Outside of Jones it's clear that Cormier plays that role (what you see with Gus) to sell fights. It's no different what so ever to the likes of McGregor or Sonnen who created characters to sell fights. Jones stuff doesn't come off like he's doing it to sell fights what so ever, he just comes across as a bit of a dick. I don't think you can really criticise Cormier for saying he'd spit in Jones face either, he'd taken plenty of shit from Jones up to that point. I don't remember Cormier telling fans who they should and shouldn't like either, I think it was more him being annoyed and baffled at him being booed when Jones made his return from suspension. I wouldn't call Cormier a saint but I haven't seen anything to believe he's some massive asshole.

Jones talent isn't in question at all, I just can't find myself to root for him at all anymore. I'll never let that cloud my judgement on his talent and performances though.
Yep this.

Plus Jones' repeated DUI's, a hit and run, cocaine, now drag racing. The guys an utter dick who thinks he above the law and can do whatever he wants with no consequences. The apologies are never sincere either. If he was the average guy on the street, you wouldn't want anything to do with him.

I respect him as a fighter but on a personality level, Cormier is nowhere near the prat Jones is.

His lawyers will fight the drag racing claims but he could really be at risk of doing time now if it holds up as a probation violation. Rightfully so considering any average Joe in his shoes would never have got away with the hit and run in the first place.

UFC are in a tight spot here. If Bones is out the only fight available is Rumble... where to from that? The division will be finished, especially if DC wins. Can't keep rotating between Rumble and Gus now can they?

Rockhold has talked about moving up, but only for the title. DC being the champ, makes that a no go.

Conor McGregor would be the best option.

UFC 200 is turning out to be rather mediocre. Not that it's the end of the world, better spreading out the good fights and not have 200 take away from other events. UFC 198 is really stacked.

The UFC are getting ripped on twatter.

Welterweight Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor
Featherweight José Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar [a]
Heavyweight Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne
Welterweight Johny Hendricks vs. Kelvin Gastelum
Middleweight Gegard Mousasi vs. Derek Brunson
Lightweight Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon
Lightweight Takanori Gomi vs. Jim Miller

could have been worse though. At least 3 fights I'm pumped for.

Prelims and early prelims should be stacked with young talent i hope. Probably Northcutt, yair rodriguez or jake mathews in this shit?

God that's underwhelming.

McGregor's a maniac.

Lawler fight yet to be announced, wonder are they awaiting GSP...

Maybe so, the UFC bending over backwards for his every demand is pathetic though. An undeserved rematch headlining what they want to be their biggest PPV.
They're banking on McGregor winning it, if not it really tarnishes his reputation. They've backed themselves into a corner as well. If McGregor does win then why should Diaz not get an immediate rematch?

Diaz won't get an immediate rematch, or a rematch at all just like he wouldn't have had Conor beat him in the first fight. It's more likely that Conor gets another rematch and another and another until he beats Nate. It's laughable.

And why is there an interim on the Aldo vs. Edgar fight? Doesn't make sense as the champ is fine and dandy... wouldn't it be better just to label it a no.1 contender fight?

That card so far looks average and will need Lawler to save it.

How is that card underwhelming? Mcgregor v Diaz is guaranteed to be an entertaining fight, we have the return of Aldo and Velasquez, then we got Hendricks and Mousasi on the undercard. It's a very good card.

They need to add a women's title fight and maybe a GSP return novelty fight and it would be quite an epic card.

McGregor vs Diaz is just taking the piss. I hope Diaz KO's him and the UFC can stop giving in to his petty demands.

The prelims should be really strong, the main card is rather average so far. Not so much in star power but just because it has a ridiculous main event rematch that no one wants, and even Nate has said is stupid. Even more ridiculous that it is at 170 again, just so they can keep up the bullshit excuse and pretend Nate is a real welterweight. An interim title fight which is also ridiculous as the champ is healthy but just fecking about elsewhere. Cain vs Browne is okay but wouldn't look out of place on any other card. Plus there's always a risk he doesn't make it to the cage.

It will look a lot better if Robbie - GSP gets added although you'd think that would be main event. The other rumour is Robbie - RDA which would be a lot of fun but again risks putting a division on hold that has contenders ready.

Welterweight Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor - A rematch that I dont give a crap about. Seen all I needed to see the first time round.
Featherweight José Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar[a] - Interim title fight? Dont like that but should be a good fight.
Heavyweight Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne - Decent but not spectacular fight. Cain will probably pull out due to injury when they touch gloves.
Welterweight Johny Hendricks vs. Kelvin Gastelum - Not really impressed with either fighter lately. Will be more interesting if they fight over a cheeseburger.
Middleweight Gegard Mousasi vs. Derek Brunson - I like Gegard but he's not exactly one that excites.
Lightweight Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon - Will be FOTN. Great fight that one.
Lightweight Takanori Gomi vs. Jim Miller - meh.

All in all... an ok event. Nothing amazing. This could easily be UFC 198 or 199 or 201.

Well that's that then, can't see any more fights added unless the two lightweight fights at the bottom of the draw get relegated to Fox Sports.

Its all about money in the end - the UFC, McGregor, and Nate will all make a killing off of this. But yeah, I think the Conor circus is beginning to wear thin with more and more people and I hope Nate sends him back to 145 so he can face the winner of Aldo/Edgar.

So Rumble's ready if Bones can't make the DC fight? How funny would it be if Rumble actually stepped in for Bones' feck ups a second time... maybe it's him that's commiting all these crimes dressed up as Jones as he keeps profiting from them

Cant see him competing at 145 again. Another fight where he is getting adjusted to 170 again means he will really struggle to get back down.

I agree, it is very good. The problem may be the sky-high expectations UFC set for the big round number event. They initially talked about a Rousey-Holm rematch and planned a super duper stacked card.

I can't make sense of McGregor-Diaz 2, it's not really going to settle anything. I guess they just let McGregor do whatever he wants.

At least McGregor and Diaz will turn up and fight so that'll be a weight off the UFC's shoulders. Both will have full camps to prepare for a 170 fight aswell which will more than likely make things a bit different this time round. It should be a good tear up.

Fairly ridiculous to have an interim title fight when the current champion is fighting a pointless fight at another weight straight away after. It's the UFC's fault rather than McGregor's though.

The card is good but maybe a bit underwhelming because people have hyped it so much. There are so many good fights coming up that I don't particularly mind though. Plus the first fight in MSG might end up being a bigger marquee card anyway.
