The MMA thread

I have no idea, made absolutely no sense. We all knew he was there so no need to keep showing it. If they showed him cheering or getting excited at moments during the fight then thats different but it was just him sitting there. I can't see a super fight happening to be honest, not sure how much GSP will feel up to it and same goes for Anderson Silva who I now just think wants to keep his record so won't put himself too out there.

Great fight. Props to both of them for leaving it all out there. A real war. Condit almost had him in the 3rd.

My God this Hendricks.

He's got a left hand like a sledgehammer.

What a main event. Great stuff.

Will feel sorry for Hendricks if he does not get a shot. I'm not sure I want to see any super fights between GSP and Silva or Silva and Jones.

I kind of like the legacy and unbeaten records. Why shouldn't they just keep going through contenders in their own weight?

Because its all about money and ratings got the company, people get bored of champions winning and winning and winning.

Exactly the reason everybody wants to see mayweather v pacquaio

Except, they are pretty much the same size.

Silva is much larger than GSP.

That kick by Condit on GSP was amazing, how did GSP stay awake?

Great main event. Hendrick's knockout was outstanding. Won a few bob as well. Had Hendrick to win in the first and GSP to win a decision.

feckin hell, Hendricks almost took his head off!

Let him fight GSP as soon as possible, one mistake against this guy and it's sleepy time.

Condit gave his best but GSP's ground game is just on another level. I think Nick Diaz would have given him a run for his money.

Pablo Garza impressed me aswell as Rafael Dos Anjos.

So, what's the next big fight then, Henderson vs Nate Diaz? That will be some fight, I can't wait!

What the hell was the point of the Anderson cam then? Bizarre.

Just to big up the hype. GSP is no match for Anderson though. Anderson is too technical + the reach advantage would make this a one sided fight. Anderson vs Jones on the other hand could be very, very interesting. I bet Anderson would even find an answer against him, the guy is just too good really.

Hendricks deserves his shot but I'd be surprised if he caught GSP with that left hand.

I know mma math doesn't always work but Hendricks fought a close battle with Koscheck who was absolutely tooled by GSP. I think Kos and Hendricks are very similar fighters. Strong wrestlers with a killer punch. GSP has a much more rounded skill set.

Do you ever watch the Gracie breakdowns? They're really good and talk you through what was happening on the ground in every little detail. They were mentioning how GSP was always a step ahead of Condit on the ground, it really is like a chess match.

Agreed. In fact, I would say Koschek is a more balanced fighter than Hendricks. Hendricks seems to either be able to throw bombs and leave himself defenseless vs the take down, or wrestle and then he isn't throwing bombs.

I haven't seen that yet, I'm not that much of an MMA freak, numbers.

Well that's random. Not Anderson or Hendricks but Diaz?

I wanna see that. Maybe not fair on Hendricks but feck it, I think that's a more interesting fight.

Yea me too, just found it a bit strange after all the talk about Anderson and Hendricks that it's actually Diaz who'll probably get the shot. Loads of people on sherdog going mental saying it devalues the belt etc but I bet the same posters bang on about how amazing Pride was despite them having quite a few "freakshow" match ups.

Nick Diaz is about to begin probably a long consecutive run of losses because once GSP bets him. the UFC will no longer have to shield him from the other wrestlers in the division.

Kos, Fitch, Ellenberger, Hendricks, among others all have the wrestling chops to make Diaz look like a 'b' level fighter.

Diaz is more than capable of submitting people off his back though. He'd be a dangerous fight for any of them.

Yep, this event is a bit gutting so far. Shogun put up a good fight at least. It wasn't pleasant seeing BJ get worked over like that. MacDonald is very good but I really hope Condit stomps him again. That faggotty faux-Ali shuffle he was pulling really pissed me off.

Yep, that shuffle proper pissed me off. He was impressive though, even it wasn't BJ at his best.

Gustafsson for some reason still looks raw to me, good but raw. He's clearly got huge potential but if he fights Jones then that won't even be close except for the first minute of the first round. Think he should wait for the fight but obviously the won't.

Well they won't be fighting until probably some time next autumn so in that respect Gustafsson has a lot of time to prepare. I just don't see him beating him though.

Yeah it'll certainly be a while away and is time to prepare just for just Jones whilst slightly improving as a better all rounder. I don't see him winning either but he seems to be fairly unpredictable and has good power. It would surprise me to see him win though. Though Jones losing to almost anyone is surprising anyway.
