

Can i have a free game?

The game is great, but the length is not..

That was a very strong start to it though.

Oh, and I disagree with Mario Galaxy (or any game for that matter) being awarded 10. It's good, but ultimately far too easy and there's no real sense of hunting out stars and extras like in previous Mario games. In fact, most games on the Wii are too easy.

As for Bioshock, it's not that great really. Impressive setting and buildup, however clearly dumbed down for the consoles and not a patch on it's predecessor.

I do like your easy going style though. Hopefully you'll continue to build that into something more noteworthy. Is there anywhere else you write for a lot, or mainly your blog?

I must have missed that gem. I'm surprised you haven't killed this guy after his review of MGS4!

Games are entertainment, and thus subjective in light of their merits, I don't give a shit. Leave that up to emusafecker.

However, we can make statements regarding hardware on research or hearsay, but it's a bit much to push that as knowledge without anything to back it up apart from what some PA bloke at Rockstar whispered into your ear or not.

 I missed this! Does that include me for offering some constructive criticism?

nah, you didnt exactly jump on this like a scouser on a fiver now did you? You proved what i thought to be right, wrong, and thats alright. Its how i learn.

You obviously know alot lambs, im sure ill learn alot from you.

I like constructive criticism. I just dont like "your a wanker for thinking something thats not right" criticism.

Look, we all make mistakes, theres no need to be a tool about it though is there now.

I'm not sure I follow you here, are you saying I've been a tool because I've asked you a couple of honest questions? Did you see my second post to your about the games and your style?

Mind you, your comment in the other thread shows what kind of person you are, so maybe I've overestimated you somewhat.

:smirk: ok then, whatever you like. Read again, I didnt call you a tool. I said I like criticism, and correction. At know point did I claim it to be fact, and at no point have i called you incorrect.

All im saying is that when you come up here from the newbs, you make a few posts, and then due to a minor statement that wasnt true you have someone ripping into everything you do.. it pisses you off a little, you know?

Whilst I have listened, admitted im wrong, people keep turning back the subject to the 1 mistake you made. Seems a little narrow minded thats all.

I've not said a thing in that other thread about your mistake with the HDMI, what has pissed me off is the comment to Weaste about why he's so hostile. That's out of order and it's not a good thing to be saying to people.

Anyway, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one and It will be nice to read some more of your thoughts on new games. Maybe you can both inform and learn at the same time ;)

You didn't reply to my earlier questions:

I don't think that anyone can seriously say that it's not a nice gaming box when it is working. But, that's not the issue.

Mines been working 2 years now, infact never had the 3 red lights.

Comparing technicalities is silly too, its also a very common and desperate argument PS3 fanboys use in defence of their console

"PS3 has no good games, but feck off at least it works!" etc etc

IThat's out of order and it's not a good thing to be saying to people.

It's out of order on a forum such as this because he doesn't know who he is talking to, and it could be taken to be offensive by some (for whatever reason). It's called being tactless.

However, it didn't even appear on my radar as anything to get remotely upset about.

by that logic the only good games for the 360 are XBox exclusives.

Sorry lambs. Well at the moment I deal entirely though Xtaster - a reviews website. They also send my reviews out to other places I'm not even sure of.

And after a while, I did actually agree with you on Mario Galaxy - was far too easy. I would still award it a 9 though, still a great game.

Comparing technicallities is not silly when it is done without silly statements. The fact that quite a lot of XB360s have broken makes that an issue for discussion, because it causes stress, bother, philosophy towards the client, etc. It's a valid point because it is factual. These consoles are not virtual machines yet, so 70% of them (especially at the price they are sold at) is the quality of the hardware.

You can like it or not, but it's like saying talking about the old Land Rovers that were riddled with technical faults and the amount of time they ended up back in servicing is not relevant to discussing their merits as a motor vehicle. Of course it is.

I'll keep an eye out. I check out the indie scene and smaller gaming review websites constantly.

It is awesome, there's no doubt about it. However, like Zelda and Paper Mario, it has stopped short of being the greatest iteration because of the difficulty and dumbing down. Tis a shame really.

I'm now off to wank over the Crackdown 2 videos (inFamous). I suggest other's do the same!
