The MMA thread

I think Belfort will take Silva. I'd never have said that 18 months ago, but I think it'll happen, not that I'll be putting any money on it.

Predictions:

Anderson Silva v Victor Belfort

Forrest Griffin v Rich Franklin

Jake Ellenberger v Carlos Rocha

Jon Jones v Ryan Bader

Miguel Torres v Antonio Banuelos

I'm really looking forward to Franklin & Griffin. That could go either way. I'm expecting Jones to put on a clinical performance also.

Silva, Franklin, Ellenberger, Jones, Torres for me

But really I want Belfort to win. I just slightly favour Silva in the match up, I hope I'm wrong

Chances of a decent stream? I might stay up, forgot about this and I gotta adjust for the Superbowl anyway.

Why don't you like Silva?

Well he needed a wake up call for sure, no idea how he'll act in his next fight but the Sonnen fight should have served as that wake up call.

I just find there are plenty of fighters in his division that are more likable to me than he is. And while he's the most skilled fighter of them, sometimes its more exciting to watch the best be toppled by someone else going to the next level.

Silva looks to be serious about this fight. Belfort did act the cnut by asking for it after training at Blackhouse. Didn't go down well with Silva at all. Look at him in the weigh ins yesterday

Yeah all good stuff, but surely its no more motivating than all Sonnen's talk. I'm hopeful that if he wins, it'll be in style and be a decisive stoppage but with Silva you just dont know.

And personally I'd prefer to watch a fighter who isnt as skilled but puts on a great show instead, preferably beating the more skilled but unmotivated and arrogant fighter.

For me the worst thing will be if Silva doesnt turn up for a few rounds again, then just about does enough to get a decision or subs Belfort.

We all know Sonnen's a bag of wind, hypes the fight well all the same. Silva is too experienced to have gotten wound up by the trashtalking. I don't expect a lacklustre display tonight. I genuinely feel this is the catalyst that proves Silva's status as the very best.

He came out in a jiu jitsu gi with the intention to sub Sonnen precisely because he was pissed off with Sonnen's comments about the N o g black belt. There's no doubt he was upset

Not very nice from Scouse Kelly suckerpunching Cerrone. But Cerrone got the last laugh with a nice RNC

And he did it. But he bided his time and took a beating, but he did it. He didn't let it interrupt his gameplan. Course you'd want to get him back but it takes a big man to do it like that

I don't know what the fuss is with UFC, but I'm going to watch it just so I can entertain myself with sweaty men grappling each other in interesting positions for like, over an hour.

Banouelos did a good impression of someone the ufc recruited from a bar, in his first ever mma fight

Oh yeah start fighting in the last 10 seconds, brilliant strategy.

Joe Rogan very nearly jizzed himself with all those transistions.

I had that as a draw, doing very little and the scoring the TD does very little for me in terms of offense.

I can't stand seeing guys do feck all and then nicking rounds with a late takedown, it's actually revolting knowing how well it works. Still, have to blame Rocha for not doing more himself.

Rocha looked great on the ground though. Ellenburger can feck off

He had his number on the ground, should have done something with it in Rnd 2 & 3. Ah well onto the proper fights.

We all know it happens though, so Rocha should know it too. He should time one of his wild knees and end the fight.
