The purpose of drafting is to work within the framework of snake or sheep or auction or whatever it is. If we allow free exchange of players, then it'll just lead to all teams being near perfect. For example, you may have bid a lot for Batigol only to realize down the line a different sort of striker fits your formation better. A free exchange eliminates penalties for incorrect drafting.

But then again I'm not saying I'm vehemently against it to begin with - only that there are problems with it. And that it's Ed's draft - he can't take all sorts of ideas into consideration in the middle of the thing. And let's be honest - this is something people will be in favour of if they feel they can profit from it, they won't be in favour on general principle.

The trade may improve squads of 2 managers. If any of the other managers are unable to find similar trades, they would not be happy if 2 potential opponents get to improve their sides. All or nothing. So nothing.

To be fair I proposed it after I saw Edgar's offer to buy back some of the players I thought that was going to be fun. I don't think I'd have participated to be perfectly honest, not because my squad is perfect, but because I'm happy with my picks and have a specific idea how my formation and tactics would work.

Exactly - or rather, we could have considered something like this, but it would have made it a different draft: What Ed says above is the key point - swaps and trades can only contribute to make building super teams easier. So, one has to factor that in - do we really want that? Maybe - but it's a big factor, and not something you want to implement at the tail end of the drafting part itself.
