Suarez

I don't know why Liverpool leaked the Costa stuff though. It was a clear leak, too. Everyone got the news in about one minute flat. It just worsens their bargaining position.

Maybe it was a plea for help to Suarez. Look at this donkey we're going to have to replace you with if you leave because we can't attract the likes of Soldado to choose us over Spurs

Are Arse in for Rooney? Seems odd that Chelsea have not been linked with Suarez and Arsenal not with Rooney.

They were linked quite a lot with him a month or so ago.

I think we have been linked heavily early on in the transfer window. There were doubts whether we can match his wage demands and also seems like Chelsea might be his preferred option. Think SSN said we made an enquiry with Man Utd, were told not for sale and we moved on with other targets.

For Chelsea I think they are very confident they can land Rooney so haven't got a backup plan. Also the biting incident and for Liverpool selling their star striker to Chelsea again might not go down well!

From BBC:
Sources close to Suarez say he will consider taking his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and he did go down a similar route when Dutch side Groningen turned down an offer from Ajax for his services in 2007.
So Liverpool fans and the club itself defended him in the racism case by (wrongly) suggesting Evra had a history of reporting racism. Now Suarez is seeking a way out using the same method he's used previously. It's almost poetic.

CAS will tell him to bugger off and point towards his contract and existing FA regulations. You should have posted the article, this bit is important.

It is understood that when Suarez signed a new contract in August 2012, he requested a clause that allowed him to depart if Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League and received a bid in excess of £40m.

Liverpool refused this but suggested an arrangement that obliged them to act in good faith if those conditions were met, which Suarez argues he only accepted because he felt there was verbal agreement from all parties that - despite the new wording - it would work in the same way as a release clause.

Good luck verifying a verbal agreement to any court. In fact, anyone who is naive enough to believe in verbal agreements deserve the consequences.

Edit: Formatting.

Liverpool would let him go but it's the fact that it is Arsenal. If it were City I think they'd have sold him to them. Although he is a great player, it's telling that only one club has expressed any real interest in him.

and it also goes against what he was saying about wanting to leave England all together

Don't worry about me, I'm used to fighting fires on the Caf.

Fighting fires with propane?

He was a diving, stomping, wummy, biting cnut at Ajax. (Liverpool fans probably said the same thing, 'we'll sort him out don't worry..)
He's been a diving, stomping, racial abusing, biting cnut at Liverpool...

Surely alarm bells are ringing. Support 'your' player and all that but trying to argue this is a bit ridiculous. There would be no markets on whether he will act the cnut at Arsenal.

This has turned out far better than I hoped. I knew he was a prick but to go to court against the club that stood by him despite him being a diving, cheating, elbowing, biting, eye gouging, hair snatching and racist cnut is just despicable. Liverpool and Suarez were made for each other.

How the mighty have fallen. The Liverpool of Shankly and Paisley wouldn't have stood for Suarez and his antics. He'd have been out of the door before you could blink. Dalglish made a right arse of himself and the club by orchestrating that tee shirt campaign after the Evra incident. Say what you like but I think the backing they gave him then just encouraged Suarez to think he could get away with anything and still find favour with the club.

Got a very good reception when he came on

Of course he did. If the fans turn against him even the slightest, then he is definitely gone, taking Liverpool's chances of a top 4 chance away with him. Not that I think they'll manage it with him still there.

And anybody who has any real idea about the legal system will tell you that verbal contracts can be influential in deciding for the plaintiff.

They love to say "no one is bigger than the club". But, after all his downgrading remarks about Liverpool, they're still licking his arse just because he scores goals. The ironing is so hot in this one.

The dispute will be about verifying any verbal agreement. There's no way in hell that Liverpool's legal department would agree upon any verbal agreement and have it written down or in any way or shape have it made a known fact. We didn't agree contractually upon one when Heinze brought the club before arbitration:

Heinze took United to arbitration, claiming United had given him written permission to pursue a transfer to another club. However, the panel decided that the letter in question did not constitute a binding agreement for United, but only an 'agreement to agree' and thus did not constitute an obligation to sell the player.

There is also the prospect of Liverpool making a formal complaint to the Premier League about Arsenal's bid for Suarez. Contract clauses are usually confidential and Liverpool themselves were fined £20,000 in 2002 for making an illegal approach for Christian Ziege after meeting his precise Middlesbrough release clause. I guess this is relevant as well:

And Arsenal could use that 40ish millions to buy Rooney. We'd be swapping a cnut for a thundercnut, but such is modern football.

He'd instantly be our second best player!! Arrogance can be the price for greatness.

He's only marginally more cnutish than Keane for example.

I am being dead serious. I bought him on FM(great realistic game btw) and I won the CL. We can do the same in real life.

He's definitely one of Liverpool's greatest ever players. Snatching him would be a massive coup. I don't know why you guys are not excited by the idea!?

You don't even know how to WUM. Study Peterstorey a bit and then come back.

:wenger: You guys are as tedious as Barca fans who think there's only one way to play football.

I am not trolling. And ciderboy69 is a much better troll than Storey.

How is 'RvP was a cnut'? At Arsenal, he was no different than any other top footballers.

Wrong start as a bite, Everest. Maybe if you use Drogba, it may has a better leg to stand.

He threw pizza at Fergie. Stepped in the pitch against Hull dressed up as a cnut. Celebrated in front of traveling Spurs fans. Threw darts at youth team players. Confronted Van Nistelrooy during the 0-0 draw in 2003. Scored against us on several occasions. I could just go on.

Isn't that Cesc Fabregas? Are you posting in a parallel universe?
