This about sums it up...

Was pretty much the worst fight of the night. Silva didn't break a sweat

Far too easy for him. I reckon he could have finished him within one min if he was arsed

This Glover vs Maldonado fight is really hard to watch. It should have been stopped in the first round even though Maldonado nearly KO'd Glover at the end of round one. Maldonado took some serious damage there.

It was crazy. He was on wobbly legs for majority of the fight

Loved the embrace between Teixeira and Maldonado at the end of the fight. Glover could just not believe how Maldonaldo was still standing. He literally threw everything at him, how on earth he didnt get knocked out i dont know...

You could see how proud Glover was at the end saying he was the toughest S.O.B he ever fought

Classy from Silva as usual, Bonner never really had a chance. When Anderson just stood there and took a few punches without flinching, you knew he was never going to hurt him at all. 1 Well timed/placed knee was enough.

Just shows how advanced he is to everybody else, this guy had never been knocked out or submitted, Anderson does it in 1 round.

Anybody fancy a Silva / Jones fight? dont think they would want it personally. Would be another Pacquaio Mayweather showdown.

The asked Silva about that in the post fight press conferwncw after the second Sonnen fight. He looked more scared and uncomfortable than ive ever seen him IN the ring.

I would love to see Anderson vs Jones. Dana said yesterday something along the lines of he'll offer Anderson so much money that he won't refuse. I don't think Anderson wants any part of a JBJ fight though so feck knows if it will ever happen.

Apparently Rampage has called out Teixeira over twitter.

http://www.news.com.au/sport/boxing...-glover-teixeira/story-fndkzthy-1226496297991

Now that's a fight I'd like to see. Rampage better train properly for it though or he'll be in for a rude awakening. This guy is no joke.

Silva looked great again but that fight was a total non starter. It's quite obvious he wants to fight GSP rather than Jones but the fans (and the UFC brass) would rather see the latter.

What's left for him at middleweight now though? Weidman? Bisping? Belcher?

I think a fight with Jones makes much more sense. It'd be huge and it's quite clear that Jones is also running short of challengers too. Who's he got left? Henderson and possibly Teixeira if he wins a few more.

GSP has been out over a year and he' still got to get his title back from Condit. He's also got some decent young challengers in McDonald and Ellenburger as well as an ever improving Martin Kampmann plus the 'grudge' match with Nick Diaz which surely has to happen at some point.

Isnt Jones a big lightweight?

The size advantage might be too much for Anderson to accept the fight. He is 37 now, I think I understand it.

Jones would win the fight.

Yep but so were Bonnar and Griffin tbh although they're leagues apart in terms of skill sets. It's awkward because likewise Anderson is a big middlweight so I can see why GSP would be reluctant to take that.

I just think there's way more depth in the welterweight division than there is in the other two.

Silvas strength in moving up to LHW is his speed which would not be as big as an advantage against Jones. If I had to guess I'd say that Jones would most likely get it to the ground and finish it.

Silva GSP is a stupid fight. Honestly I think the only people who want to see it, are people who hate GSP.

I personally don't think Silva is as good as the UFC hype train, the middle-weight division, and journeyman LHW's make him look(Forrest despite holding the title IS maybe just one notch up from a journeyman). However, I also think that 205 is the only division where we see the best from Silva. It is difficult to judge just how good someone is, when their division is a wasteland. Silva would be better served imho going to 205 and challenging himself against the elite guys there, rather than calling out someone smaller than himself.

He stopped Bonnar who has never been knocked out. Impressive. He looked fantastic and I think it easily one of his top 3 UFC performances. I want to see more of Silva like he was vs Bonnar, and less like he is versus Maia, Cote and virtually every other MW.

I think the ultimate reason Silva is reluctant to go to LHW, is because he knows the top 3 or 4 guys there would almost certainly beat him, and Jones would elbow a hole in his head.

I don't want to appear like a Silva hater, I am not, I just want to see him challenged because I want to see the absolute best Anderson Silva. Not the disinterested, overly huggy guy we see in almost all his 185 fights :(

He has already beaten Henderson who is No.2

So Sonnen moves up to LHW and gets an immediate title shot vs Jones. :wenger:

I always used to hear Dana White slag off the BS matchmaking in boxing (a sport that I love) and he had a point. I was most disappointed then to catch a UFC promotion where Anderson Silva was fighting a fellow named Chael Sonnen in a rematch, after beating him the first time round and after Sonnen subsequently failed a drug test. Needless to say, in the rematch, a clean Sonnen didn't look like he had any business in the ring with Silva.

White should practice what he preaches.

Strange...if any fight deserved a rematch it was that one, failed drug test or not. Sonnen was the first person in years to make Anderson look beatable even if Anderson did have a dodgy rib.

I agree with you however that White should practice what he preaches but at the end of the day he's a promoter and out to make money. He does annoy me though.

Sonnen won the first round of the rematch, he definitely deserved to be in the ring with Silva. His missed elbow completely fecked him up, was a very close fight up to that mistake.

Exactly, what the hell was the ref waiting for? It's not because the guy has a great chin that he should let him get demolished like that. The guy had trouble standing up for the whole fight after that beating, it's fecking ridiculous.

Silva was amazing aswell, too bad he won't fight Jones, that would have been very interesting to see. I wouldn't mind seeing him against GSP, Condit or Nick Diaz(:() either, but Jones with his reach would have been a real threat for Anderson I think.

This is a quote from an interview he did today in Brazil

"People are talking so much about this... I don't have intentions of fighting Jones, there's nothing driving me to it, since there are other athletes in my team, like Rogerio, Maldonado, Feijão, that fight in his weight. My weight is 185, that's my title. But people talk so much, and in the end we are UFC employees. Sure, I can say I don't want to fight him, but what if he accepts the money Dana offers him to persuade him into fighting? It will be hard for me not to take the fight. It's not the money that motivates me to fight, I do it because I like it. So I don't know... I wouldn't like to do it. But, if it is to happen, it would have to be on catchweight. Not putting his belt on the line. I already have my own, and I don't want to hold a title to just leave it there."
So he would fight him but only at a catchweight, probably 195 you'd imagine. It's bullshit though because a) Anderson has fought at 205 before and b) I don't know if Jones could even make 195. It'd be a very tough weight cut if he could.

Nah, I don't think it's ever going to happen unfortunately.

Any news on Overeem by the way? Would love to see him fight JDS for the heavyweight title.

Nope he's still suspended until at least January as far as I remember. I just hope JDS beats Cain so we can finally see Overeem vs JDS. Was so pissed off the first time when it got cancelled and JDS is one of my favourite fighters in the UFC.

Are they fighting again so soon?! Didn't know this, JDS better be on his guard because I imagine Cain will be fired up seeing how he destroyed Bigfoot.

Looking forward to the Condit vs GSP fight next month, hope the fight won't be a snoozefest but I wouldn't rule it out. Too bad it isn't Nick Diaz facing GSP, that would have been fireworks.

UFC 155 in December. It's a great card as well.

Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez

Forrest Griffin vs Phil Davis

Chris Weidman vs Tim Boetsch

Gray Maynard vs Joe Lauzon

Alan Belcher vs Yushin Okami

Totally disagree

No doper should ever be rewarded for their transgressions. How do you propose that sport deals with its drug problem when dopers are immediately rewarded for their crimes?

White had, for years, painted UFC as the credible alternative to the murky world of boxing. For me, that rematch was a blow to the credibility and integrity of MMA.

It's sport but it's also entertainment. Everyone wanted to see that fight (Well, 99% of people) and didn't care about Sonnen taking TRT. Of course that rematch was always going to happen. Chael wasn't immediately rewarded for his crimes either, he was suspended and then went on to fight two fights against Stann and Bisping to get that rematch so that isn't true.

Personally I hate the fact that people are doping but what can you do? The athletic commission need stricter testing and the UFC needs to be involved in this as well but I doubt they'll do anything about it. All they care about is profit and if that means more fighter suspensions then they'll never do it.

He has already beaten Henderson who is No.2

First, Henderson has always been better at 205 than at 185 which is where that fight occurred.

Second, I think the only way Henderson is #2, is if you are eliminating guys who have already lost to Jones.

I would take Machida over Henderson, I would also take Rashad over Henderson. At 205, I strongly believe they would both defeat Silva in addition to Jones. Where Shogun lies in the mix is irrelevant because I don't think he would beat Anderson Silva.

As to Hendo's chances versus Silva at 205, difficult to say. Henderson who wrestles is a different animal than Henderson who stands and wangs, which is what we saw him do after a successful first round versus Silva in which he actually wrestled.

Bonner and Herman both failed their drug tests. Last week it was revealed jake shields failed one too.

I've really gotten into this sport over the last 3 years but I must say this is a major turn off for me.

Bonnar got bitch slapped by Silva despite being on steroids

Holy shit that was a KO.

Rest of the card was a bit dull though, although Kim impressed me a lot.

I always get Paulo Thiago, Thiago Silva and Thiago Alves mixed up. If they can get a fighter in called Paulo Alves then my mind would explode.

Yeah, really looking forward to it. Against my better judgement in a way, as its been a long time since I've really enjoyed watching GSP fight. I do love watching Condit though, and, especially with GSP coming off a serious injury, he's got a chance of making it competitive. Kampmann vs Hendricks could be a great fight on the undercard. Hendricks has serious power and Kampmann is such an underrated and technical fighter.

Just seen that Carwin's had to pull out of the Roy Nelson fight with another injury. His career has to be in serious jeopardy now. The guy is just riddled with injuries. A shame as he was a hugely entertaining heavyweight and seems a good guy, questionable supplement-taking notwithstanding.

Just seen that Alistair Overeem is scheduled to fight Bigfoot Silva at UFC 156 along with Aldo vs Edgar. Brilliant event in prospect as long as the injury curse doesn't ruin it.

Can't wait for GSP vs Condit and Kampmann vs Hendricks!

UFC 156 looks sweet:

Aldo vs Edgar - Not sure who I want to win in this one. Aldo is one of my favourite fighters but I really like Edgar as well, the guy has an iron will and eats punishment. Still think he beat Bendo in that last fight as well.

Henderson vs Machida - Always fun to see both these fight. Personally, I think Machida takes this one by fighting on the outside and being too quick for Dan.

Overeem vs Bigfoot - Overeem by roid rage.

Better not be any injuries or I'll cry. I went mental when JDS vs Overeem got called off because that wanker pissed hot so I hate him now.

feck! Forgot that Henderson-Machida is slated for UFC 156 as well. I love Dan Henderson, love him with every fiber of my being. Looks like a terrible style match up for him though. What a card, as long as injuries or suspensions don't feck it all up.

Superbowl weekend so they're making it a big one!

Also meant to have,

Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Urijah Faber vs. TBD

Strongest card in fecking ages. Can't wait.

fecking hell, some great fights coming up, good times. Isn't Nate Diaz fighting for the title soon aswell? Shame Nick doesn't fight anymore, was one of my favourite fighters, hope he decides to get back in the cage one day.
