Rodgers is doing the best he can, but it's rich to start banging on about holding a player to the club's values when twice in the last couple of years they've been willing to abandon those values to blindly support the player in question.

But no journo will ever point that out to him.

Yeah. The implication is, once again, "anything goes as long as you don't disrespect the club". It's a siege mentality that's outdated.

Contracts become irrelevant when the split has become this seismic.

It's not beneficial to sit on someone whose value will only depreciate given he won't be playing(he's not going to put in any effort) when you could get £45m and get 2 class players in return.

These sagas only ever end one way.

Bit in bold shows you know nothing about Suarez, if Liverpool hold onto him for another year do you really think he's going to mope about all year? He only has Arsenal interested in him at the minute, if you are being honest yourself you know he's only showing desire in moving to them because they are the only club interested in him.

In short, selling Suarez to the weakest team in the top four puts a considerable distance between Liverpool and Arsenal, at the minute we are realistically in touching distance (if we stretch) to Arsenal, with Suarez we can realistically challenge you for fourth, without him it would be very difficult, without Suarez and Arsenal with it makes you virtually uncatchable.

Do you see the logic here? Suarez will not be for Arsenal, even for Suarez it makes more sense to stick it out at LFC another year, perform well, keep his nose clean and wait for a big club to look for him, his next move is a crucial one as he is signing away his peak years, for a man who wants to win things is signing himself to Arsenal until he is thirty really a good idea?

Be impartial, does Suarez to Arsenal make logical sense for any party involved besides Arsenal?

People say Liverpool rival Arsenal. They've averaged finishing 10 points behind us for the last five seasons.

United fans claim Arsenal don't rival you lot. You're right. But if we don't rival you, Liverpool clearly don't rival us.

People don't actually mean rivals in the sense United City and Chelsea are, it's meant in the fact that you are the weakest team in the CL and we are trying to take your spot of you- surely this is obvious Ali.

My mate on Facebook is saying Liverpool should be looking for 60m+ for Suarez because he is better than Cavani and Falcao and they went for around 50m. Are people really that delusional? 60m?

Which is why it would be worth us testing you with a stronger bid. It doesn't look like we are getting any other goalscorers so weaken you and strengthen us is a pretty good strategy.

Of course, and it makes no sense for Liverpool to sell their best player to us, but if he wants to go and you'll never get a higher transfer fee, surely now is the best time? For £45m you could sign someone who actually wants to play for you and won't be banned half the season.

To be honest Arsene's £1 over the £40m only served to make Liverpool more angry about the whole thing. BIB- this is exactly why the only beneficiaries of this are Arsenal.

Gordon Taylor confirming that the contract indeed says the club does not have to sell.

Looks we are firmly in the driving seat then. Enjoy Sanogo Gooners

Yeah, congrats. I don't see this turning out anyway but wonderfully for Liverpool with a gentleman like Suarez.

Maybe Wenger is still playing stalking horse for Madrid.....who knows?Turmoil at your club involving your best player is a nice result but we still haven't strengthened our front line.

I beg to differ, Suarez's stock will rise as he enters his peak years.

No point having £45m in the bank if you can't buy a quality striker though- firstly all the good strikers available have been bought and secondly Liverpool would struggle to attain one of these strikers as we cannot offer CL football or Monocoesque wages. We currently have a world class striker signed to us for another three years, it's up to us if we want to sell him or not.

Mind when you sold Man United your best player and they won the league and you secured CL on the last day of the season? Hardly a blueprint for a good football transfer for a sellers point of view, was it?

Maybe he still thinks Higuain is still available for Arsenal?

We sold him because he essentially handed in a transfer request(to all intents and purposes) and there was nothing to gain by keeping him - very much the situation you're in.

Suarez is better than Cavani & Falcao. He's also tied in on a contract for another 3 years. So yes, he is worth at least £60 million.

Yep.

Not really, Suarez has three years on his contract and is 26 years old, RVP was into his last year and 29 years old and refused to sign a new contract- very different situations. We don't have to sell Suarez you didn't have to sell RVP but you did because waiting a year he would have went on a free. Keeping Suarez another year won't decrease his value as two years on the contract of a 27 year old is still a long time.

Live at ringside:

It's a verbal battle to the death between Ali & Smokin' Joe Saoirse! Meanwhile, Suarez sneaks out the exit door and signs for Don King Stockport.

Not a mission. Falcao, in particular, is much better than Suarez.

You really think so ? Doesn't matter anyway, because Falcao (aged 27, or is it 29) has gone for the big bucks in Monaco. Suarez, despite all his baggage, is a player who could make a big difference to a side wanting to go onto bigger & better things. There's a price for that sort of player.

So you can racially abuse an opponent, bite another and run around kicking and acting like a complete cnut and they worship you.

But for the love of god, just don't try to further your career! No, now that IS crossing the line.

The Liverpool way.
