Anyone watching? Very surprised ebersole gave up there

Most fighters I think would have continued. We have seen them before going with one leg. Conor McGregor against max holloway only had one leg and just took it to the ground and dug the win out

Impressive from Ortega. He isn't even ranked in the top 63 featherweights and just knocked out the #29. Should move up quickly now.

He popped for steroids after his last fight which I think was his UFC debut. So that probably hasn't helped his rankings

Assuming he is clean now he looks a real contender

Rothwell has looked impressive each time I've seen him. Should probably move up to someone like Miocic or Arlovski next.

Wow. Might have been the most entertaining UFC event from top to bottom that I've seen in a while. Every fight on the main card was a knockout except for the Rothwell submission.

Crazy card.

Dan mutherfecking Henderson. He must be about 50 now.

Anyone see him and his wife in the ring after the fight? I bet their kids are named Walker and Texas Ranger.

I was amazed Rothwell landed that since it looked like he attempted it in slow motion. He's a wily underrated fighter though, a bit like Roy Nelson without the hair.

What a crazy card. I think the fights were less than half an hour combined, so many great early finishes.

On Ortega, he loses cool points for the drug pop, but he's a tremendously exciting fighter to watch, his offensive jitsu off his back is a thing of beauty. No real surprise though as teaching seminars along side Rener and Ryron Gracie is his day job.

Poirier looks beastly at 155. McGregor may have done him the biggest favour of his life by sending him packing from featherweight, he took that loss really hard and seems to really have had a rethink and looks a new man at lightweight. Maybe the loser of Melendez/Alvarez next for him? More fighters should seriously think about moving up to a more natural weight class rather than forcing a really draining cut on themselves. Some people can handle them but they're not going to work for everyone.

Finally, Dan Henderson is a lucky man, his wife is absolutely gorgeous.

I'm really looking forward to the main event this weekend. If there's one positive to take from Cain's injury woes it's that due to him making less appearances than Halley's comet, it feels like a bit of a special occasion when he does.

3 hours left for the early prelims

Main Card

Heavyweight Cain Velasquez (c) vs. Fabrício Werdum (ic)
Lightweight Gilbert Melendez vs. Eddie Alvarez
Middleweight Kelvin Gastelum vs. Nate Marquardt
Featherweight Yair Rodríguez vs. Charles Rosa
Women's Strawweight Tecia Torres vs. Angela Hill
Preliminary Card (FX)
Flyweight Chico Camus vs. Henry Cejudo
Lightweight Efrain Escudero vs. Drew Dober
Bantamweight Alejandro Pérez vs. Patrick Williams
Lightweight Francisco Trevino vs. Johnny Case
Preliminary Card (UFC Fight Pass)
Welterweight Augusto Montaño vs. Cathal Pendred
Featherweight Gabriel Benítez vs. Clay Collard

Whats your man like that is fighting Cathal Pendred?

Thinking of doing a treble of Pendred, Cain and Melendez. 4/1 odds...

risky bet imo... for sure he is the favourite, but he goes against a tough Mexican, in Mexico city (local support + altitude factors to consider?).

But mainly because Mexico's academies level is really high.

Cathal Pendred has awful stand-up, gets rocked easily (but is a battler), average grappling, sloth like speed and no creativity. How he's unbeaten in the UFC is amazing.

4-0 in the UFC

He hasn't looked great but that is fantastic and tonight he definitely deserved the win

This has been a bit of a snooze fest compared to last week's fight night. Is it too early to start discussing UFC 189? Couple great fights with Aldo vs McGregor and Lawler vs MacDonald. Might be the most anticipated card of the year.

except for the women's fight, the main card was pretty good.

Happy for Fabrice. Had zero faith on him surviving the first round. I'm glad he proved me wrong.

Werdum deserved that victory in every department. Think Joe Rogan was over egging some of the shots but there was no desputing that he managed the cleaner work and that was having the greater effect. Velazquez's head was getting rolled around his neck with almost every shot.

The only question left is - have we seen the best of Cain and will be forever try to get it back but become a faded fighter in future?

Missed the fight, watched the highlights. Looked like Cain was struggling with altitude, which seems a bit bizarre given his notoriously good cardio.
