i used to be naive and silly until i saw the light and the magnificent features of the PS3 which i had previously ignored as i was burying my head in my ass over the xbox but the PS3 was worth every penny, love it!
I still do not see any difference between the machines apart from Blu Ray. The multi format games are identical and they both have their fair share of exclusives.

Hardware wise they are very distinct. Multi-format games normally run slightly better on the XB360 as they are developed in the same way as PC games and are quite GPU heavy. Although the GPU in the PS3 has a bit more raw grunt than the GPU in the XB360, the XB360 has embedded RAM on the sub die with certain logic on that sub-die that allows it to do certain things that the PS3 GPU would choke on. Flip the coin however, and the PS3 has a more powerful CPU by quite some stretch, and one that can do certain jobs as well as a GPU. The PS3 graphics system is CPU-GPU combined, the XB360 is GPU only. You can see this in early multi-platform efforts where the PS3 looked like a dog in comparison to the XB360. You simply can't just recompile the code and get it to work on the PS3. Other factors come into play of course, but that's the gist of it, it's all about getting the Cell processor to sing on the PS3.
