He's right. He shouldnt be fighting for the title.

Weidman has gone on a skid but against the best of the best and he was doing ok in all them fights to. Adesanya hasn't really fought any top fighters to be honest.

I thought the main event was pretty meh to be honest...I saw the result before though and all the people hyping it up which didn't help

I see Adesanya's rise as comparable to Ngannou's - he didn't really fight anyone impressive until he smashed an over the hill Overeem, which then got him a title shot against Stipe. Very similar circumstances for Adesanya imo.

Yeah that's spot on actually. I was hoping UFC wouldn't rush him in to the shot cos I think he's struggles Vs top opposition at the moment but I equally think they're worried that if they don't take the shot early with the fighters they may lose and that loses interesr. If he went against a Romero for example I couldn't see Israel coping with the pressure of Romero charging him down. He struggled with it Vs Anderson last night.

Kelvin was cringing as feck with the title stuff can't blame him though cos he needs to stay in the spotlight and hope the fight gets rebooked pretty quickly. I think he knows a lot of people will want Israel in a title fight soon after last night

The excitement around Israel is understandable and justified, but yes he hasn't been tested with the highest calibre of opponents......yet. That he's got all the skills to be a bone side superstar is plain to see. The way he fights, his physical attributes , his calm demeanour and personality......he's got the x factor. Destined for greatness (possibly!).

I agree with that, big fan of his and excited to see him reach his potential. Just don't want another case where he gets pushed way to soon and it backfires miserable. Like @Raoul pointed out with Ngannou and there's also people like Till who it happened to. They're desperate for the next McGregor that they push these fighters way to quickly then just shit on them when they don't deliver.

He should be fighting someone like Jacare or Weidman next I think before a title shot is given. The fact Dana said this was a number 1 contendership fight was stupid considering Anderson has won 1 fight in 7 or so years (and that was a joke of a decision) and Adesanya has beat 1 person in the Top 10.

Agree with that. Till is a good case in point.

I think Adesanya's a couple of fights away providing he fights top 5 opposition. Wouldn't be agaisnt Weidman being next. It really would be a disappointment if he was mismanaged and suffers a major setback as a result. There really is no reason why he shouldn't be the next big thing given his obvious qualities.

I'm scared of Johnny Walker. How is it possible to simultaneously be a jester and a great MMA fighter.

Ngannou/Cain this weekend, thoughts?

Bit of a fascinating one really. First fight Cain has had in over two and a half years. Can he return and bring a similar pace to what he has throughout his career? A high tempo pace is what could tire out Ngannou quickly. There's question marks over whether Cain is capable of that after all the time off and injuries though. I think Ngannou get's a bad rap as well recently, people seem more annoyed by the UFC pushing him too fast. Cannot underestimate his size and the power he has. Two completely different heavyweights.

I think a lot points to Cain coming in and outworking him at a high tempo or at least trying to do that but I have a real feeling Ngannou is going to KO him inside one round.

A lot of the intrigue stems from the fact that Ngannou’s most recent performance saw him back to his UFC median, in a sense. If he hadn’t had the 2nd fight with Blaydes, then everything would point towards a comfortable Cain victory, injuries permitting. The fact that Francis let his hands go and seemingly exercised a few demons from the Stipe fight, i.e. finishing a top tier grappler in the division, makes this upcoming fight more compelling.

Personally, I think it’s better for the division if Ngannou wins here and I would like to see him do it. I like Cain and in his prime he was ferocious; however, for me, Ngannou’s initial run to the title shot was one of the most exciting things in recent UFC memory. Stopping Cain would go a long way towards restoring some of the aura that surrounded him during his ascent.

I think at this point, we have a fairly strong idea of what both men are looking to do. Cain wants to impose his will on you by outworking you, securing the takedown and ensuring you don’t get back up, via relentless ground and pound. Francis wants to knock your head into the 3rd row. I’d be utterly shocked if either man deviated from this for their upcoming fight. Whilst I’m not massively confident, like @JP77 I have a feeling Ngannou is going to connect, and connect early. Thoroughly intriguing fight and one I can’t wait for.

I think Ngannou may get him early. Cain can be a slow starter and if Ngannou lands I can't see him surviving it. Wouldn't mind seeing it in all honesty so DC shuts up about Cain being the best ever every time he speaks.

Just put on Bellator, saw a decent fight, but the big surprise, was that Big John was the guy interviewing the winner after the fight.
Never seen that before, it was weird.

OMG!!

The main event of Bellator was a non contest after 20'ish seconds, after Mitrione kicked Kharitonov straight in the nuts.
Well, that was worth sitting up for....

Just looked at the upcoming UFC cards and noticed they can't even seem to book up their cards months in advance any more. They must be having cashflow problems or something.

Yeah. I'm going to spend July in the northern evil empire, and i want to know what events i can attend, but they are not announced yet. Hopefully there is a good one close to the NYC area.

What is the fight you all would most like to see? Because there are all these superfights on the horizon and to be honest I’m a little meh about most of them.

I’m thinking Holloway vs McGregor

Holloway vs Ferguson doesn’t really fill me with that much excitement.

MVP vs Adsanya

Khabib vs Tony is the only one.

Annoyed that the next UFC event is on Monday morning. Wont be able to see Ngannou vs. Cain. But Daley vs. MVP should be lit :D

Seems like there's quite a bit of grudge in tonight's Bellator main event.

Why do they put UFC events on sunday nights?
They don't want fans in other parts of the world to watch their events? Or rather, don't want fans elsewhere?

Monday is a holiday in the US so that's likely why.

Just realized MvP Daley was on tonight. Its taking place down the road...had I known it was on I would've gone.

Anyone know what time UFC main card start at UK time?

Oh right thanks. Not to bad for me as I've no work on Monday.

We got a sliiightly delayed christmas party sunday night, so depends how shitfaced i am

Looking forward to the fight tonight though, love grudge fights.

What is it Jürgen Klopp puts in the Bellator fighters' face before they fight?
