The MMA thread

He will be fine physically. I'm not so sure he will be the same fighter mentally. His confidence won't be the same and I doubt he will throw leg kicks the same.
I'd assume if he fought Nick two years ago then leg kicks would be a massive part of the game plan, as he wouldn't need to worry about being taken down, and it would limit the movement of Diaz.

If he wasn't prepared to throw leg kicks I think he'd retire. You have to be a little crazy to fight, I don't think he'll be at all hesitant to throw the same kick that broke his leg.

I mean, getting hurt is always a possibility, more from what your opponent might do than freak-accidents. (Yes, Weidman meant to check the kick but it's not to be expected to break someone's leg with such a check.)

It was Anik.

Interested to see what happens over this. You can talk about the head push and then Cormier pushing him in the throat, but Jones can't be throwing punches like that. I wanted to see Cormier destroy him before, now I want it even more.

The interview between the two is now on ESPN.

Jones is an absolute joke, Cormier is spot on in saying how fake he is at times. Mind games IMO and Cormier needs to be smart enough not to let it effect him in a negative way.

Couldn't agree more. I love Cormier, more than is proper for a heterosexual adult male to love a fighter, but this has sent me over the edge into lunacy. I don't think I've ever wanted a fighter to win so badly as I do Cormier over Jones.

@PhilipB "his cousin is probably named Cleetus or something". I can barely breath here. I didn't initially like MacGregor's persona, but as its dawned on me that hes actually nuts I cant help but love him. He was taking selfies in the middle of the Cormier/Jones brawl when everyone else was freaking out

Jones is a bit full of himself isn't he? I started rooting for him but DC is so much more relax and genuine. He's definately winning me over.

Im a Jon Jones fan. I will be up for him. I do like DC though

But if Jones can go through DC and then Gus again that would be a hell of astatement

Zen warrior my ass, Jones is a fecking piece of shit as Rashad Evans said and we all know it takes a piece of shit to know a piece of shit. Come on Cormier!!!

The fights I'm looking most forward to are Diaz v Spider, Jones v DC and Dillashaw v Barao 2. In that order.

It's been a while since I've got this excited for fights. When is Cain defending his title again? Isn't it been a while since he last fought?

Cain against Werdum hopefully before xmas

Meh, he'll destroy Werdum.

Would like to see him fight Overeem once.
He would murder Overeem too

Cain's biggest threat would be DC. But they wont fight eachother hence why DC moved down in weight.

If Jones wins against DC and Gus, I can see him moving up to heavyweight to challenge Cain

Holy shit! DC and Jones going at it.....Jones continuing with the bad guy persona...shame.

Shame?! It's brilliant, Jones is at his best when he is in that persona imo. I actually like him when he is being a dick but I seem to be pretty much alone in that opinion
I don't know, it doesn't really suit him imo. Take Nick Diaz for example, it suits him more because you know he is a cnut, he doesn't just act like one. He is my favourite cnut though, with Diaz it's always polemic.

I do find myself chuckling a bit....he's damn good at it.

I think he (and DC) went a bit too far....it's good viewing but ridiculously stupid from a fighters standpoint.

That "fight" will only make them sell way more ppv's. I know Dana's always banging on about not putting the sport in a bad light, but I doubt he even cares that much as long as the money keeps coming in and the sport keeps gaining popularity.

True, it is good for the hype. I was thinking more along the lines of one of them picking up an injury, we can all laugh now, but if one of them had really hurt themselves we'd all be calling them idiots. Injury is enough of a concern as it is without taking dumb risks like this.
