The latest report from stretford paddock say its costing about £17 million to sack him.

Nice work if you can get it.
They're just assuming we have to pay out the entire contract, which usually isn't the case with severance agreements

He has a better win ratio than Moyes, Van Gaal and Ole.
Also a worse loss ratio than Ole and LVG.

Points per game are the way to judge, where the West Ham result dropped him into 3rd:

Mourinho: 1.97
Ole: 1.845
ETH: 1.843
LVG: 1.81
Moyes: 1.73

In saying that, the cups are doing a lot of heavy lifting for ETH. If we limit it to just the PL then he drops to the bottom of the pile.

Mouinrho: 1.89
Ole: 1.80
LVG: 1.78
Moyes: 1.72
ETH: 1.71

About time. Ruud will bring back the feel good factor at the club. Expecting a new manager bounce and quickly, similar to Ole.

Fans need to stop seeing legends at the club as a bad thing and step into 2024. That's only online anyway - the atmosphere was rocking in Ole's early days.

Results business meant he had to go a shame it didn't work out as he brought a bit of hope when appointed.

Thanks to Ten Hag for winning the league cup and FA Cup, first trophies won by the club since 2017.

Shame it didn't work out. Really wanted him to be the guy but it was clear last season it wasn't going to happen. It was more a case of hope than anything on the pitch showing progress. Probably could have done with it after Tottenham.

Let's hope the next guy gets a tune out of this squad, playing exciting football. Sick of the shit we've served up for the last 2 years.

One of the things that Ten Hag was missing in order to manage a successful United team was charisma. He might be an honest and good person, but I don't see any of our players in any of their interviews saying that they would run through a brick wall for him. I'm not implying that they downed tools on him, it's just that feeling that he is not a good communicator with the team, and often used the wrong words, like when he said that he substituted Casemiro for footballing reasons, when in fact he wanted to say technical reasons, and this plays into people's motivation. He is too calm, not fiery enough, and just seems too collected. I see Pep, Arteta, and Klopp jumping all over the line, and he simply stands there, like an owl on a rain. It never oozed confidence that. I never liked some of the statements he made during the last 2-3 weeks, like not getting beat by Porto and Fenerbache was some kind of success. Small-minded mentally. Best of luck to him.

He’s the manager who is the most confusing as to why it didn’t make sense on paper. It seemed like the one that made the most sense.

Moyes - nuff said
LVG - at the end of his career
Jose - incendiary wherever he goes
Ole - not top team quality
Ten Hag - played expansive great football for Ajax, performed above expectations in Europe and then comes to us and throws his style out the window

What are some of our best games under him? I really struggle to recollect that many. Maybe the Barcelona ties, or maybe this years FA Cup final.
Always sad to have to let a manger go though. I still think he was the right appointment (not knowing what we know now).

Well it was inevitable he was going after yesterday. Garnacho, Dalot , Bruno along with coot and Oliver delivered the final blow.
RVN in charge will get the same stick as ETH even before he's taken charge of a match.

Another manager merry-go-round who coming In etc etc..all the frcking clown pundits and ex pros putting there tuppence worth in on who the best guy is, most or all never managed a game or club in there life, but somehow we're expecting to listen to there bollox.

Whoever comes in bring a tin hat and a viking Shield because there going to get it from all of the above before he's had his training kit with his initials on it, and I'm hoping it's not GS..

Had to happen. Took too long to happen. I think keeping him after the FA cup win was correct, but should have gone after Spurs.

Now really need to get rid of Bruno and Rashford otherwise the next manager will have the same problems. Can’t have two c list players given the importance of prime Messi & Ronaldo when more often then not they are a hindrance.

The first 6 months of his tenure have completely bamboozled this fanbase. We have been an awful football team since the Carabao Cup.

Aside from being a terrible manager, I found him arrogant and difficult to emphasise with

It's about time. Only one other manager since SAF was worse than ETH and that was Rangnik. I'm never seen a manager at United with so much

- bias towards players
- stubborness
- lacking tactical awareness during matches
- poor substituting

Bye, bye

What will happen to players like Onana? Who were bought in to suit Ten Hag's "playing style".
Onana is a modern keeper who will suit the vast majority of managers who we bring in. As long as his form keeps up, he probably has the least question marks over him out of all the ETH players.

Martinez is the biggest question mark with his physical limitations. De Ligt's lack of pace might be an issue in the longer-term for some managers, but other managers won't mind (as long as he's partnered with a faster player). Ugarte's lack of ball-playing ability might be an issue depending on the playing style we want to move to. Hojlund and Zirkzee will be interesting, as unless they really kick on this season it seems quite likely that the new manager will only want to keep one of them as a backup to a more established striker.

Nothing screams out of your depth more than just buying all your old players, probably knowing full well half decent Ajax players aren’t good enough for United.

Why do fans talk about managerial sackings and media pressure as if we're the only club that applies to?

The timing of this has pissed me off. Why didn't we do this after the Spurs abomination? INEOS reactive instead of proactive like their predecessors.

He really isn't. His record at club level is atrocious and his "success" at England was in spite of him not because of him. He bottled the Euros in 2021. It was on a plate against a poor Italian team by Italian standards and he bottled it. Pulled a Homer too this year as well. Was minutes from Slovakia knocking them out and then went all the way to penalties against Switzerland
I know about all that. But he is still better than Ten Hag. But like i said I absolutely don't want him anywhere near out club.

One more thing

- poor decision making for transfers. Good Holland league players are rarely good PL players.

Yes, he is gone but does it have to take this long? A bunch of brainless management people. I hope they hire someone who is good enough.

They're just assuming we have to pay out the entire contract, which usually isn't the case with severance agreements
Agreed. It's a clickbait headline number.

Firstly, if we have to pay it all, then it will be over two seasons, and Secondly, Ten Hag will probably take another coaching role during that time, offsetting some of the £17m.

I desperately wanted him to succeed, but it's been awful for the most part hasn't it? The first season up to the Carabao Cup and FA cup final are the two bits that were anywhere on par, other than that it's been as bad as its been.

This doesn’t feel like a moment of celebration for me. I voted sack, his time was up, but this is just a sad reality of another promising coach struggling under the weight of the job. Anyway, history will look favourably at the trophies won so thanks for that Erik. Hope he goes on to be a success elsewhere. Now the big question remains, who the hell do we appoint. Nothing particularly exciting.
