Aldo has called McGregor a pussy. Isn't that a bit rich considering how long it took them to fight due to Aldo pulling out? McGregor also stopped him in 13 seconds. It just sounds like bitterness from Aldo

goading McGregor into a rematch is Aldo's only chance at being anything but a paper champ from this point on, people will always bring that 13 ko up.

If he's the beltholder then he's the champ. If Conor doesn't want a rematch but wants to keep the belt then that's on Conor.

I agree but I think people will torture Aldo about it forever.

I don't think anyone will. LW will just move on as if Conor was never a part of it. He could've given Aldo a rematch just as Diaz gave him one, but I suppose he didn't want to make the weight cut and used the 13 sec knockout as an excuse to avoid a rematch.

I'm sure it will weigh on Aldo still and he wants the rematch for some redemption which is fair enough and I understand. I don't think people should hold the KO against him though. He was a dominant champion before Conor and I'd guess he will dominate the division again to be honest. Equally I don't think people can criticise McGregor for not giving a rematch, he did what he set out to do from the beginning and will hopefully defend his LW belt in some interesting fights. For me the LW division has the far more interesting fights.

He did offer him a rematch though? Might have been short notice but Nate was offered the same deal and defeated Conor.
Anyway Conor moved up a division. I don't think fighters who move up divisions should be obliged to continue fighting the big fights from the division they came from.
He's simply not a 145er anymore. They might as well offer RDA to Jose.

Don't see any issue. McGregor rightly stripped of the FW title given he isn't showing much interest in defending it. Which in itself I understand given the tougher weight cut, the big fights elsewhere and the fact that he has more to lose than to gain from an Aldo rematch.

Nobody is really in the wrong, they just have different priorities.

Aldo best chance to fight McGregor is to make a title defense then move up to 155 and challenge him there as a champion.

Mostly them yeah and the pseudo-irish.

But look at the shit with Jon Jones, that whole division is still in his shadow, hasn't been 'champ' for 2 years.

It's different though (for me at least). Jon Jones defended his title like 8 times? He proved in the octagon he is a different beast, the best light weight by far.

Getting to the top is easy, staying there is the hard part.

I doubt any MMA fan would even consider Conor over Jose Aldo in an all time ranking of the best fighters.

Hopefully Conor starts defending his belts, or retires, so the sport can move on.

edit. I think i might have misinterpreted your point. In both cases, its the UFC to blame i think. They have no idea how to deal with their top draws. Anyway in both cases too, its gonna be fanboys the ones who gonna talk crap and undermine the current champions. The rest of us MMA fans, we just want for the divisions to carry on.

Well he only has one belt now so he'll have to defend it in his next fight as it's unlikely he'll be moving up or down weights in the near future. As for him retiring can't see how that would be a good thing for the sport.

Ugh. Hope that's just some sort of response to the UFC taking away one of his belts.

that would be a first one for him... lets hope that's the way it goes. El Cucuy or Khabib would be a great fight.

I wouldn't discard the WW belt though. Woodley would love that money.

To be fair he's more ambitious than the majority of fighters. He said early on in his UFC career that if he won the 145 belt he wanted to go up to 155 to try to be a two weight champ which he's now done. RDA getting injured and the Diaz fights sidetracked him, or i think he would have defended the FW belt by now. Was the rematch that Aldo turned down at 196 going to be at 145 or 155 do you know?

I think Ferguson or Khabib would both be great fights, Khabib would be interesting because of the clash of styles and Ferguson/McGregor i think would be a cracking fight. Id love to see McGregor fight Diaz again but hopefully that isn't his first defence. Woodley would love to fight McGregor for the payday i'm sure but i personally don't see Conor being in a rush to go up to 170 especially against Woodley. And Woodley will be busy for the next year with Thompson and Maia who deserves a shot.

Seemed sober to me, and honest about his shortcomings. Joe Rogan isn't exactly going to cross examine a guest, I grant you.

I really like Jones, but come on. You're young and at the height of your physical prime... who are you kidding, son? You don't need no boner pills to get/keep it up.

Still, I can't wait till July to see him fight again. Hope he can keep it together this time.

Anyone think Tim Elliot has a prayer on Saturday?

I'm sure he will lose, but I have a feeling he will give him a good fight

Also looking forward to the co main event

Barely a punchers chance, I expect Mighty Mouse to dominate every single second of the fight. Tough to see anybody stopping this guy at this weight right now, I guess they have to give the winner of Cejudo/Benavidez the title shot after.

I like the fact that Elliot doesn't seem to be in awe of MM, this bodes well for him. Hopefully more of a scrap than the Cejudo shitshow.

I think MM ends it inside 2 rounds.

Hope Benavidez beats Cejudo as well, can't stand Cejudo at all.

Tim Elliot has a nice style, i think it reminds me of myself

but his punches are not gonna KO anyone, specially MM. His only chance would be to catch MM in a bad position and submit him somehow.

Agree with the popular opinion. MM gets an UD or finish.
