I was really impressed with Alves against Howard. Proper concentration, I love his technique. Im a fanboi cuz I practice the same standup :P he countered very well picked his shots and didn't hesitate. Great job.

This could be a great fight. Love Oliveira but Miller is a huge test for him

Great sub from Miller. Oliveira was looking so slick on the ground too

Very amateurish mistake from Oliveira. Shouldn't have tried to punch Miller into breaking the kneebar. Then he just lay there looking at him until it got locked in. No excuses for those two stupid decisions. He looked good before that kept trying to rush Miller, but why he then paused when it really mattered I'll never figure

Agree, don't know what he was trying to do there, he ddnt even try using his free leg

That rittle dude is shite. Got totally dominated in the 1st round. looking at his punches it almost seems like he's sacrificing his punches by having his stronger leg at the back, assuming he's left legged. He keeps throwing hooks with his leading hand like. If I knew any better Id swear he's right handed and left legged.

Good stuff from Struve. Looked to be in a lot of trouble early on but recovered really well, nice GNP finish

Kos has been so disappointing. Not surprised to see GSP cruising to a UD but expected an interesting fight at least.

What a masterclass. Underwhelmed slightly, but it's exactly what we all thought would happen.

feck Henry and Federer, Gillette should employ GSP and Evra.

Agreed, GSP would sell Gillette products by the million.

Wasn't too impressed with GSP tbh, a pretty tedious, play it safe decision victory. Kos had no plan B and fell apart after the first round, took some major damage to the eye, GSP was only interested in scoring points off him though. At least with Hardy he tried finishing the fight a couple of times. All the technical ability in the world but he's basically the same breed as Fitch, Maynard, Shields, Bisping etc... Has been since his loss to Serra.

See no problem with what he did. Whats the point of risking the fight. If just one of Kos' punches had landed, he could have been on the floor. Fight smart not stupid.

Does not compute in the UFC.

In all seriousness, we just watched an evolution of how well boxing can be utilized in MMA right there. Now GSP has wiped the floor with most of that division hopefully we can get to see him make the step-up in weight division and we can all witness GSP Vs. Anderson Silva.

I've been saying for years, literally years, that you can win MMA fights with JUST a stiff jab or a hard leg lick. Jardine proved the leg kicking bit, as did Forest vs Rampage, but nobody has incorporated a stiff hard jab until this card, and we saw two guys do it.

People really under estimate the power of a jab, a dude like Lennox Lewis could knock people the feck out jabbing with those itsy bitsy MMA gloves.

I also think GSP did press the action all the way. He could have taken his foot off the gas in 4 and 5, Kos was jacked up and had nothing but a wild haymaker for him and he still pressed, engaged and mixed it up.

GSP isn't one to throw caution to the wind to go for a finish, but he was going for the finish, Kos is just a tough kid, period. That Riddle kid is also probably the dumbest fighter in MMA, knocking Rampage off that perch ;p The guy he fought was gassing, and he just wind milled at him while eating 25 jabs a minute the entire fight.

He did try to take him down and finish it a few times. Kos deserves some credit for great scrambling. You don't often see GSP finding it that difficult to stop a guy getting back to his feet after he's taken them down.

Holy feck, Pettis vs Henderson @ WEC53 was amazing  What a fight, and a fitting end to WEC.

If GSP could've taken and held Kos down he'd have laid on top of him for five rounds. Doubt he'd even risk position going for submissions. As it was, a Bisping/Edgar esque striking performance worked out for him, not surprisingly since Kos has one trick in the standup and fought blind in one eye for four rounds. Safety first from GSP, can't argue with results. Guy has no character anymore.

Hopefully he moves up to 185 someday

It was definitely the big highlight but the whole fight was excellent. The pair of them, Pettis and Bendo, are going to be great for the UFC.

Looks like Fedor is set to fight Antonio Silva in January, with Werdum fighting Overeem for the title some other time. Pretty logical approach from Strikeforce. Decent enough fight for Fedor to get back on track with. Solid, ranked opponent, although I think much of the hype around Bigfoot died with the Kyle fight.

What do you mean? GSP's game plan clearly was not to wrestle, it was to work the jab. GSP has already proven when he commits to the wrestling game he can take Koschek down at will and keep him down.

I'm pretty certain he was actively trying to knock Koschek out standing, Koschek, not GSP is what thwarted that. GSP broke his orbital bone, ya I mean what a totally play it safe striking game.

One of the first things GSP did was take Koscheck down, only for Koscheck to recover quickly and then stuff the next couple of takedown attempts. Then GSP found Kos had no answer to his jab and so ... four rounds of jabbing, easy UD.

Kos quickly realized he had no answer to the jab and so ... stood there taking jabs for four rounds, never swaying from his big gameplan of just throwing a wild right out there and hoping GSP would go all Brock Lesnar on him, thinking years back to that Serra fight. Back when GSP was a daring, exciting fighter who took risks.

Like I said, can't argue with results. But if GSP was called Michael Bisping or Frankie Edgar people would be complaining about how predictable that was and that it was the striking equivalent of LnP. But since he's GSP, he just revolutionized boxing in MMA.

Kos was far more disappointing than GSP was impressive. And I wasn't even backing Kos to win that fight.

A broken orbital in the first round is no reflection at all on the striking performance. It's like when people say Rogers was schooling Fedor because he broke his nose (With a completely innocuous jab, coincidentally)

GSP is the master of keeping his opponents guessing. He clearly went into this fight looking to strike. The take down resulted in Kos against the fence, a position he could easily walk up. The other two or three shots were nothing more than half assed attempts. When GSP shoots, he runs through you, like his first shot of the fight.

Only retarded people say Fedor was getting schooled by Rogers. The two fights bear no resemblance to each other. GSP landed jab after jab and straight right after straight right. If you actually believe GSP was "playing it safe" you must be a deluded GSP hater.

Everyone before the fight says "GSP will lay on him for 5 rounds and grind out a decision!" So instead he stands with him for 5 rounds, totally schools him, this was supposed to be Koscheks best chance mind you.

Even in the final seconds of the fight GSP was pressing the action, putting himself at risk for Koscheks only hope, a wild right hand. Ya, play it safe my ass.

He was always going to end up winning the fight standing. Kos isn't a good striker. It was obviously the one area GSP had the overwhelming advantage so I don't know why anyone would be surprised with how the fight went. Definitely wasn't getting another LnP decision over someone with that standard of wrestling.

GSP could stand there and chip away at Kos all he wanted. He just needed to avoid a wild right, which he could see coming from miles off and which Kos evidently had no idea how to set up properly. Plus turned out Kos was blinded in the right eye for the vast majority of the fight as well, added bonus.

Obviously GSP is fantastic at combining his wrestling with his striking and knows how to score points with judges, so no surprise he looked to score a few quick takedowns either. This would in turn discourage Koscheck from actually wrestling with him early on when it was essential he mixed in his wrestling to help set up his right. Since Koscheck was able to stuff a few takedowns and score one himself GSP lost all interest in wrestling, and at that point Kos had to take the initiative and keep GSP engaged but instead he just stood there waiting to throw a haymaker. Utterly retarded fight from Koscheck. His trainers were wondering what he was doing out there as well.

Look at GSP vs Fitch. That guy would absolutely destroy Koscheck. But since Koscheck has exactly one more tool than Fitch in the standup GSP wasn't going to take the risk and put on that kind of performance again. GSP will take a plodding decision victory every single time, and it was up to Koscheck to prevent that happening. He didn't step up and so GSP scored an easy decision. The very dull story of the fight.

And the point about Fedor-Rogers is that in both cases the damage was irrelevant and not a reflection of anything. Who cares if Kos took a broken orbital in the first round? It happens. Did he take any other damage besides in the following 20 minutes of getting tuned up? No.

Oh man, Aoki survived a K1 round with Jienotsu but caught a brutal knee 4 seconds into the MMA round :( Feel like crying. Another embarrassing defeat for Aoki

Otherwise, great event so far. Sergei picked up a nasty KO victory and Overeem demolished Duffee quickly as well.

Can't believe Duffee got a title fight so early. Personally I think he's shit, and not a particularly big draw
