The MMA thread

just this instant from danas twitter

"Penn Comm Greg Sirb and I will be on Versus pre show before fights start live to discuss the Marquart situation. Pre show starts in 5 mins"

But i reckon you're right in the sense that he'll still not give away the whole story, but hopefully a bit of light will be shed, its a bizarre one..

Dana on Versus on Marquardt: " I'm disgusted with him. He will never fight in the UFC again. ...He needs to man up and tell everyone why he didn't pass his physical." ..."for me say he is not going to fight in the UFC anymore it's got to be serious"

Dana can't say the reason due to privacy laws in PA

"clearly nate did something very wrong for me to fire him. He didnt pass his medicals, the fans know what that means"

More quotes:

Nate Marquardt's gonna have to man up and come out and tell the world why he didn't pass his medicals. When he does that I think everybody is going to understand why he was cut from the UFC.

I think it's pretty clear to the fans and everybody else that I'm pretty disgusted with Nate Marquardt. He's been cut from the UFC, he won't fight in the UFC ever again. Bottom line is, what Nate Marquardt's thing is, it's bad enough to be cut from the UFC.

So what are the possible reasons that one would not get medical clearance? Injury that was covered up until last minute? Weight cut gone wrong?

People are speculating all sorts, HIV etc but I can't believe White would act that way if it were so.

Unbelievable comeback by Kongo. I was sure Barry had knocked him out cold at one point, and the ref was milli-seconds away from stopping it.

That was mental.

Watching the replays, though, I'm not sure Kongo was as rattled as it first looked. He more or less instantly recovered from the knock-down - which was only a glancing blow - and only looked to be badly hurt because he was so clumsy getting back to his feet.

The excitement of the commentator's was so contagious that it all seemed a bit more dramatic than it actually was. Gorgeous uppercut to finish it though.

Seems like the first punch got him in the ear, probably knocked his balance off so he fell. Then Pat Barry swarmed on him in a Carwinesque manner, throwing everything but not really connecting with an accurate bomb. Kongo got to his feet and as he took a step back he ate another shot with his foot off the floor so his balance went again. Kongo picked his shots well

Brilliant finish to the Kongo fight. And he desperately needed that win too.

Saturday shoud be good too. Starts with Haye V Klit followed by UFC 132

That burndogg fella put me wide to it. Basically just like the UFC's facebook page and a perfect stream will just appear. Between that and the main event there was about 5 hours straight UFC

That was a good nights UFC :) I usually don't bother with prelims but slowly changing my mind

He's actually going to go through with a fight?

To be fair to him, he pulled out of the Lil' Nogueira fight, which was much better stylistically for him, then he accepts the Ryan Bader fight, which on paper is a bit of a nightmare match up for him. His last few opponents are no chumps, Hamill, Griffin (which I thought he won), Machida, Rashad (had he not gotten the point taken away, he would have won). He's had rotten luck.

Karma's a bitch

I was just thinking that the ufc hype machine around bader was a bit too much. His wrestling isn't too incredible, and his biggest win was a sloppy one against nogueira. Plus I'm unashamedly a Tito Ortiz fanboy.

Wow. Leben beats Silva in like 15 seconds

Edit: OK 27 seconds
