The MMA thread

Bad judging or not, the whining in this interview is pathetic...

"Boo hoo give me my belt!"

"Your legs were destroyed in the first rounds...."

"I'm best, give me my belt..."

What's going on with the judging recently?
I watched the main card and I had Paddy losing 29-28 ( I thought it was clear that he dropped 2 rounds) and then Ank clearly won the title there. Jan looked embarrassed after the fight to have gotten a draw.

A snake move.

He's getting the early McGregor treatment, and people are falling for his "cheeky" personality like they did with Conor (me included) but his recent antics irked me. Have a feeling he's a bit of a scumbag, not unlike McGregor.
He definitely has scimbag vibes. I want him to get humbled.

He has the fraction of talent McGregor had. I can’t see how any of this is worth it

If you’ve seen his tweets about immigrants etc. then you will see he is a scumbag, yeah.

I thought Gordon edged the win. It was very close.

All 3 rounds is a farce.

It isn’t, and it’ll come crashing down when Dana dares put him in with anyone with any decent ability. It’s just because he’s a gobshite with a gimmick….if it were about being British Arnold Allen has about 20x the talent

It was a total farce. Another example of a Dana supported gobshite being privileged over the less marketable fighter. The judging was really horrendous last night. Its almost getting to the point where one wonders whether its worth continuing to watch the fights.

I feel the same. It was a shambles.

Disgraceful judging last night.

Dana is putting all his eggs in the wrong basket this time. Paddy isn't an elite fighter. He was exposed last night. There will be no saving him in the next fight. It's genuinely embarrassing the way he acts.

McGregor was an elite fighter and the best 'trash talker' MMA has ever seen. The entertainment value was off the charts. There is literally no comparison.

He must realise how bad it looks
His reaction is like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar with crumbs all round his mouth

Why they're trying to push this Pimblett prick as if he's going to be Mcgregor mk2 is an absolute joke. Just look at that interview above - he has zero charisma and is a disgusting person.

He will never be big like he thinks he is.

No I don’t get it either….just desperation for another Conor I guess. Not that PP is anywhere near, just Dana sees what he wants to see

As genuinely horrible as McGregor is these days, back then he had a swagger and the charisma of a great heel in wrestling.

Pimblett doesn't have a fraction of that.

To be fair, barely anyone does. They all become budget McGregor.

The biggest and most obvious difference between Pimblett and McGregor is that the latter was a genuinely elite fighter. Paddy gets schooled by the vast majority of ranked fighters in every weight class he can make imo.

Conor was actually funny too, even if a cock. “Who the feck is that guy” is probably the greatest non-Chael line I can remember

Paddy was discussed before in here. He's an absolute cash cow for the UFC in England and selling out the biggest venues they can get their hands on. Don't know if he's a PPV banker too, but he's worth a hell of a lot to the organisation as a gimme cash grab.

He badly needs to get some boxing and kickboxing coaches of repute in. My position on him was stated the first time I saw him, about that sky high chin and it's absolutely obvious he's going to get knocked clean out if he doesn't fix those habits of his.

Dana can't even 'Pereira' him as, whilst the Brazilian is terrible against wrestlers and on the ground, he is undoubtedly one of, if not the best striker in the UFC. Paddy has no such advantage so pitting him against rounded fighters or specialists in the top 10 is wrought with danger.

One thing I'd say is for sure is a bad match up is going to lead to a really iconic knockout as things stand. Worse than how Sage Northcutt's hype train derailed and crashed into a flaming pit.

Some interesting things in here.
Had never heard of him before.

I thought Paddy lost, but it was probably closer than some are making out in the media. You leave the fights to the judges you run the risk of losing to a bad decision. You knew going into that fight any close call was going to go Paddy's way. In hindsight Gordon really should have stepped up in 3rd, Paddy was carrying an injury, and he was let off. That's the difference though between fighting decent fighters and top level, Paddy got away with it in this fight, a genuine top ranked fighter would have punished him. The way Paddy leaves his chin exposed is very naive as are his weight cuts. Been a bad week for him with this fight and the Helwani incident.

Paddy's chin in the air is becoming a meme and I think a lot more people believe it's a matter of when not if to when he gets absolutely sparked, unless he gets some coaches in to correct that.

So... people are going to watch a disabled guy get kicked in the face?
