The MMA thread

I've never seen anything like that happen before, was it caught in the cage or between the canvas and base of the cage? Complete bullshit, agreed.

it was directly in the cage, his toe was trapped somehow. What a weird situation. I would appeal if i were him.

Got Benavidez for the next one, but i want Cejudo to win it.

I'm going Benavidez too, Cejudo is an exceptional athlete though. Their feud/fight selling skills on TUF were awful, hopefully they'll give us a good fight instead!

Nice fight. Still can't see either beating DJ, seems like it's all up to Elliot to shake this division up.

Dj looks so calm. Is he even tired?

They probably could have grappled like that for hours. DJ is the master of maintaining dominant position.

MM is so good. Glad he kept his belt.

Tim Elliot was class too. Good thing we probably gonna see a lot of him from now on. He needs to win his next one though.

good night of fights. Tomorrow ill download the prelims...

All of that work and effort for Tim only to be wrestle fecked for 4 rounds.
MM is just too good.

Thought Cejudo decision was bad

Was expecting either draw or a win for him

Not seen the stats but I felt he landed the most significant strikes in each round and controlled majority of the fight

The judge who gave JB round 1 should be fired on the spot

Great fight from Elliot, shame he didn't have the gas to maintain his first round tempo. MM showed his class to find a way to control him but I think it is promising to see a fighter emerge that seemed to give him so much trouble whilst standing. However slim, it'll give a bit off renewed hope to the division that he (MM) can be got at (something which no flyweight has even come close to prior to that).

I'm not a great fan of dry humping for 4 minutes each round but on some occasions it is more tolerable than others. Elliot kept it pretty lively from the bottom as well which helped.

The "foot in the cage" debacle will no doubt see a revision of the rules. What else could the ref do but let him get his foot out?
Masvidal gave no fecks and carried on blasting him in the face :wenger:, would have been nice to see a bit of common sense/courtesy prevail rather than such an anticlimactic ending for both the fighters and the fans.

Glad I stayed up to watch the Mighty Mouse fight. There was a brief stretch in the 1st when I thought he may tap out. Incredible performance from Elliot to even make it into a 2nd round, much less stay in it for the entire 5. Much better than Cejudo fared against MM in the last fight. I hear he is moving up to Bantamweight next, which makes sense since he seemed a bit big for 125.

Tim Elliott did far better than many other challengers, should be proud of himself.

I thought Cejudo won or it was a draw, can't see how Benavidez won that...

The Cejudo fight was a tough one to score after the point deduction. He should've known better to avoid doing it a 2nd time.

The Cutelaba fight was a bit disappointing. I had high hopes for him, but his inexperience showed. He's still only 23 and will improve in time, and once he does, will be a menace.

Says the lot that a surprisingly good showing against DJ still finishes with a comfortable four rounds to one win. Two more wins to beat Silva's defence record.

I don't think an old school fighter like Maynard appreciated the constant attempts to grab his heel/going to ground easy trying to get Gray to enter his guard. Hall was kicking him up too on the feet.

Gray looked his age, basically.

Caught up on it last night. Can't see anyone troubling MM at the moment he is to good at Flyweight. Shame it doesn't attract big numbers of viewers watching. Here's hoping he has 2 quick defences and moves up a weight class really

Just rewatched Hunt vs Bigfoot 1. What a ridiculous fight! Hope Hunt settles his dispute and fights again soon.

Also De Lima wants to wait to face Rory next. Should be a great fight, expect Rory to have too much for Lima if the fight goes to the ground. Hopefully we see Rory against Korsekhov soon enough too. Weird to think that Rory absolutely destroyed the current UFC welterweight champ.

Was looking forward to seeing the first Norwegian in the UFC in 206, but have to go to a fecking christmas party.
Maybe i'll go home drunk and watch it, not sure how tempting that is though :p

Emil Meek's last fight before his UFC debut this weekend :)
