The MMA thread

:lol::lol:

I hope Steven is having a laugh too. Can't believe the crazy road his life took since his hit movies.

ps. before all his creepiness became viral, he used to be a really good role model for some people. A schoolmate of mine back in the late nineties, bully target on his back, started doing Aikido because of Seagal... so yeah, i hope good old Casey Ryback is having a good time and taking things lightly.

Joe Benavidez is joining TJ up in Colorado and leaving Team Alpha Male. Wonder if he'll get the same ridiculous criticism TJ got. Some other guys are beginning to move away as well. They are in trouble with a lack of coaching and their win rate has been shit lately.

In other news the original 196 has been renamed to a fight night, so Conor vs Dos Anjos is being renamed to 196. 200 will still be the same date meaning they are going to be squeezing another PPV in May probably.

good way to save face then. Looking forward to some of the prelims fights as well (chilean diego rivas and Artem).

This weekend its super Sage time. :D

ps. agree about fighters leaving Alpha Male if they can't get proper training. They need to change the name of it at least and start from scrap building a proper fighting team. Or maybe just sell it to a group of coaches.

weigh-in for tomorrow going on right now...

edit. didn't knew Super Sage moved up to Welterweight for this fight... (within short notice)

gonna be a hard test for him, but his opponent is quite average so i hope he can make it 3-0. Probably with some submission.

Paul Daley just knocked his opponent out into the face plant position. It's a real shame he made that mistake in the UFC, he would be in some great fights otherwise. Still think about that war against Diaz, was immense.

randy brown next, the one discovered by Dana on his talent show

ps. good debut from Brown. managed a difficult opponent in decent fashion.

Been half watching the card so far. It's not been the best night of fights, the Ferreira - Mercier fight was decent.

Looking forward to this main card though, let's see what Sage can do against a bigger opponent.

Great prospect but very clearly a kid who isn't yet ready for the mens leagues. Wrong sort of opponent for him tonight. Easy to say he is a pussy or has no fighting spirit but he's a 19 year old kid with a big burly man on top of him beating him up. He's likely never experienced that before, people shouldn't be so harsh on him.

Don't think I've ever seen a fighter tap so easily

But you have to remember, he is still a kid at 19 years of age

He's been called poor on his back and looks it there.

Very dissappointing, all from a very odd overhead heel kick thing.

What a weak tap. Didn't look to have to much pressure on at all.

:lol: The forward roll! Fairplay to that man that was funny.
That was class. Seems a good character

Hadn't noticed him before tonight although I did see him beat Ellenbergers brother without really remembering

That really wasnt a major step up for Sage. albeit it was at a higher weight

This fight should be absolute fireworks.

Edit: Iuri was far too tentative. Rivera should get a comfortable decision.

I thought Sage had a comfortable first round and had the beating in the striking.

It'll probably do him good to be humbled in such a way. He literally took the fight to the one place he was guaranteed to lose it.

It would be one thing if he ended up on his back from a takedown but Barberena wasn't even shooting for them. Just came about from a daft heel kick thing.

The issue with Sage may very well be that because he is so rounded and competent is so many areas he'll always be inclined to try something mad. Went spectacularly poorly for him there in a fight he seemed to be controlling.

That's all true, but when he was on his back he looked truly terrified of the short elbows he was receiving and the tap was unbelievably fast

You can train as much as you like, but if you have no pain threshold or guts, you won't go far in this sport. I'm putting it down to youth....for now

It literally never looked like he was getting off his back save for the bell.

He is on a roll

He did the same to mitrione. Who you could hear scream in pain before tapping

I met Rothwell a good few times when they were in Dublin in October and he is a great guy too. Yay

Yeah but tapping Mitrione is one thing, tapping Barnett is out of this world crazy! Barnett has never lost by submission in his life and is Metamoris HW champ. Unbelievable feather in Big Ben's cap.

Cool that he appears to be a good guy, I hope he keeps it going.

No doubt, Barnett is surely a proper stepping stone to a title fight

We have Stipe, Overeem, Rothwell now all in there. I hope they don't wait for Cain. I think Werdum is very beatable and all 3 of those can beat him

Don't know what Bader was playing at there, he just let Rumble on his back straight away. He shot for a takedown and then just lay turtled up on the floor. Rumble is a scary dude though.

Rumble, what a beast. It's a shame he gave up against Cormier, he could easily be champ right now.

He is  His stand up is good, but his ground game is quite poor.

Maybe he needed this loss and it will serve him good. If I were in his position I'd take a year off to work on his ground game, then slowly start again.

Great guy but his standup looks so sloppy and slow, despite how powerful he is. I can't see him touching Cain or Werdum.
