Nuragwhatshisname is surely going to be champion sooner rather than later

Cant see Browne winning tonight, but I backed against him in his Overeem and Barnett fight too

This is brilliant by Werdum, Travis completely gassed

People already writing off Werdum against Cain but I'll never write the guy off. He's capable of pulling it off. Also, don't think this should effect Brown too much. Young guy with plenty of potential, just went five rounds and showed he can take a beating at times too. He'll be back bigger and better IMO.

Important win for Tate, very close fight but just did enough to take the win.

Werdum's striking was very impressive last night

Does anyone give Teixeira a chance against Jones?

I do. Jones could have quite easily lost against Gus and Belfort. Glover could knock him out. I don't think he will though, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Really? Guida has been stopped once in his career by TKO, he's a warrior when he get's going. McGregor returning from a layoff and taking on Guida would be a pretty big test for him that's for sure.

Barring Pettis, Clay has tended to lose against technically good strikers. If he fought Pettis tonight, I'd put my mortgage on Pettis.

I think McGregor could definitely knock him out. The problem for McGregor is that his wrestling simply cannot be up to it. I think he'd get beaten by most of the top level wrestlers at this stage.

Werdum could be a legit challenge for Cain.

Cains strength has always been aggressive tempo with either dirty boxing from the clinch or relentless takedowns. Werdum is extremely dangerous on the ground, and he has markedly improved MT over the past 6 or 7 years. MT guys *generally* prosper more in dirty clinch work than boxers do, which is Cains staple for striking.

I could see the fight honestly going just about any way you could imagine. Early KO from either guy. Cain wearing Werdum out. Werdum getting the better of a stand up battle and eeking out a decision. Cain via GnP, Werdum via sub. Both guys are dangerous, and Werdum has just about the right tools to present an actual challenge for Cain. Werdum HAS been known to shit the bed occasionally, so there is always that risk but if Werdum shows up at his best it could be a barn burner.

JDS is about as one dimensional as you can get, he's a heavy weight Chuck Liddel, and as such his striking can be brought down a notch when he has to fight first to not get taken down. Other than that first fight flash KO, I really do think Werdum presents a very interesting stylistic challenge for Cain as well as his biggest challenge to date and I look forward to this fight about as much as I have for any HW fight since Fedor was fighting.

Agree about Werdum, think it's really interesting. What you think about Glover vs Jon Jones? Glover too slow and reckless compared to Jones' smart fighting style? I really want Glover to win and he hits like a truck and has great jiu jitsu, but he's pretty slow and telegraphs a lot.

Really impressed with Werdum's striking, looked like a completely different fighter. That Cuban dude looked awesome aswell, where did he come from all of a sudden?

I would expect Jones to smash Glover. I could certainly be wrong but I think Glover is getting his shot as much because there isn't anyone else for Jon to fight outside of Gus and Cormier.

I'd expect Jon to pick him apart, keep him off balance and dump him on his head if needed with his tricky wrestling.

German featherweight Dennis Siver has been banned for 9 months following a positive test for steroids (hCG).

His defense for the failed test was that he had taken the drugs orally, rather than injections, and it had been unknowingly taken as part of a weight slimming effort, which was structured by a new trainer.

The commission rejected this reasoning and voted unanimously on the decision.

He's likely to be cut as a result.

The trick for maximum stench is not to shower before sparring.

Glover can knock anyone out, if he is to win it'll have to be within the first two rounds, after that I think he will gas.

I am hoping jones destroys him though

I'll be more surprised when a fight doesn't finish.

The last 2 fights didn't end but it was great to watch.

Anthony Johnson is a beast... Never saw him fight before (except in the movie "Warrior") and Wow... one to keep an eye on. He was just too good.

And Jones... feck. Only 26, not even on his prime, look class last night. Want to see him vs Cormier asap.

ps. Is possible that by the time Jones is at his physical peak in 4-5 years, he will have to step up to the Heavyweight division?

Jones legs (relative to the rest of him) look skinny so I have little doubt that he could bulk up to fight at hw, however to become a large hw would take a lot of time to add say 30lbs muscle mass (legally anyway)
