Guys am I right in presuming that Pat would not be able to field a team which contains Xavi, Villa as well as Barzagli, Verratti or is the nationality rule just there to ensure three players don't come from the same country?

The latter. Can have two from each country, no more.

Thoughts on my team so far?
I'd consider your attacking options, needs speed. I can imagine who you will pick and I don't think many will stop you. Looks good on paper so far. Perhaps to much Liverpool for some but voters might give you slack for that as you're their supporter. Might also give you less.

He's building a Rafa Benitez team, it will be interesting how voters react to that.

I would offer my services but you're ahead of me. I don't think we will go for the same position though.

Pretty solid all round, I think James came a bit early but maybe he wouldn't have lasted back so... You've got a solid team so it's hard to predict

The idea behind James was partly to stop others from picking a good 90s player. I don't think he would have come down, and to be honest, there aren't a lot of players I WANT in the positions I need to fill other than one.

The benefit there is you don't even need to play him...others will have to play their, possibly weaker, 90s players

Yeah I get that logic

34 picks between Ivanovic and Zabaleta, which i guess can be explained by the nationality rule. I'd rate both very similar otherwise.
That's ridicules imo, Ivanovic is three levels above him defensively, while Zabaleta is not much better than Ivanovic offensively.

Well, I could have gone with Zabaleta but I chose Azpilicueta because he can play right or left.

I rate Zabaleta higher as a full back. Ivanovic can play centrally too though and as you point out, the nationality is a big bonus.

Ivanovic is three levels above him defensively,

What does this mean?

They are different type of full backs, both pretty much equal, with the bonus that Ivanovic can play centrally too and you can argue he'd be suitable for a three man defense. That said I always consider it a negative if a player never played successfully in the role he's asked to do, not that it is a big deal though.

Dont agree with that at all. Ivanovic in better form this season, but Zabaleta's been a monster for the last 3. I'd rate them very even, maybe Ivanovic a slight edge defending but Zabaleta better goin forward.

Yeah fair summary. Forced to choose, I'd go for Ivanovic for his superior defensive ability. But both are top 5-10 in their position in the world.

Thoughts on mine cutch?

I'm not Cutch, but I think you and Boris both have about half of a devastating counter attacking side and should be focused in that direction, meaning you can sacrifice pace at CB with your eventual picks and Boris can sacrifice ball retentive abilities when he goes for the rest of his midfield.
