The official 360 v PS3 v Wii fanboy thread

What games are good to download for the ps3?

From the Ps Store you mean? I've been playing Super stardust HD, brilliant game and only a fiver. Thinking of getting Pixel Junk Monsters aswell, but I have no money nd I don't think my mum will let me use her card again:nervous:

Orite i presume you didn't have a PS2 then.

Yes I did, and it was still working like it did they day I bought it untill I sold it.

My PS2 also broke down, now you why im mega-pissed at having no more BC.

I shouldnt have to!

I want to play 3 games on the PS2, im not going to splash out on another console which I probably will never use again.

I saw a scond hand PS2 in my local game store for £50, hardly 'splashing out'. Or is this yet another way for you to get a dig in at Sony? I know which one my money is on.

Are they the best 2?

I'm being proper brainwashed by WeasteDevil and Co. (well done lads) and I now want to own PS3.

Already found in a store a 60GB model for ~ 400 GBP and I seem to remember someone mentioned they don't produce this particular model anymore. How's that?
Is there something wrong with it (apart from the price) or what?
It says you can play old PS and PS2 games on it which could only be good thing?

40 GB model = 320 GBP ... seems more reasonable..is it really? Am I about to pay 80 GBP more for an PS PS2 compatibility and 20GB+ hdd space?

The 40GB model will play PS1 games, just not PS2. It also lacks the card readers, but if you have wireless you can stream whatever you want to from your PC anyway, so that isn't really a huge loss, just more of an inconvenience.

Also your 40GB model shouldn't be £320, is that with games/extra pads? I'd have a look round the net rather than buy in store, it is always cheaper.

Jeez this thread has taken off from yesterday . . . have you actually been discussing it seriously?

I know, if only it were more like yourself and Weaste last night:lol:

Yes that was most amusing. I don't blame him for having a go though, I do tend to have the knack for switching between serious and joking at the drop of a hat as you well know, it does confuse people. I just can't help it ;)

Mind you, that's probably because I'm a massive gaming fan full stop, so I have no allegiance to anything other than the game I'm playing. Hence why I can join in the battle from all angles and most often do (including wind ups).

That fecking controller at £40 really got up my nose though, that thread was 100% serious

It certianly was amusing, and yes, you do confuse me at the best of times! I don't know why the £40 controllers is winding you up so much, do you have a PS3? Fair enough it should have been in the box from the start, but instead we got the delightful sixaxis instead.:D

Also you don't need to buy it, and I'm sure in a few months it will come down to a more satisfactory price. New technology always starts at the highest price possible.

No, as per usual I haven't jumped straight in and bought pure hype. When I get my PS3 later this year, it will come with those controllers and I'll have a full range of exclusives to pick off for a lot less money.

It's the story behind the controllers that has annoyed me and the cheek of the cost. Of course all the others charge a fortune for theirs, but it's just the way Sony has done it this time. If it were roles reversed and M$ had done it, I would have been just as fecking annoyed by it but no doubt a few on here wouldn't have been so quick to question my anger ;)

Good, perhaps we can share our level designs on LBP:p

So what price would you have down as reasonable from Sony for the dualShock 3?

That will be one of my first buys.

What I think the price should be doesn't matter. It just shouldn't have happened like that, but then Sony are like MS and any other company, profit driven.

It's bollocks and although nothing will change, I'll still vent.

Any conroller should be £20 max imo

£20 is too low for a starting point in my opinion.

Well they'd be in the wrong business if they didn't want to make a profit. If the controller offered more I would pay £40 no problem, as it is guaranteed to last as long as I have the console so you get your money's worth, however paying £40 just for the added feature or rumble is a bit too steep like you said and a feature which if I'm being honest, I haven't missed. (Aside from once scene in MGS4, you'll know what I mean when you see it)

What? It's an old piece of technology, it's not worth even that really.

It's a basic feature that should have been in from the start. It's fecking 12 year old (or more) technology and now they are officially calling them standard controllers. That's different from just selling extra controllers for a machine.

But I've made my point, there's no further need to keep banging on about it.

Well lets just say if I was the head of SCEE and a new controller was being released, there is no way I would let it go on sale for £20 as it's starting point.

So if I ever get into a powerful position, watch out!

Alright gametards. When exactly do I get the gravity gun in HL2? I've just started it. . .and I love the whole dystopian thing going on.

Spoon - you tried Portal yet?

and you get the gravity gun in the Black Mesa east facility I seem to recall. I take it you're not that far yet. You met Alyx yet?

Which means I don;t already have it. I was worried that I actually had but didn't know how to use it.

How do you rate HL2, sweet cheeks?

HL2 is absolutely awesome, though it is much better the second or third time through when you are more relaxed and can study the scenery and atmosphere more!

Episodes 1 + 2 are great too. The whole thing is a true work of art.

Oh and you get the gravity gun once you've made it to the...

One of the most genius games for years. If it were longer, it would definitely be up there as game of the century so far.

The ending is pure brilliance too.

Oh it is, who would of thought a simple puzzle game would have such a brilliant storyline, an unexpected twist, and some great humour.

Such a shame that it was so short.

p.s. The cake is a lie!
