Suarez

Yeah training with the reserves by all accounts.

I'd love to know what Dalglish thinks of the whole thing. I wonder if he still has his tshirt.

However, your manager, & an awful lot of other Arsenal supporters, are pretty desperate to see him wearing the famous Arsenal shirt. This despite the massive toxic warning that glows like a beacon from this guy. We've received a lot of flak for sticking by Suarez. At least we have some benefit of doubt on our side insofar that we felt a move to a big club, & playing in one of the biggest leagues in the world, would curb his tendencies to self-destruct out there on the pitch. When we signed him from Ajax he had nowhere near the amount of baggage he has now. So us paying £23 million for him didn't seem such a big risk. Compare that to now. Aside from the biting incident at Ajax, he's now accumulated numerous other accolades in becoming the odious cretin most people see him for. Yet Arsene Wenger, & many fellow Gooners, would gladly welcome this prick to your club with open arms.

You're not exactly coming out of this looking too good yourselves you know.

How have Arsenal done wrong? They bid for a player privately and bid enough to trigger a clause the player believes is there.

They did this privately. At every turn Liverpool have played this out in front of the media like amateurs. I get the impression big Bren likes the sound of his own voice.

Fair enough they are desperate to keep the khunt as he is your only hope (however slim) that you'll see CL football in the immediate future. And also fair enough that he would rather flog him off to a foreign team and not toa side that constantly sits above yours.

It's even fair enough that the club don't believe there is a clause in the contract that allows him to move to a better team that is in the CL (qualifiers, it had to be said).

But it's the petty insults about Arsenal, and the rubbish about dignity and ask that self-aggrandizing bollox that does it for the rest of us. The first time or club had made any mention of this saga whatsoever was the other day. Liverpool have turned this into the circus that is befitting of the club these last few seasons.

Suarez is worth what Arsenal end up paying for him, which will be £40,000,001.99

I find it staggering that some Liverpool fans are surprised by this. Even going on his history alone this was always likely. The problem is that Liverpool, to appease their best player, bet the house on him and abandoned what, they would argue, the club stands for. Twice. As someone on Twitter said this morning, they created an environment where he could do no wrong.

No he wont, a manager is perfectly entitled to play who he wants when he wants and place who he wants in the reserves. If the manager feels a player is not in the right place mentally to cope with first team exposure the reserves it is. And who would have trouble believing Suarez is having mental issues?

Not in the football world fo today. Put an international in the reserves until christmas he will walk away free from his contract in january.

I suspect we will see a restriction of trade lawsuit before september.

Suarez is an utter cnut and I can't really believe arsene wants him to be honest, great player, but the baggage , in my opinion, is just too much, but I want this to continue because I'd love to see brentons response if his treatment of suarez ends up voiding the contract, because there is actual danger of that.

I could easily picture him at Real, but I just can't accept that Arsenal and Arsène would want him. Makes no sense. Not that they've only had angels in their squad in the past, mind, but this is just another level.

I'm enjoying how much the gooners on here are desperate for this.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Desperate for a complete scumbag of a player who they'll have to pay a fortune for.

Lambs, I'd expect you at the very least to read posts before making offhand comments.

Just out of interest how does it make no sense? That's a pretty broad statement to make.

Essentially a player of Suarez's caliber would be moving to one of the top European clubs or a money-club, which we are not either at this point in time. But, as it stands we have a chance to sign a genuine established world class talent from another PL team. This is almost un-heard of, and is most certainly a statement of intent.

Couple that with us backing ourselves into a corner with pulling out of the Higuain deal and we really are short of quality options we could potentially buy. It seems we are pouncing on a situation where a player we would not normally be able to sign has potentially become available. One that will instantly improve us, is proven in the league, is of the right age and is coming off a fantastic season.

Having said that I'm not advocating the signing, though the above is true. I wish we just buckled and stumped up the big cash for Higuain in the first place.

I'm not sure this will work. Liverpool could argue this is disciplinary action for bringing the club into disrepute.

Liverpool aren't trying to make him leave - the typical claim for constructive dismissal - in fact, it's the opposite.

This is probably closer to the Tévez "won't come on" spat (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16810903).

There are lots of people out there who feel that Wenger, & Arsenal, are not only wrong, but they're out of their tree for even considering making Luis Suarez an Arsenal player. This has nothing to do with the bidding process, because as it stands, the bloke is not up for sale. So why have Arsenal even made an offer ? Has anyone at Anfield come out & said he's on the market ? Sure, every player has his price, & Rodgers has publicly stated that until someone comes up with an offer that falls in line with what he feels he's worth, then he's going nowhere. So tell me, considering that Luis Suarez is still a Liverpool player, & is tied to another 3 years at the club. Also taking into account the manager, & the owners, have clearly stated that not only is he not for sale, but they would not even consider selling him to Arsenal. What exactly have Liverpool done wrong ? You make it sound like Liverpool & Arsenal are in some sort of negotiations, & that your wonderful manager is doing everything by the book, especially by bidding a pound over forty million. Liverpool going public on this is a subtle way of telling Arsenal to politely 'feck off'

It may have been asked before, but do you reckon Wenger has the type of management necessary to control/discipline Suarez? He's going to be the big cheese at Arsenal if he goes - record transfer, breaking their very strict wage policy... it's going to go to his head big time. Can he cope with the trouble that Suarez is bound to bring with him?

Wenger has had years of practice with excuses, anytime Suarez bites anyone he'll just say he didnt see it

Apparently John Henry has arrived, maybe he brought Ortiz's bat with him.

Of course 'make no sense' is a very subjective view, for me it makes no sense: I can understand the sporting reasons, but despite not especially liking Wenger, I never thought he'd be the kind of manager that would go for Suarez, despite his qualities as a footballer (which are overrated according to me as I've explained in this thread but that's irrelevent). I would understand Mourinho going for him but Wenger is a person who has always had the bigger picture in mind for me, and anyone acquiring Suarez knows fair well there are huge risks that come along with him for the image of the club. You can always speculate 'here he'd be happy', 'he wouldn't pull that shit with us' etc. but the fact is there is at least a huge risk if not certainty that at some point or another he could tarnish the club's reputation. It was only from that perspective that I was talking.

I read the rest about him 'elevating the club to another level' and 'sending a message' (don't know if it was you or another Arsenal poster), I think that's slightly overstating the importance of this deal really. There's still a lot of work to be done for Arsenal, notably with the wage structure policy, before you can really be considered as top challengers in Europe, which might sound cynical but I think that's the truth.

Messier than Messi? We're officially excited.

Seems desperate or at least disconsolate

Your post makes no sense because the media drama is played out entirely by Suarez and your club. Arsenal made a bid because he wants to move somewhere, which club doesn't? You deserve this and a lot more because he's a cnut and we told you so, while you were hanging on to 'Negrito', and 'He gets this club, la'.

All the top clubs are a media circus. That's how it is in the modern game. Be it Rooney from a few years back, or even the modern day Rooney. Then there's Tevez acting the cnut with both Manchester clubs. It's all part & parcel of football nowdays.

What people seem to be missing in their clamour to rub our noses in it, is that despite Suarez's tantrums & toy throwing, he ain't going nowhere unless we say so. Unless someone makes us a silly offer we can't refuse he'll still be a Liverpool player next season. He'll also have the first 6 games sitting on his arse to reflect on what he's done. As this is a world cup year I seriously doubt he'll want to be sulking in Liverpool's reserves for too long.

Luis Suarez might be a right cnut. But as it stands, he's still very much our cnut.

The thing is, value is subjective, and as Suarez is so far ahead of much of the Liverpool squad that makes him very valuable to them indeed. if they had 3 or four other strikers of that quality Im sure they would cut their losses and just get rid of the twat, but as it is it will take an exceptionally high bid to prise him away and rightly so. Personally I admire them for making a modern mercenary cnut of a footballer stick to the terms of the contract that he signed of his own free will.

I admire Poo for the sheer hypocrisy and front that they display when moaning about this bit of business. Conveniently forgetting what Brentan did to Swansea over Joe Allen.

The agreement was that Swansea could sell if it was in the best interests of the club to do so. They obviously thought £15 million for Joe Allen was good business & were quite happy to take the money.

Taken from the BBC at the time:

Although the new Liverpool manager has a written agreement with Swansea not to return to his former club to try to sign any of their players for the next 12 months, the Welsh club can waive that clause if a deal is deemed to be in the best interests of the club.

Rooney is the re-incarnation of Mother Theresa if we are to compare him with Suarez. People are rubbing their noses in, because Liverpool and Suarez act like whiney bitches in Big brother, one whoring himself out to other clubs and other acting like the husband who won't divorce her because of his financial commitments.

Well, it's also because he's a buck toothed prick who'd drop the club like a penny as soon as he got a better opportunity. The irony is every other supporter predicted this would happen while you were lapping up Brenton's quotes about how he'll die without hope but live without air.

Is it just me or has the guy become rather likeable.

The video of him earlier today singing away in his car on his way to train with the reserves was class.

The type of player I would never want near the club I support, but he certainly makes the sport more interesting.
