The MMA thread

Funny seeing the reality star Geordie lose before, about time. Bellator/Bamma have been feeding him amateurs for the last year, putting him on co main events to get bums in seats. He put him down in the 1st round and turned away from the finish too.

Lopsided main card so far. De La Rosa (the male) congratulated his wife with the win like it was the most expected thing to happen. No cheer on his face. Kassem just didn't stand a chance.

No on can actually believe this. Christ this is so bad.

No chance that happens. Don't see the point in Silva v Nick again either as the first wasn't exactly a great fight. Suppose if it gets Nick in the octagon though..

What you guys referring to? I saw the fight... Something happen in the post?

It was both entertaining and frustrating to watch. Anderson in particular has been incredibly frustrating since the 2nd Weidman fight...since he's generally far too respectful and thankful of his opponents and not nearly cut throat enough compared to his old self. He's also far too obsessed with being an entertainer not focused enough on putting opponents away (see Bisping, Weidman 1, and Nick Diaz fights). Last night Adesanya got sucked into the whole "lets give the fans a show" routine as well. He could've been far more lethal if he wanted too imo, but obviously had too much respect for Silva to finish him off in a way he would've gone after other opponents. All things said it was a fun fight to watch but could've been immensely better had each fighter not been so reluctant to commit 100%.

This would be Anderson's last UFC fight before retirement and it would be in his hometown, so I could see it happening in a similar manner to Bisping fighting Henderson in Manchester a couple of years back.

Is it me or is Conor tweeting a lot about future match ups? Almost as if he's trying to pressure Dana into booking him [maybe the rumors mean Dana doesn't want to touch him until its cleared up?]

He likely is putting a bit public pressure on Dana. The UFC are in a precarious position with Conor at the moment, as they can't afford to allow their primary cash cow to lose another fight since that would almost certainly remove his entire mystique to where fans would stop buying into his usual pre-fight trash talk, which would result in considerably less PPV buys for them. They need to therefore give him an interesting but beatable opponent that leaves Conor looking like "he's back" to his old ways. Max might therefore be the best option.

Basically an exhibition match but man was it good. You don’t just step in on Anderson as he showed enough to Adesanya with those counter rights that he could just go through him. Liked that spinning back heel kicks to the calf that Anderson was going for.

Did people not see the first Diaz-Silva fight?

It was awful and both guys are all but done. Nick is an alcoholic who doesn’t want to fight.

He won't fight normal fights anymore but is willing to come back for a money fight. Same applies to Nate.

Even when he’s in the octagon he doesn’t want to fight.
Was his last fight Anderson? Because he wanted to fight in that fight and kept beckoning Anderson to come to him and stop backing up hence why he started to take the piss and lay down on the ground and so on.
