Hopefully. That and hopefully the trend of Irish lads growing beards and wearing suits, to look like him, stops. That is/was beyond cringe.

Proud of Conor and what he has done. Look forward to his next fight. He's become more interesting now imo

Top McGreg

Hmmm, wonder why the UFC uploaded this.

Talks have broken down with GSP and Dana is pissed, is every bit just as likely as some sort of GSP/Conor comparison... Or maybe Matt Serra is making a comeback

They really do get behind Conor though. I wouldn't be surprised if Conor takes on Aldo instead of Frankie at 200 after his weekend showing. Kavangh has been pushing the idea of Aldo/McGregor next too.

Thing is you can make a case for either of those two to get the next title shot... maybe a triple threat match?

There is but i feel its unfair on Frankie, especially after Conor bounced up to LW without fighting him first or anyone else at FW. And after Conors last fight, Frankie will ask more question of Conor then Aldo would.

Meanwhile, I'd like to see Aldo go out and prove his chin again and shake of that KO. I don't think going straight back in with Conor after being knocked out in 13 seconds will bring out the best in Aldo and I don't think him or his camp are smart enough to get him over that knockout.

Conor only won the belt a few months ago! People talk like Frankie has been waiting for years for the damn thing

Watched the fight a few more times. Conor really miscalculated by attempting to knock him out in the first. Loads of wild punches that sapped his cardio and allowed Nate to use his superior cardio skills and reach to turn the tide midway through the 2nd. Short of his boxing, Conor did not have any other tools to deal with Nate, and when reach became an issue, Nate was simply able to avoid most of them. Conor has to work on adding a ground game and a bit of Jiu-Jitsu to his arsenal. Simply being a boxer will result in him getting found out by most decent fighters.

That's besides the point. Edgar was an obvious challenger after McGregor won. Aldo was out with a medical suspension and Conor was ready to go again. Edgar had a better claim to a FW title shot then Conor had to LW title shot. But instead McGregor moves straight up with out clearing out the FW division.

Now McGregors camp is pushing for a likely easier fight against Aldo who's head is all over the place. It's a joke and they'll likely get what they want.

Would Aldo really be easier than Edgar? I mean I think Edgar might be a problem for McGregor style-wise but Aldo is still Aldo.

Aldo is the fight most want to see. The first one is considered a one off similar to JdS v Cain 1. An angry Aldo obsessed with reclaiming his title v a just beated McGregor would be one hell of a fight and would be the marquee for UFC 200.

Aye, it's the bigger fight alright. Do feel a bit sorry for Edgar though having been promised his title shot after the Mendes fight.

What Im saying is Frankie hasnt been sitting in the sidelines for any length of time. No other champion would defend his title so quick after winning it so Frankie crying about being passed over is ridiculous. Impatiance is not the same thing.

He didn't just start waiting once Conor became champion though. You could definitely argue that he had already earned a title shot before he fought Mendes even. Beating Mendes and then actually getting a public promise from Dana definitely gives him reason to feel aggrieved imo.

Frankie Edgar has won his last 5 fights, beat Mendes in better fashion then Mcgregor and has never been KO'd. Also, McGregor has never faced him before whilst he spent a whole year on the Aldo story. Also also got KO'd past time they fought. Time for him to step down, recover and get Edgar fight this fight. Then if Mcgregor wins he can come back to him.

Not to mention the fact that Edgar's a former Lightweight champion too. He's done more to earn a title shot than most of the people who actually get them.

Edgar will likely get passed over for Aldo in McGregors next fight. That's potentially 7-8 months for Edgar to sit around and twiddle his thumbs

We can't say for certain but Aldo is likely fecking broken right now and needs to fight someone else.

In my mind, Aldo would struggle getting straight back in there with McGregor. Aldo and his camp look too much like a bunch of emotional feckwits for Aldo not to bring that in to the cage and get decked again. Which is why McGregor has a preference for it.

Looking back at the fight and I have to say Diaz is one tough bastard, he took a lot of big hits. I guess he's always been one to take punches though and is somewhat use to it.

Makes up for when Dana gave Edgar every opportunity (deserved or not) throughout his career. There was a period of time when he was eeeeverywhere..

It would still be 7/8 months if Conor fought RDA / Diaz or not. He cannot really argue if Aldo does get the rematch, It wouldn't that much of a controversy tbh.

That's actually ridiculous. Look at his head snap back.

A bit random but I just went to Sherdog to read the fight reaction and my God that place is a mess.
90% of threads are just answering each other or exactly the same fecking topic. One thread will have a McGregor weight excuse topic then another thread will pop up straight away saying "I can't believe people are making excuses about weight..." ANSWER HIM IN HIS FECKING THREAD THEN!!!

Maybe the Cafe can rent their mods out for a week to try and sort it.

Brilliant as usual....

12:30 onwards...

That was fecking awesome and makes me feel a bit bad. It shows that Nate isn't the dumb idiot most people thought he was... he might not be highly educated so yeah he is not the most knowledgeable guy but he is smart... I mean you have to be to do what these guys are saying he did. He's smart at what he does...

Also, they are slightly wrong about BJJ and weight classes... Shamrock had Kimbo in a choke but nothing happened

He did alright in the first round against Diaz on the ground, countered his takedown.

We haven't seen much of McGregors bjj skills because he prefers to stand up and knock people out. But i have seen interviews with Eddie Bravo and Ryan Hall where both say they were very impressed with his jiu jitsu skills. So he can't be that bad on the ground, he just needs to use it more instead of going in all guns blazing for a knock-out. Especially at the higher weights.

I spoke to Ryan Hall when I was in Vegas and asked him about his experience in Dublin, he was very complimentary of SBG and McGregor's BJJ.

He treats ground fights like BJJ fights and leaves himself open to getting hit whilst he performs his moves. Its something he definitely needs to work on if he wants to compete against the LW's again.

I feel he needs to realise, and he's smart enough to do that, is that he won't be able to walk down most LW's a rock them with his left like he does/did to every FW thus far.

He needs to pace himself, keep his hands up, and sure, better ground game will always help.
