The MMA thread

I thought Koscheck started well....
Might be time for him to find a new job soon.

Uhm.... i think my stream was fecked.
Watched Kocheck vs some guy, then Maia vs Laflare started, and the stream stopped.
When i got the stream back up again, Maia was fighting Usman. WTF? :o

Lol, i googled it, apparantly i've been sitting up after work, watching a card from 2015.
I'm sleepy, i should go to bed :p

Generally underwhelming card. Expecting a much better one next weekend with Wonderboy v Till.

Till is so unlikeable. I can't support this guy. Plus he's a Scouser. Bellew's insufferable, but Till somehow is far worse. Many people will enjoy him being KO'd some day.

Finding it difficult to call this fight, although head says Wonderboy.

Yeah, Till is insufferable. He posted a video on instagram of him absolutely destroying his sparring partner who looked nowhere near his level. Anyone who's trained Martial arts knows that's a dickhead move and he got a lot of stick for it. Hope Wonderboy schools him and I think he will.

Sort of thing I'd do.

I usually find streams on Reddit, i didn't read info about what was being streamed, but it said that Maia was the main event, so looked like the right one to me. I sat up till 7 fecking 30 in the morning, watching 3 year old event :nervous::confused::lol:

Dominick Reyes is one to watch out for. Maia was a snoozefest as usual, knew it would end this same way again.. He should work on his fecking takedowns or something. Most boring fighter in the ufc for me.

Bring on wonderboy vs Till, Cuntington vs Dos Anjos and Romero vs Whittaker. Those 3 fights will be incredible.

Champions League final and then Till to fight Wonderboy right after in Liverpool.
Here's to hoping the Scousers have a bad night.

I like Wonderboy. But he’s blocking the path to Woodley as #1 contender, and no one wants to see that fight again in a hurry - the UFC certainly won’t schedule it anytime soon.

So if Wonderboy were to lose alongside wins for Covington and Usman it would be good at the top end of that division as it would shake it up a little

Yeah, I think objectively for the division Wonderboy losing is the best outcome.
Till is just insufferable; whereas Wonderboy comes across as a level-headed, decent guy.

If I was an aging fighter I know I'd risk it.
Win a fight or two that I would never win without the drugs, take the money and retire when caught

Interesting. It’s my personal belief that if you piss hot once, you should be out of the running for any future accolades, such as GOAT, or greatest in your weight class.

Fabricio was/is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time and has the names on the record to more than substantiate that view. If he decided that a few quid was worth more than his considerable legacy, then that is pretty shocking to me.

Thanks. Thought it'd be longer than that. Definitely looking to put something on Till. Think a K.O. is where the odds will stretch.

If he’s gonna knock him out it’ll be within the opening 2 rounds. If he can’t get him out of there, there’s a good chance he’s getting finished late himself, in my opinion.

No point jumping to conclusions (Werdum case) before the investigation is over. Wouldn't be surprised if he is innocent and victim of tainted supplements.

Will be amazed if Wonderboy can knock him out. It'd be something like a liver shot from mid-section roundhouse, not a headshot, imo.

Till closes distance fast, has much better hands than Wonderboy and is a pressure fighter. Wonderboy needs distance for a kick to the head and also to set it up - that'll be very difficult vs. someone throwing punches and closing space so efficiently.

Think Till could walk on to a spinning back kick in that same way though as he's open for that all fight.

It'll take something really special for Wonderboy to fend off a thai-boxer as complete as Till effectively enough to knock him out, imo.

Apologies, should've been more specific when I used the word 'finished'. What I was insinuating was that I can envisage Thompson winning via late TKO over an exhausted Till. He's a huge welterweight, has previous with missing weight and looked totally and utterly gassed against Nicolas Dalby in a 3 rounder. For me, his gas tank is a huge question mark as of right now.

Agree with that, but Wonderboy will have to do a lot of work to make Till work outside of his own comfort zone. Wonderboy, being a counter-striker, is going to have to take so many risks if he wants to get that volume (output) extracted. Normally it's not a problem for him because he makes the opponent conform to his awkward style, but Till will invite exchanges and walk Wonderboy down (or force him to keep distance via kicks) throughout the whole bout.

If Wonderboy had an obvious speed advantage, I think the fight would be more measured in terms of what Till could attempt, but I don't think he has that with hands and feet can only be used so many times without reply.

Said ages ago that I think this is a stylistic nightmare for Wonderboy and a bad fight to take and I'm really intrigued to see what tactical approach he adopts and whether it's enough to make Till think twice with his approach work.

Had a great time in my first UFC event ever. Pretty decent event over all if you ask me.

Got to meet and talk with Chito Vera, Marc Goddard and more importantly, Vanessa .

I also appeared in TV for the walk ins of Pantoja and Moreno. I went there specifically to give good luck to Moreno because he was a key piece on my bets. Cocksucker...

Not sure i would do it again though. It's fecking taxing on the neck. Sitting there, moving your head between the octagon and the screens for 6-7 hours wasn't nice. Also super expensive drinks and food.

If i do it again, ill probably just pay for the VIP package to get access to the open bar inside the vip area. At least i could get to know more fighters and interesting characters back there. Or maybe just get to the venue for the main card and watch the rest at home.

Great experience.

WTF ? You had Jenni Andrade there and you're looking at Vanessa ? Have a word with yourself.

I actually said hi to her too. Stunning really.

I was disappointed Luciana Andrade was missing though. She is definitely my favourite overall (if i had to choose one for a one night stand, probably Arianny though hahah).

Hopefully wonderboy does it Sunday can’t really warm to Till myself reminds me to much of Bellew. Ideal few days Liverpool lose tomorrow and Till Sunday making miserable weekend on merseyside
