Wouldnt surprise me if UFC tried to make Aldo fight knowing what was wrong with him and now will paint him in a bad light cos he had to pull out (Tbh, if hes injured, he shouldnt fight at all)
Exactly, It is all about the PPV numbers at the end of the day. The exact reason Mendes is fighting instead of Edgar, there is a bit of bad blood between him and Conor and it would draw more PPV buys than Edgar who is a relaxed non trash talking opponent.Wouldnt surprise me if UFC tried to make Aldo fight knowing what was wrong with him and now will paint him in a bad light cos he had to pull out (Tbh, if hes injured, he shouldnt fight at all)
Dana could've easily shifted this fight to UFC 190 and had Lawler headline 189. Trouble is, McGregor is their new cash cow with the likes of GSP, Lesnar, Jones, and Anderson Silva no longer in the mix. They basically need this to happen sooner rather than later and against someone. Aldo can always fight the winner at 191 or thereabouts.
It made the most sense, Aldo had already beaten Edgar, Mendes, Lamas, it was the most logical move especially with the hype train that McGregor was riding. It's karma for making the fight with McG against Aldo when the former didn't have a record to support a title shot.
As said above he was the next logical opponent for Aldo, nobody can deny that. If McGregor loses to Mendes the featherweight division becomes a lot less interesting, and won't be headlining fight week. It's karma for making the fight with McG against Aldo when the former didn't have a record to support a title shot.

Aldo had beaten Edgar, Mendes and Lamas already, the other top 5 guy was Max Holloway who McGregor had already defeated, McGregor has won 5 straight in the UFC, and was in the top 5, so why wouldn't he have deserved a title shot? You guys wanna support your arguments? I was gracious enough to give a reason for my view.
Not sure why anyone is moaning about this. Aldo hasn't lost in a decade and has the right to not fight if he's got a fractured fecking rib. If McGregor is all that, then he will fight Aldo next. If not, then he can work his way back up for a title fight in a year or so.
I agree, but feel even if McGregor loses then one more win and he will get a title shot just because Aldo will want to fight him that badly.
I still feel it will happen end of the year as I think McGregor will beat Mendes. It will probably be bigger than it would have been this time as well, as it would be a unification bout. That goes without saying. The UFC will want/need the fight to happen and the hype will just continue to build the anticipation to astronomical levels by the time they actually meet.
He'd still be one or two wins away from another title shot in my opinion.I think a lot of the hype would die down if Mcgregor loses. He'll still be a draw but probably not the absolute golden boy he is at the moment.

Anything's possible really because there's still an element of the unknown with McGregor in the UFC.Yes I don't doubt that I just mean that the aura he has developed through both talk and spectacular knockouts so far will be tarnished if he loses to Mendes. I think he might become more of a 'normal' fighter if that happens. On the other hand if he wins it will go up even further and the hype for the eventual fight with Aldo will be off the charts.

Would you rather have seen Aldo vs. Mendes for a third time over an Aldo vs. McGregor fight? Out of interest. To be fair, plenty of guys have gotten title shots without being the best option. Joe Soto probably didn't deserve his title shot, but someone has to be fed to the champ. So I accept that the second best fighter in a division isn't the only one who gets the title fight. However, I wouldn't say that means they 'deserve'it, necessarily.
I've greatly enjoyed McG's fights, I'm a big fan and it's nothing person. But who has he beaten? Porier and Siver? Good wins, but not the sort of wins I expect would earn most fighters a title fight. Holloway is a quality win too, but Holloway doesn't impress me much, he's been going through nobodies since he lost to McG save a good win for Cub Swanson, that's 2 years with one tough fight, not sure he's a top 5 fighter. Olivera would destroy him, nor was he top 5 when McG beat him two years ago. That's a long, long time for a young fighter who is developing.
Usually you get a gate keeper at this point McG is at, you get Mendes or Edgar or Lamas, which is I think the most appropriate fight for him.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think there's anything *wrong* with giving a popular fighter a bigger fight than maybe he has earned on paper, the UFC has never hidden the fact it's about entertainment first. If you want pure competition, watch a martial arts tournament, I get it.
The UFC produce some great promos.
In fairness it was a McGregor promo more than anything else, I'm sure there'll be a similar video for Mendes.I love how Mendes is barely mentioned in the promo of his own fight when he is rated higher than McGregor. The UFC will really be massively fecked if Conor loses.

The second Aldo vs. Mendes fight was brilliant, well worth re-watching.Honestly I don't remember the first two, though I'm pretty sure I saw them.
It was the most exciting fight to make, I'll agree with that. And Aldo has to fight someone, and the list of top guys he hasn't wasted is short.
What a load of shit. It's karma for making the fight with McG against Aldo when the former didn't have a record to support a title shot.
What a load of shit.
Like how Mendes beat Edgar, Cub, Lamas, Poirier, Korean Zombie on his way to a second title shot? Except...he didn't fight any of them. Highest ranked guy was Nik Lentz ffs.
Edgar got a title shot from coming off TWO losses to Benson Henderson.
Korean Zombie was only on a 3 fight win streak, highest ranked win against Poirier.
The gifted title shot thing is annoying, repeated so often, and it's bullshit.
He really is great marketing for the UFC, isn't he? Those names you mentioned while great fighters, could barely speak English. McGregor could sell a fight with his mouth alone.I hope for the sake of the UFC he wins. Otherwise they will struggle to recapture the sort of marketing power that Anderson Silva, GSP and that lot provided.

Shouldn't matter what device you use if you have a UFC.TV account and buy it. The fights are in HD, you can select whichever stream quality you want.If anyone knows would they mind telling me that if I register on the UFC.TV site on my laptop and then buy the fight will I then be able to watch the fight on the UFC.TV app on my TV after signing in or would I want to register and buy the fight through the app on the TV just to be on the safe side? Also will the fights be in HD as well?
I don't have BT Sport and don't really want to get it either as if I do it'll cost me over 40 euros for the 2 months it'll take me to get rid of them or unsubscribe from them again after Saturday night.
£13 I think, It is great value for me as we have BT internet in the household and get BT Sports free. How much is it to buy the ppv on the app? BT sport is pretty good value for mma fans as they show all the events bar fight pass cards.
