The MMA thread

Good event last night, great main event.

fecking awful news elsewhere though as Weidman needs knee surgery so the title fight with Machida has been put back to July 5th. No news on what fight will take it's place at 173. feck sake.

Main Card
TKO — Henderson def. Rua head punches
TKO — Dollaway def. Ferreira head punches
DECISION — Santos vs. Park draw
DECISION — Maldonado def. Villante unanimous
TKO — Jason def. Siler head punches

Prelims
TKO — Santos def. Markes body kick
SUBMISSION — Formiga def. Jorgensen rear naked
SUBMISSION — Robertson def. Perpetuo rear naked
DECISION — Stringer def, Barroso split
KO — Godofredo Pepe def. Lahat with flying double knee

The main event was better than anything in the prelims, but overall I thought the prelims were just as entertaining as the main card.

Great stuff.

Just finish watching this... great fun!

That flying Knee KO and Hendo comeback... wow.

Clay called out McGregor after the fight, saying the UFC is protecting it's "leprechaun". I'd like to see that happen, I think Conor's stand up would be far too much for Clay.

Clay wouldn't be able to finish him but he'd probably win on points if it went the distance. The key would obviously be if Conor could knock him out within 3 rounds. I'd back him personally. Guida is poor technically. It should suit McGregor to pick him off.

Why are some of these MMA/UFC fighters so 'fat'? That guy in the the gif is obviously fat, but there are others whom, by athlete's standards, are pretty chubby.

Really? Guida has been stopped once in his career by TKO, he's a warrior when he get's going. McGregor returning from a layoff and taking on Guida would be a pretty big test for him that's for sure.

Only heavy weights, the rest in particular middle weight and below are all very lean

Good event tonight.

I'm hoping for Werdum, as I think him v Cain would be a good fight. But Browne is on a hell of a run.

Cerrone vs Barbosa should be a bit good also a Couple of good prelims too.

Yep, solid card. Surprised Nurmagomedov vs Dos Anjos is on the prelims, should be a good fight.

No, never heard anything? The stream I found cut off before it showed you the next episode preview. What was it about?
Looks like a fight at the weigh in. But not sure, you can hear Dana saying it's never happened on TUF before.

Dana said that about a fighter getting through to the house without actually fighting, he said that in the first episode anyway, maybe he said it again though. Interesting to hear all the different pronunciations of Cathal!
