Christ...i suppose its better than Rashad. OSP has lost to Texeira and Bader in his last 5 fights.

OSP? Meh!

I wonder if Jones knew he had OSP lined up before he said he'd be happy to fight anyone.

I really want Jones to move up to heavyweight. There's so few fights left for him at light heavy. Rematch with Gus and a scrap with Rumble are the only ones I'd be interested in. I'm not really even fussed about watching him comprehensively beat DC again.

Damn, Mark Hunt was up for it as well. I guess OSP was either already sorted or Jones didn't fancy fighting a big heavyweight like Hunt on short notice.

For an interim belt...!? Cormier out for a while then?

Interim? Normally I would think that it's due to a long injury but knowing UFC, DC probably has a cold and is available the following card but they put interim to sell more PPVs the greedy cnuts. Interim has completely lost it's meaning in my opinion.

Bones was never going to accept Hunt. He even said that he's thinking about HW but for now, the smaller HWs like Cain or Werdum. He also specifically stated he didn't want to fight the larger ones as he feels it requires a different sort of training and obviously more bulking up so he's not ready for that.

It would have been good to see the Gus rematch as most people think Gus doesn't deserve a title shot coming off 2 losses so they could have still marketed it heavily without even needing the title on the line.

How is OSP deemed worthy of an interim title shot? I can understand the case for Jones, losing out on an actual title shot and having not been beaten for the belt, but lets play devil's advocate (or indulge in wild fantasy) and imagine OSP wins. He would have to be DC's next opponent, you can't have a Champ facing another fighter whilst someone else holds the interim, and has done nothing to be deserving of such a shot at the big time. The only real scalp I can think of is Shogun and he was a shadow of his former self by that point in time.

I don't realistically think he has a chance to win unless Jones has a catastrophic night but surely that just means it shouldn't be for a title of any sort. If he were to somehow win the UFC would come out of it looking ridiculous. They are essentially gifting the interim title to Jones for beating someone we all expect him to beat and who is currently a reasonable distance from earning himself a genuine title shot (a 1 fight winning streak having beaten Cavalcante!).

I don't mind the match-up on it's own, I don't mind the idea of Jones fighting for the interim (although it does seem a bit quick considering DC fought 6 months ago and should really be against a genuine contender like Rumble or even Teixeira at a push) but to combine the two is such an awful idea that it reeks of turd polishing to give the card a bit of glitz.

Yeah it's just for money. It's obvious when there's an interim title fight at 200 when the actual champion is on the card! I think UFC is risking their belts going the same way as boxing i.e. worth nothing at all.

Aldo is such a shit trash talker.

In fairness the fact his shit trash talk has got you talking about him kind of implies he's actually quite good at it? He's hyping up a fight and I guarantee it gets the McGregor fans talking, especially the ones who only watch cos of McGregor and no other fights. Lets see how many "13 second" comments come out again soon!

Its awful. He questions Mcgregors power when he got KO'd by the guy and he now accuses him of doing drugs and avoiding failing tests by taking them on fight week. Considering his own checkered past with drug testers, reminds me of the saying "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

Again, I'm not disputing the quality of it more the fact it has got people talking and has therefore worked.

Oh and pure speculation but I'd suggest he's probably right, but I'm cynical and think the majority of top level athletes in contact sports like MMA and boxing use some kind of steroid....I have no proof or anything either just my opinion (I'd say Aldo is as well for what it's worth.)

Conor McGregor had a drug test during his camp. He posted pictures of it. So even there Aldo doesn't know what he is talking about.

When Aldo "trash talks", I feel like patting him on the head and saying "well done son, that'll teach them!"

Remember that time Jose Aldo got a surprise visit from USADA, tried to get the tester deported and spilt his piss when he was handing it to said tester thus destroying the sample.

Do you even read my posts? I didn't say it was good trash talk (for what it's worth most trash talk is pretty shit really.) He's hyping a fight and I guarantee it will work among casual fans o Mcgregor. They won't give a shit about Edgar but they'll all want him to fight Aldo again cos he criticised their one and only God.

It's funny cos it's working because you're obviously slightly annoyed by it. Or else you wouldn't of bothered posting about it. Baring in mind you're the one who brought it up.

I do find it rich when McGregor fans get uptight about peoples trash talk though. What's funny is I seriously doubt he's arsed as it helps sell his next fight if he loses again to Diaz.

He did the test about an hour or so later didn't he?

I would rather Frankie fight. It would be more interesting and poses both men more questions. That's why I'm rooting for Frankie at 200.

Honestly, I don't give a shit about the FW division. Only LW and up for me. And LW only makes my interest because of all the good fighters in there. I just found it funny seeing Aldo act so out of character and look kinda stupid doing it.

On 197, Cormier getting injured just really annoying. Fighters in general are getting injured way too often right before a big fight.

The UFC is after money from a lot of casual fans with McGregor though really and I'd suggest the more people shit talk him the more people want to see that fight. Only time will tell.

You contradict yourself a bit as well, suggest you don't give a shit about FW but want Frankie to beat Aldo and comment on the fighters involved? That's giving a shit really.

Cormier injury to me is cos of where he trains, they're notorious for injuries at AKA. Think they train their fighters to hard.

Well, if it was up to me, McGregor would be in LW and the FW division would disappear. As it is, McGregor still holds the belt in FW and so the FW division is rammed down our throats all the time.

OSP is apparently only one of two UFC fighters to submit someone using the Von Flue choke. I'm guessing the other is Jason Von Flue.

He'd need at least a year or two, training predominately in grappling before he should even entertain the notion. Just look at James Toney. Got took down by the laziest single leg I'v ever seen.
McGregor won't shoot for a takedown unless he is rocked.

So DC offered OSP to train at AKA fire the bones fight? Sure, join the camp that Is notorious for getting people injured.

Oh FFS - Now Tony Ferguson is out of the Khabib fight.
I say move Beneil or Chiesa up to fight Khabib. Both are in training for the same date. I'm sure both would like to test themselves and push higher up the rankings. I'm sure Cowboy is somewhere lurking in the shadows.

What is the fecking point...

They should just schedule cards and give fighters 10 days notice to fight, across the roster. Fighters just can't hack two month training camps.

Becoming another 2012 for the UFC, been hit with some crazy injuries already.

The UFC can't catch a break with Khabib - either he's injured or his opponents are. He is one of the best fighters around if he can stay healthy.

FFS. It really is at the stage where there is not even any point getting excited about a fight before the weigh ins actually take place. It would suck if Khabib can't get a replacement fight, he's been out for long enough as it is.
