The MMA thread

The feck? Just found out that Diaz vs GSP is off. Apparently Condit has replaced Diaz due to him no showing 2 press events in a row. Dana White says he's probably gonna drop him too.

FFS Nick....

Yeah, just seen that.

Condit vs GSP then.

I think I actually prefer those match ups. Diaz v Penn could be a classic.

The question is what happens if Diaz wins dominantly. Will White put the GSP and Diaz fight back on for a later card, or has he blown his chances already

Has there ever been less hype around an event for the fight night tonight? Ellenberger vs Shields is actually a pretty interesting fight, if Shields is still having problems with his weight then Ellenberger can definitely give him some problems. Banking on Evan Dunham to return to form aswell, that guy is a monster

Just seen that Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson has been added to UFC 139. What a great few weeks of MMA thats going to be.

Nov 5th: UFC 138 - headlined by Munoz vs Leben. Not a great card but still some interesting fights.

Nov 12th: Velasquez vs Dos Santos

Nov 19th: UFC 139 - Shogun vs Hendo and Belfort vs Cung Le.

The dude who won looks pretty good. Nice array of submissions. seemed a bit obssessed with the leg locks and kept slapping them on immediately. Should have been improving his position more often. 2nd dude didn't have very good JJ, kept getting stuck in sub attempts. Was countered at every turn. I'd say a bit of Judo would be very helpful for both

So many cards changing recently, its crazy. They announce them waaay too early these days.

Some cracking fights on the opening episodes of this seasons TUF.

Knockouts/stoppages galore.

The smaller guys really know how to bring it.

Maybe they'll get kids on for next season to spice it up a bit. ;)

Anyone watching the UFC tonight?

I have to go pick someone up at the airport tomorrow early, so dunno whether or not to just stay up and watch the UFC and then go after.

Either way I am looking forward to Hughes - Koscheck.

I'll be watching. I hope Hughes can pull off the upset but Koscheck is an awful match-up for him on paper. Hughes looks to have lost quite a bit of muscle mass over the years too. Diego Sanchez would have been a much more winnable fight for him imo.

The talk of Hughes retiring can't have been good for him. Anyone at that age would begin to struggle, and he's not a fighter to rely on his talent. His thing has been his strength and with that his wrestling. But I believe Koscheck can beat him everywhere.

feck. That was depressing. Reminded me of Liddell-Franklin. Hughes looked far better than I expected him to initially just like Liddell did that night, but then came the brutal ending. Hughes has stopped short of outright retiring too. If he does fight again for his own sake I hope its just on the lower end of cards against grapplers with weak stand up.

That was phenomenal from Jones. I'm pretty much lost for words to describe that performance.

The Bader win already answered alot of questions about his ability to deal with high-level wrestlers but Rashad's speed and the genuine personal acrimony between them makes that another interesting test for Jones. He'll rightly be the overwhelming favourite though. Beyond Evans there's only really Machida that looks stylistically like he's got anything fresh to threaten Jones.

I am amazed that chicken legs Jones can keep kicking people in the legs like that. I thought Rampage will do damage to him, but he was too elusive for QRJ. On Jones, I don't know if it has to do with his reach or what but people just cant get close to him.
